Waarom is de start van een Zwift race zo bepalend voor je kansen op winst?De start van een Zwift race voelt intens, maar dat is precies waarom hij zo belangrijk is. Zwift reageert direct op vermogen en het peloton zit binnen seconden op snelheid. Wie dan nog rustig opbouwt, verliest direct de aansluiting. Een goede start betekent dat je al vóór het aftellen hoog in je vermogen zit. Zo val je meteen in de groep en kun je daarna pas stabiliseren. Zonder die aansluiting wordt winnen praktisch onmogelijk.2. Hoe bepaal je in welke Zwift categorie jij het beste kunt racen?Categorieën op Zwift zijn bedoeld om races eerlijk en uitdagend te houden. Zwift kijkt steeds vaker naar je vermogen over langere tijd, waardoor je eigen vermogensprofiel goed laat zien waar je hoort. In een te hoge categorie rijd je steeds op de limiet. In een te lage categorie word je teruggezet. De juiste categorie is de plek waar jij tactisch kunt racen, kunt reageren op versnellingen en een sprint kunt voorbereiden. Pas dan kun je groeien richting winst.3. Welke power-ups zijn het meest effectief om een Zwift race te winnen?De Aero Boost, Feather en Draft leveren het meeste voordeel op. De Aero is ideaal voor een sprint of een snelle groep. De Feather helpt op steile hellingen of korte versnellingen. De Draft werkt goed wanneer het peloton langgerekt is en het vermogen piekt. Het echte verschil zit in de timing. Met een goed geplaatste power-up overleef je kritieke fases en houd je energie over voor de finale. Slimme inzet van power-ups is vaak een belangrijk onderdeel van winnen.4. Hoe ga je om met de constante tempowisselingen in Zwift races?Zwift kent weinig echte rust. De koers beweegt voortdurend en kleine versnellingen kunnen grote gevolgen hebben. Renners die winnen reageren niet op elke piek maar op het ritme van het peloton. Ze schakelen snel en blijven rustig wanneer het tempo even oploopt. Door vaker te racen leer je herkennen wanneer een versnelling slechts een rimpel is en wanneer je echt moet reageren. Dat inzicht maakt dat je je inspanning beter verdeelt en minder energie verspilt.5. Waarom geeft parcourskennis zo veel voordeel in Zwift races?Veel routes op Zwift keren terug in vaste leagues en series. Daardoor ontstaan herkenbare patronen: punten waar het peloton breekt, stukken waar je kunt herstellen en segmenten waar iedereen versnelt. Wie de route kent racet met meer overzicht. Je spaart energie op de juiste momenten en je anticipeert op plekken die bepalend zijn voor de uitslag. Bob ziet dat sterke renners vaak niet harder trappen, maar beter voorspellen wat er komt. Dat geeft rust én controle.6. Hoe word je structureel beter in Zwift racen?Beter worden vraagt regelmaat, inzicht en feedback. Wie vaker met dezelfde groep rijdt ziet sneller wat werkt. De Slimmer Presteren Club op Zwift is daar ideaal voor. Je traint samen op je eigen niveau en ervaart hoe Zwift...

Welcome to episode 121 of The Journey Is the Reward!All good flights must come to an end, and sadly, the incredible 15-day Southern Africa adventure of a lifetime is concluding! Join Brian and crew as their journey wraps up and they depart Botswana.  Fortunately, he remembers to pull out the microphone at the airport lounge to capture a fantastic conversation with the rest of the crew: Barb, Jim, Gerrit, and Malin. It's a bittersweet moment as the group parts ways, with Gerrit and Malin flying off to Windhoek, Namibia, while Barb, Jim, and Brian head to Johannesburg for the final leg of their "flight plan." This last push includes important city sightseeing in both Johannesburg and Pretoria, one last chance for thrilling game drive, and immersive museum visits. Of course, the trip wouldn't be complete without a crucial stop for souvenirs! The crew made sure they filled their suitcases with treasures and gifts discovered at the Artisan Market at the Rosebank Mall for everyone back home. It seems like only yesterday the trip started, but a very quick 15 days later, the adventure was over, sealed with the memory of the utterly soul-stirring, goosebump-inducing sounds of the Madalitso Youth Choir! Het lichaam krijgt een natuurlijke opwarming, de bloedcirculatie komt op gang en kinderen voelen zich alerter. Het effect is voelbaar in hun gedrag en zichtbaar in hun resultaten. Een actieve route naar school wordt zo een dagelijkse investering in leerprestaties.2. Waarom zijn fundamentele motorische vaardigheden zo belangrijk om mee te kunnen doen op school en in sport?Pim Koolwijk benadrukt dat kinderen pas echt plezier ervaren in sport en spel wanneer hun lichaam kan wat de situatie vraagt. Draaien, springen, remmen en balanceren vormen de basis waarop alle andere vaardigheden worden gebouwd. Zijn onderzoek laat zien dat kinderen die deze basis missen sneller afhaken, soms uit schaamte, soms uit frustratie. Door