Too often I have seen people ask a question on a beginners forum, only to be answered with multiple jargon words that they probably don't understand!Even if you are a seasoned AP'er, you can probably learn a LITTLE something today! If you would like to support the show, please visit here! How can you build your self-confidence and have a happier life? In this podcast, Kristian and Dr Amanda interviewed Dulcie and Iain the authors of DOSE a book that articulates 52 Science based ways for a happier and more confident life. They share both the psychological and neuroscientific benefits of each of the 52 actions in terms of the positive neurotransmitters and chemicals for short - DOSE (Dopamine, Oxytocin, Serotonin and Endorphins) and the role each of these play in helping us to feel happier and more confident. Episode 118 Dan Nastasi of Kings Never Die, Dog Eat Dog, Mucky Pup and more.. Dan Nastasi had an incredible journey through hardcore music from his early days of touring with Mucky Pup, to creating and traveling with Murphys Law and founding Dog Eat Dog even later on. We go through his history with the previous bands all the way up to the present day with his latest band Kings Never Die. We've featured them a few times, and with this episode corresponding with the release of the new record, it made sense to get the full story of Dan and his amazing adventures. This week we talk about what happened with our first episode and why we chose to title it Murphys Law. Danny goes into his Palm Springs story and then we find out what happened to him on Mothers Day.
A Bob Dylan sing-a-long to start this Episode. We pick up in 2004 w/ The Crossroads Guitar Festival again then transition into a chain of events in Max's life, that would knock him back down to the bottom. Monday June 7th, 2004 is a big moment in this story. However, if it were the end of his Rock N Roll Adventures, this podcast wouldn't exist. This is an in depth conversation about the pitfalls of owning a record store selling new & used product. "My old band, from Tulsa/Claremore played our very first Oklahoma City show for Max at Bricktown Live opening for Old School NYHC band Murphy's Law w/ OKC band Old Major on Wednesday June 9th, 2004. I didn't know until recording this episode what Max was going through in his personal life. My mind is completely blown right now!" - Jay Ramone Find out what happens when the headliner calls and says their going to be late & the sound guy says, "hey guys.... keep playing, we will let you know when they get here".... One of the most legendary shows at Bricktown Live in OKC ever!!!!! Damageplan came to Bricktown w/ local bands Lock n Load & Element... The day of the show, Dimebag Darrell Abbott (Pantera/Damageplan/Hellyeah) decided he wanted to have a cookout, went across the street to Bass Pro Shop in Bricktown & bought a grill & all the supplies needed & had a cookout, right outside the frontdoor of the venue next to the bus... People driving or walking by were in total shock to see Dime grilling on the sidewalk!See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The Yankees managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory against the Angels, suffering one of the worst regular season losses in a long time. #056: Murphy's LawThe second round continues for the NBA playoffs and while it's been good to see new faces in contention to win a title, it's been no secret that injuries have severely impacted the competitive balance of these playoffs. It's been tough enough with some of the game's biggest names already eliminated, but now more stars for the Nets, Clippers, Suns and Sixers face uncertainty as the playoffs continue to unfold. We break it all down including some highlights of the career of Chris Paul on today's episode.
Cathy Eller and Matt Ritter stop by to talk about today's case, Murphy v. Steeplechase Amusement Co. (AKA “The Flopper Case” Justice Benjamin Cardozo) in which an amusement park ride gave the delighted guests exactly what it promised.
We gotta go through the weekend with our Number 1s and Number 2s to start the show! Mark Murphy decided to answer some e-mails over the weekend and made some comments that raised the show's eyebrows. Plus, are you a fan of the pop-in?

Cooper and Nolan are on a two-man quest for justice this week with MURPHY'S LAW, and they don't care how many 80s cop movie tropes they have to go through to get it! Thanks to the magic of Charles Bronson (and more of the incredible production value you've come to expect from the Cannon Films Group), what seemed like a paint-by-numbers cop thriller gave the guys a lot more than they expected - more genre-bending tonal shifts, more incredible one-liners, and more senior-citizen-aged action scenes than you can shake a crossbow at. Jack Murphy's law says don't miss this episode - featuring Murphy's Irish Stout!
