Paul and Silas visited Thessalonica as a part of the 2nd Missionary Journey. As was their custom, they first went to the synagogue to preach from the Old Testament that Jesus is the Christ. Many believed, but many did not. Those that did not became jealous and caused such trouble for the Christians in Thessalonica that Paul and Silas left more quickly than they would have liked. In Berea, the Word was received with great joy, but the jealous Thessalonian Jews followed Paul and chased him away from there as well. Paul's brief ministry among the Thessalonians sets the stage for the two letters he writes back to them only a short time later. Rev. Sean Kilgo, pastor at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Lawrence, KS, joins host Rev. Timothy Appel to study Acts 17:1-15. To learn more about Redeemer Lutheran, visit trinitylcmsvinton.org. “Yearning for the Day of Christ's Returning” is a mini-series on Sharper Iron that studies St. Paul's two epistles to the Thessalonians. Although Paul's time in Thessalonica was brief, he had great affection for the Christians there. His two letters to the Thessalonians show us the joy that God gives us together in the Church and encourage us to live faithfully in expectation of Jesus' coming on the Last Day. Sharper Iron, hosted by Rev. Timothy Appel, looks at the text of Holy Scripture both in its broad context and its narrow detail, all for the sake of proclaiming Christ crucified and risen for sinners. Two pastors engage with God's Word to sharpen not only their own faith and knowledge, but the faith and knowledge of all who listen. Submit comments or questions to: listener@kfuo.org

In this video, I explore Acts 13:13-51, following the Apostle Paul's missionary journey from Paphos in Cyprus to Perga in Pamphylia and Antioch in Pisidia, as detailed in the Book of Acts. I examine the historical context of these locations in modern-day Cyprus and southeast Turkey, reflecting on Paul's extensive travels and their impact. The discussion focuses on Paul's sermon in the synagogue, drawing from Old Testament scriptures to proclaim Jesus as the promised Savior, and notes the varied responses from Jews and Gentiles. I also highlight how Paul's approach mirrors Stephen's message and emphasizes the importance of biblical truth
What was Paul preaching on his missionary journey? His sermon in Antioch gives us the content of the gospel that he preached. And we see how God worked in the aftermath. Pastor Kevin Craft
The start of Paul's journey sees the church send him out, and extending the gospel in an area that has already heard. Pastor Kevin Craft
As Christians, we are called to love others. The world has somewhat distorted the definition of love to mean accept, affirm, or make others comfortable. Today, Pastor Bill teaches that truly loving others means that… in his words, “There is a time to go Batman on somebody.” When you truly love someone, you desire to see them succeed and grow, and not just stay stuck in their sins. To be a Christian is to be an ambassador for Christ, and to be an ambassador is to make His Word known.

Whenever you do an act of kindness, what's the mindset behind it? Do you minister to others for God, or do you minister to God? Those may sound similar, but maybe this will help. Imagine you work for a hotel as a greeter. Do you hold the door open for patrons on the company's behalf, or because you want to show them an act of kindness? In today's message, Pastor Bill teaches that, in the same way, you can either serve people for God or serve people to God. It's not just the actions you do, but the heart behind them.

Paul's 2nd & 3rd Missionary Journeys, by Stephen Smith. 7/27/2025 Sunday PM Sermon.
In this powerful exploration of Acts 14, we're challenged to consider the true nature of resilience in our faith journey. Paul and Barnabas' first missionary journey serves as a striking example of unwavering commitment in the face of intense persecution. Despite being stoned, expelled from cities, and facing constant danger, they persistently shared the Gospel, even returning to places where they had been attacked. This remarkable resilience wasn't born from their own strength, but from being filled with the Holy Spirit. We're reminded that true spiritual resilience comes not from our own determination, but from surrendering to God's purpose and allowing His Spirit to work through us. The message encourages us to shift from a defensive, victim mentality to an offensive stance in our faith, trusting in God's power rather than our own abilities. This perspective offers a liberating freedom - the freedom to pursue God's calling regardless of circumstances, knowing that in Christ, even death is gain.

When Saul of Tarsus came to faith in Christ, little did he know how much he would suffer for his faith. Today, Ron shares some of the events that took place during the Apostle Paul's first missionary journey. It's a story of partnership, persecution and perseverance, and it comes your way next, in Ron's teaching series, “Paul: Surprised by Grace.”

In a grand display of irony, Saul of Tarsus came to faith in Christ on his way to persecute believers in Christ. God intervened in a miraculous way, striking Saul blind and giving him vision in the process. And what a vision it was. Today, Ron takes us to the Apostle Paul's first missionary journey, as he moves ahead in his teaching series, “Paul: Surprised by Grace.”
