In this episode, Dr. Jim Van Gelderen challenges young people to pray for revival, not merely as something God did in the past, but as something He still desires to do today. Reflecting on the history of revival in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, and the heart cry of Psalm 85:6, he reminds listeners that revival begins personally before it spreads corporately. True revival is not earned by human effort, but received through thirst, trust, humility, and dependence on the God who delights to revive His people. Topics Discussed The history of God's reviving work in places now spiritually forgotten The prayer of Psalm 85:6: “Wilt thou not revive us again?” Why young people should pray for revival in their school, youth group, church, and community The Welsh revival story and the reminder that “the revival is in here” The meaning of personal revival as Christ's abundant life in the believer Two essentials for personal revival: thirsting for God and trusting Him to work How revival produces rejoicing, truth, righteousness, and holiness from the inside out Why revival is not something we deserve, but a mercy God gives The importance of dealing honestly and biblically with sin A testimony of God moving in a Christian school camp and stirring a lifelong burden for revival The difference between simply “getting by” and living in the presence and power of God Key Takeaways Revival is not just a historical event to admire; it is a present need to pray for. Corporate revival begins with individual believers who are personally revived. A young person does not have to settle for dull, distracted, subnormal Christianity. Personal revival begins with a thirsty heart that wants God and a trusting heart that believes Him. Revival produces more than emotion; it produces truth, righteousness, holiness, and a passion for Christ. God's reviving work is an act of mercy, not something we earn or deserve. The presence of God changes everything. When God “steps in the room,” hearts are humbled, sins are confessed, burdens are born, and lives are changed. The right prayer is still, “Wilt thou not revive us again?” If you've been encouraged by this podcast, please take the time to give us a five-star rating and write a brief review. In this GoMission episode, Mark Gillmore talks with Brother Fletcher about God's call on his life toward Bible translation, unreached people groups, and practical involvement in the Great Commission. Fletcher shares how God moved him from living for himself to surrendering to help reach the unreached, and how the Lord gave both direction and desire as he yielded to God's plan. The conversation also introduces Go Steps, a practical stream of ideas, testimonies, and encouragement designed to help young people take meaningful steps in missions right now. Whether through prayer, encouragement, adopting a people group, sharing testimonies, or simply refusing to get distracted from God's call, every young person can take a step forward in the Great Commission. Topics Discussed Fletcher's upbringing as a missionary kid Surrendering personal dreams to reach the unreached God's direction toward Bible translation and Southeast Asia How God gives joy and desire when we yield to His will The need for Bible translation among unreached people groups Serving churches during deputation instead of merely “getting support” Practical ways young people can be involved in missions now The purpose and launch of Go Steps Encouragement through WhatsApp testimonies and email updates Adopting an unreached people group for prayer Staying focused on God's calling instead of getting distracted Key Takeaways God's will is not a miserable backup plan. When a young person yields to the Lord, God can give joy, desire, and fulfillment in the very calling that once seemed intimidating. You do not have to wait until you are on a foreign field to be involved in the Great Commission. God has placed you in a mission field right now, with friends, family, church, and opportunities already in front of you. Many young people care about missions, but they do not always know what to do next. Go Steps exists to help turn burden into obedience by giving practical ideas and encouragement for taking the next step. Prayer is not a small part of missions. When you pray for unreached people, God can move in ways you may not fully see until eternity. Satan wants young people to get burdened about the lost and then get distracted by the rest of life. The answer is to keep remembering your calling, take the next step, and stay on mission with Jesus. Resources Ready to take the next step in the Great Commission? In this episode, Bobby Bosler speaks honestly about a morning when he felt spiritually dry, empty, and numb even while preparing to preach and serve the Lord. Rather than pretending that surrendered Christians never experience seasons of silence, he reminds young people that even faithful believers can feel worn out, thirsty, and distant from God. Through prayer, worship, and Psalm 42, Bobby explains how the Lord began to turn that emptiness into spiritual refreshment. The episode encourages listeners not to panic when they feel dry, but to seek God, worship Him, and trust His promises even when the feelings do not immediately change. Topics Discussed Serving God while still feeling empty The danger of assuming