JACK MURPHY is an eight-year Army Special Operations veteran who served as a sniper and team leader in 3rd Ranger Battalion and as a senior weapons sergeant on a military free fall team in 5th Special Forces Group. Growing up in New York, Jack enlisted in the U.S. Army at age nineteen. Completing Infantry Basic Training, Airborne School, and the Ranger Indoctrination Program, he was assigned to 3rd Ranger Battalion. As a Ranger, he served as an anti-tank gunner, sniper, and team leader, and he graduated from Ranger School and Sniper School. After several deployments to Afghanistan and Iraq, he attended the Special Forces Assessment and Selection course and was selected as a special forces weapons sergeant. Over a year was spent training in the Special Forces Qualification Course, including further weapons training, SERE School, language training, and more. Assigned as the senior weapons sergeant on a military free fall team in 5th Special Forces Group, Murphy was again sent to numerous schools and training courses before being deployed to Iraq. Acting as the senior trainer and adviser to an Iraqi SWAT team, his Special Forces team conducted Direct Action and other missions across northern Iraq. After leaving the military in 2010, he received a degree in political science at Columbia University. Murphy is the author of Murphys Law and a series of fiction books. As an author he has written numerous nonfiction articles about weapons, tactics, special operations, terrorism, and counter-terrorism. He has appeared in documentaries, on national television, and on syndicated radio as it relates to military current affairs.
Lowell Dean is a Canadian writer and director perhaps best known for his lycanthropic cult classic WolfCop and its sequel Another WolfCop. Usually, I'm not a fan of movies that intentionally embrace campiness, but WolfCop is a different animal, well written, well-acted, great effects, lots of laughs, and overall a lot of fun and unmissable. WolfCop really has the spirit of the midnight monster movie and actually is the closest thing in spirit I've seen to Rob Zombie's Grindhouse concept Werewolf Women of the SS, which I'm still anxiously awaiting in vain along with Eli Roth's Thanksgiving. Perhaps the best way to see WolfCop is on Season 1 of The Last Drive-in with Joe Bob Briggs, now streaming on Shudder. Lowell and I talked about the making of WolfCop, his director origin story and major lessons learned from low-budget horror indie filmmaking on this episode of the Nick Taylor Horror Show. Now without further ado, here is WolfCop director Lowell Dean. Here as always, are some key takeaways from this conversation with Lowell Dean: Don't just come up with backup plans; communicate them. A lot of filmmakers talk about the importance of preparation and backup plans, particularly Roger Corman, but what doesn't get discussed enough is the importance of communicating your backup plans to your cast and crew. On WolfCop 2, there was an elaborate fight sequence that Lowell had originally budgeted 4 hours to shoot, but he told the stunt coordinator there was a chance they would only have 15 minutes to shoot it if the day got hectic, so to keep that in mind. Of course, to make their day, Lowell ended up having to shoot the scene in 15 minutes, and because of their previous conversation, the stunt coordinator knew exactly what to do, and they pulled it off pretty well. Movie making is constantly dancing with Murphys Law, and the job of a director is to make your day in spite of your circumstances. So, it's not only important to come up with plans a, b, c, and d, but to communicate them with everyone around you so that when the shit hits the fan, you all can correct course accordingly together, without having to regroup or anybody panicking - all of which costs precious production time. Be cognizant of who you ask for money. Not entirely sure if I agree with this 100%, but it's something to think about. When raising capital for his movies, Lowell avoids asking people in his circle of friends for money to avoid any potential harm to the relationship. This might seem counter-intuitive, but it's actually pretty smart. As you build your network as a filmmaker, you'll want to nourish it, and the quickest way to change a relationship is to ask someone for money. Be conscious of that, even if you have powerful and well-connected friends, that asking them for funding will change the relationship, and not always for the better. Instead of asking people in your immediate network for money, consider asking them for introductions to other people in their networks who may be able to fund your film. That creates a level of separation which can keep the friendship intact. The path is never straight, so aim for exposure. Lowell told a great story about pitching his zombie movie to a production company for a long, long time only to find out they were greenlighting someone else's zombie movie. Lowell was given the opportunity to shadow the other director as his assistant, and rather than say fuck that, I'm too good for this, Lowell jumped at the opportunity and inevitably ended up directing that movie himself. Clearly, nobody could have predicted this, but Lowell put himself in a position for experience and recognition, which is what you as a director must always be doing, particularly if you have zero IMDB credits. Whatever will get you on set and in front of producers is where you need to be going, so even if it feels beneath you, take every opportunity because the path you have in your mind for becoming a director is rarely the one that will work out. Jump at any opportunity that offers experience, education, recognition, or just proximity to real sets and real filmmakers. Thanks for listening!