variatie in beweging aan te bieden, bijvoorbeeld via fietsen, steppen of spelen buiten, groeit hun motoriek en daarmee hun zelfvertrouwen.3. Wat zijn de grootste misverstanden over veiligheid wanneer kinderen zelfstandig naar school fietsen?Myrthe Heijnen ziet dat veel ouders denken dat verkeer te gevaarlijk is, terwijl de meeste ongelukken ontstaan door gebrek aan fietsvaardigheid. Kinderen leren risico's inschatten door te oefenen, niet door vervoerd te worden. Ze benadrukt dat veel ‘gevaar' ontstaat uit onervarenheid, afleiding of onhandigheid, niet uit drukte op de weg. Wie stap voor stap ervaring opbouwt, helpt kinderen juist veiliger te worden. De weg mijden neemt het risico niet weg, maar verlaagt vaardigheid.4. Hoe ga je om met de extra risico's die tieners lopen op e-bikes en fatbikes?Volgens Myrthe vraagt de hogere snelheid van e-bikes om extra stuurvaardigheid en bewustzijn. Tieners hebben vaak minder rijervaring terwijl ze tegelijk sneller rijden en elkaar soms onder druk zetten om tempo te maken. De oplossing ligt niet in verbieden, maar in begeleiden. Oefenen in sturen, remmen en inschatten helpt kinderen om controle te houden wanneer het snel gaat. Door samen routes te verkennen en te praten over risicosituaties bouw je aan veilige zelfstandigheid.5. Hoe kunnen ouders zelf bijdragen aan een actievere route naar school zonder dat het extra tijd kost?Veel ouders denken dat actief naar school gaan tijdrovend is, terwijl kleine keuzes al veel verschil maken. Een blokje om lopen naar de bakker, de fiets pakken voor korte ritten of een vaste loop- of fietsdag invoeren creëert routine. Wie zelf actief naar werk of sport gaat geeft bovendien een...

Welcome to episode 120 of The Journey Is the Reward!Prepare for the continuing high-flying stories and adventures across Southern Africa.The episode begins with Ground Control Howie taxiing the group to the Cape Town International (CPT) for the next leg of their journey, a flight to Victoria Falls. Immediately, they encountered turbulence with Brian's Priority Pass access, resulting in a temporary grounding. However, quick thinking from either Gerrit or Jim bypassed the holding pattern. They successfully executed a rescue mission, allowing Brian to join the crew in the lounge closer to the departure gate, ensuring smooth sailing into their next flight.With ground operations complete, the crew boarded their scheduled service flight with ProFlight Zambia on a CRJ-500, as they headed toward the mighty mist of Victoria Falls. They landed safely at the Victoria Falls (VFA) aerodrome where they logged three days at the Avani hotel and enjoyed the spectacular Victoria Falls and surrounding areas.  The group also explored the town of Livingstone with a very pregnant Connie was acting as their friendly tour guide. During this layover, Malin, Gerrit and Brian also completed a cross-border transit—a quick international hop—gaining another Passport Stamp as they walked across the Victoria Falls Bridge to enter Zimbabwe. Following the successful layover, the crew transitioned smoothly into Botswana. Here they engaged in specialized safaris conducted by both land and rivercraft. Treating themselves to First Class Amenities, they enjoyed therapeutic massages by CasLea Beauty Spa. Brian, ever the charismatic traveler, found a lifelong friend in his favorite masseuse, Cassandra! The show closes with an announcement: a special recording with the whole flight crew was captured inside the airport lounge. In today's Cloud Wars Minute, I explore Workday's bold entry into the ERP space and share insights from my interview with Gerrit Kazmaier on how AI and data are reshaping enterprise software.Highlights00:24 — Last week, 30,000 people were at Workday's big Rising event in San Francisco. I had a chance to sit down with Product and Technology President Gerrit Kazmaier to talk about his views on how the Workday approach to ERP is going to be different from what we see from other players.01:08 — Kazmaier brings enterprise applications, data, data cloud, hyperscale — all those different backgrounds, expertise, and experiences — to Workday. And now he's taken a very aggressive agenda in these first six or seven months, leading up to this notion of ERP. Workday moved into the ERP space with a lot of new introductions, agents, and more at last week's Rising event.01:48 —And a couple of things that Kazmaier talks about: Kazmaier believes the ERP concept is right — giving business leaders a chance to see what's going on inside their companies from multiple perspectives with fully integrated applications. But he feels that the tools have been outdated, too difficult, too slow, too fragmented.02:08 —So Workday, although for its first 20 years had avoided getting into ERP, now feels that the time is right to give huge value to customers.
