Cole is back from vacation in Colorado and he came back with gifts like William Larue Weller and Thomas H Handy Sazerac. After a local summer camp closed, Derrick was searching for a way to impact the youth at his church and make a difference in the community. After a busy summer of mission trips and service work, Derrick and his crew started volunteering with an organization called “Friends of the state street family,” an organization that serves the homeless community in Madison. His staff encouraged the youth to go out and listen to the stories of the people in the community, as well as provide for their basic needs with warm clothing and hot meals. Derrick says the experience continues to be transformational, both for him and his students. Derrick and his team are also actively working to stop slavery and sex trafficking, with an organization called End The Movement. Chris Reese hosts the “My Move” segment with guest Kelsi Winters Kelsie Winters is an awesome mom, brand consultant, social media guru, and fitness coach. She is also a long-time Madison resident who moved back to the city after living here as a kid. When she moved back to Madison, she was focused on finding other new moms to connect with. She ended up taking a job at her local church in the daycare, where she connected with several amazing moms. Kelsi said she is a huge fan of the downtown area, as it hosts an array of good food and live music events. She recommends everyone check out the Union for some ice cream. She also said the (free) zoo is an incredible spot to take the kids. Kelsi works from home as a brand consultant and fitness coach, as well as a social media guru. Adam Rostad is building community in Madison through storytelling Adam Rostad brings storytellers together in Madison to tell true stories based on a theme, from real people. Every 3rd Saturday of the month, a crowd gathers at the Wil-mar center to hear a true 7-10 minute story from someone in the community. Stories are usually based on a theme that will be announced ahead of time. A panel of judges will judge stories based on content, time, and storytelling ability. But don’t worry, the competition part isn’t taken overly seriously. The crowds are friendly and are always very kind to storytellers. This year, the overall theme of the has been movies.
