It's that time again. Our little longtime listeners know what the Juno Awards (Canada's answer to the Grammies) mean to us. At least the Metal category, being two time judges ourselves. So we're stoked for this year's nominees. Especially since four out of five are Radioactive Metal alum. So in the spirit of the Junos, we go over the list and "cast our vote" over the air. You'll find making a pick to be a Herculean task too. In our "News, Views and Tunes", we go over the "Back To The Beginning" final Ozzy gig and announce the Manitoba Metalfest. Musically, we crank Deceased, Anciients, Striker, Warpig, Steel Inferno, Pupil Slicer, Drop Off Point, Malefaction and introduce Finland's Steel Machine in our "Indie Spotlight". Horns Up!
How do you follow up a legendary “Bucket List” interview? How about with a Juno Award winner! Joining last week's “Creature Feature” Exciter at the Manitoba Metalfest was Canuck trad metallers Striker! So now is a great time to get caught up with former RAM alum vox Dan Cleary. We discussed winning said award and the “Strike Her!” gag from the classic “Airplane” flick. Last episode we took the Nuge...
How do you follow up a legendary "Bucket List" interview? How about with a Juno Award winner! Joining last week's "Creature Feature" Exciter at the Manitoba Metalfest was Canuck trad metallers Striker! So now is a great time to get caught up with former RAM alum vox Dan Cleary. We discussed winning said award and the "Strike Her!" gag from the classic "Airplane" flick. Last episode we took the Nuge up to task for the beef with Joan Jett. So we put our money where our mouths is and came up with our own "Top Ten Greatest guitarists" lists. To do this properly, it's definitely harder than it seems. In our "News, Views, and Tunes", we discuss the new Tony Hawk doc. Musically, we crank new and used from the aforementioned Striker + Grave Digger, Razor, Cryptopsy, (the real) Slaughter, Jungle Rot, Outre Tombe, Riot.303 and Nekkromaniac. Horns Up and Stay Healthy! Like the lady said…”We're so excited!” First off, this is another milestone with episode 700!! Plus, we recently experienced a night of firsts at the recent Manitoba Metalfest. It was the first time the legendary Exciter played our neck of the woods. It was the first time we've seen the classic line up live. And finally, it was the first time we had the good fortune of getting drummer/vox Dan...
Like the lady said..."We're so excited!" First off, this is another milestone with episode 700!! Plus, we recently experienced a night of firsts at the recent Manitoba Metalfest. It was the first time the legendary Exciter played our neck of the woods. It was the first time we've seen the classic line up live. And finally, it was the first time we had the good fortune of getting drummer/vox Dan Beetler onto our interview hotseat. Our excitement for Exciter goes back as far as for Heavy Metal itself with the classic "Violence And Force" album. So we didn't even really know where to begin with Mr. Beehler. But at the same time we had a thousand questions for him. We discussed the band's history with Megaforce Records and what the future holds! Another Bucket List interview! In our "News, Views and Tunes", we go into extra innings discussing Judas Priest and Onslaught going into the "Rock n Roll" and "Metal" HOFs, the impending return of Spinal Tap, and completely dissect the Joan Jett/Ted Nugent beef. Musically, we crank new and used from Exciter, D.O.A., the aforementioned Onslaught, Tysondog, Metalucifer, Iron Dogs, Immortal Bird, and Sadistic Ritual! Whew! Horns Up and Stay Healthy! Better late than never. Canadian metallic noise rockers KEN Mode have obviously been on our radar from the get go. The Season Of Mist recording artists are an established, internationally renowned touting outfit. But they're also hometown heroes only now finally getting their spot on the "Creature Feature" hotseat. Right before hitting the stage in their primo slot at the Manitoba Metalfest, we sat down with all three members of the 'Mode - Jesse Mathewson (vox, axe), Shane Mathewson (drums), and Skot Hamilton (bass). We go over the latest record "Loved", their spot and impact on the Seasons label and just have a whole lotta fun. A highly entertaining chat not to be missed. In our "News, Views, and Tunes", we discuss the "perfect song" and give the Horns for "Vinnie Paul Day". Musically, we crank the new KEN Mode, new tunes from Full of Hell, SunnO))), Burial and introduce Montreal metallers Ghoulunatics in our "Indie Spotlight"! Horns! Crossover thrashers Power Trip seem forged especially for RAM. 65% Metal. 35% Hardcore. 5% pro wrasslin'. Right before the Trippers hit the road they took the time to headline the Manitoba Metalfest giving us the opportunity for a long overdue chat. Vox/mainman Riley Gale was eager to talk record 2.5 (??) "Opening Fire 2008 -2014", their SOLD OUT (!!) Decibel cover, and the band's musical involvement with the WWE. On 4/20 no less. In our "News, Views, and Tunes", we go over the Lamb Of God stolen axe incident, the Cro Mags lawsuit sitch, and producer Rick Rubin's controversial "Slayer/black metal" statement. Musically we crank some Power Trip, new tunes from Tanith, Destrage, Windswept, Amygdala, some Necrophobic, and introduce (another Trip) in Canadian punkers Guilt Trip in our "Indie Spotlight". Horns!!
The irony isn't lost on us. The latest album from extreme metallers Origin is a rather unique release. Before the band started tearing it up in the underground they had their humble beginnings. Now years later, Agonia Records is re - presenting those days in the form of "Abio-genesis - Coming Into Existence". Origin's musical origin. Although those days certainly belonged to axeman Paul Ryan, we had the opportunity to get vokillist Jason Keyser's take on the sitch. In town headlining night one of The Manitoba Metalfest, we caught up with Mr. Keyser. We discussed to the new record, his time in Skinless, and his degree in anthropology. Welcome back , Jas. In our "News, Views, and Tunes", we get into Ozzy's mishap and trade stories on the live front. Musically, we crank the new Origin plus cool tunes from Onslaught, All Hell, Protector, Saint Vicious, some classic Skinless, and introduce Canadian metallers Tessitura in the "Indie Spotlight". Horns!!

Folk singer and multi-instrumentalist Gerrit Delaquis may seem like a new face in the local music scene, but he's spent the past four years quietly perfecting his debut album, 'Calm Cloud', which will be released March 10 at Le Garage. This week's a heavy episode, as we sit down with all five members of groove-metal act [Quoth the Sun](http://quoththesun.bandcamp.com/releases). We dig into their take on the local metal scene, plus their origins (including the name), their upcoming album, and the slow-burn in between. This week's episode is brought to you by our friends at the Park Theatre, who are hosting the second and final [fundraiser for Manitoba Metalfest 2018](http://www.facebook.com/events/2015640112050912/) on Friday, Jan. 26. The show features acts like Serrated Scalpel, Flash Out, Exuvium, Inhumed and Scythra, and all proceeds go toward keeping the festival alive. Please note: we lost about 10-15 minutes of this interview during the recording process due to a problem with the recorder, so if anything is confusing, it's probably a reference to something said during the part that didn't get captured. (Sorry!)