spiritual people never experience dryness Why silence and numbness do not mean God has left you Depending on God's promises when feelings do not change The connection between spiritual thirst and Psalm 42 Worshiping God in the middle of dryness Seeking God honestly instead of hiding discouragement How God can use spiritual thirst to draw your heart back to Himself Key Takeaways You can be surrendered to God and still have moments where your soul feels dry. Spiritual numbness should not drive you to discouragement, but to deeper dependence on God. God's promises are still true even when your feelings do not immediately confirm them. The answer to spiritual thirst is not pretending, performing, or quitting; it is going to the Lord. Worship can turn your attention away from your emptiness and back to God's worthiness. Psalm 42 reminds us that thirsting for God is not unusual, but it must lead us to seek the living God. Don't stay in the silence. Seek His face, praise Him, and let Him meet the need of your soul. What does it look like to live fully surrendered to God — not just once, but day after day, season after season? In this conversation, Shelley Giglio sits down with Priscilla Shirer – wife, mother, author, and speaker – to reflect on the powerful move of God they're seeing in this generation, especially through gatherings like Passion, where tens of thousands of young adults are showing up hungry for the Word of God, not just motivation. Priscilla shares how she has spoken identity-shaping declarations over her sons for years and how that same truth now calls a wider generation to live like who God says they are. They talk honestly about surrender: laying down comfort, preferences, and even good opportunities when God says “go” or “stay.” Priscilla tells the story of filming War Room and being willing to lay acting down to honor her marriage and family, and together she and Shelley unpack the danger of confusing ministry with platform in a social-media age. From five unseen years discipling a handful of college girls, to the story behind The Jesus Bible, to a powerful reminder that maybe we don't need more clarity but more courage, this episode invites us to see every ordinary moment as ministry and to trust that God is forming us — even when no one is watching. He emphasizes that the human heart was created to worship, and if God isn't filling that void, other things—like sports, technology, control, or societal validation—inevitably will (19:35-20:20).Biblical Context: The message references the Israelites and the Golden Calf (8:33-12:50). He explains that the Israelites turned to idols because they could not sustain faithfulness without visible leadership, a pattern that persists today as people trade God's truth for cultural comfort (10:57-12:47).Four Ways We Become Idol Makers: Long outlines four specific ways we displace God in our lives:Trading trust for control (25:15-31:56).Seeking certainty in an uncertain world (29:33-35:04).Elevating others (or things) above God (35:04-44:53).Attaching our identity to something other than God (44:53-51:41).Practical Application: The speaker shares his personal experience of identifying idols and the importance of prayer, fasting, and surrendering control to God to find true peace, satisfaction, and significance (41:14-44:53, 58:02-59:03).The Gospel Message: Long concludes by pointing to Jesus Christ as the ultimate deliverer from idolatry. He offers an invitation to those who have not yet put their trust in Jesus to receive the gift of salvation and begin a new life (54:00-1:02:26).Additionally, the video includes church updates, including a prayer of blessing over staff members Tristan, Brooklyn, and Jacob (0:39-4:38), and a recap of the Men of Valor Conference (5:25-6:05). In this message, Pastor Karl wraps up the church's three-week study of Matthew 12 — what he calls the hinge point of Jesus's ministry and of all human history. Drawing from verses 40 through 50, he unpacks three powerful moments that reveal the heart of what Jesus was communicating to a resistant generation.Pastor Karl begins with Jesus's references to Jonah and the Queen of Sheba, showing how Jesus used these figures to slam the door on the demand for endless proof. The issue, he argues, was never a lack of evidence — it was a lack of surrender. Unbelief isn't intellectual; it's volitional. From there, Pastor Karl digs into one of the most misunderstood passages in Matthew: the parable of the empty house. When an unclean spirit returns to find a swept but empty home, it brings seven more spirits worse than itself. Jesus's point is sobering — moral reform without spiritual transformation is a setup for collapse. Cleaning up your life in your own strength, without the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, leaves you more vulnerable than before, not less. Finally, Pastor Karl addresses Jesus's surprising response to his own family, and what it reveals about who truly belongs to the family of God. It isn't inherited proximity or religious familiarity — it's submission and obedience to the Father. This episode is a challenge and an encouragement: stop trying to clean the house on your own. The victorious life Jesus offers isn't just about forgiveness — it's about being filled and clothed in the power of the Holy Spirit.Watch all our sermons on our youtube channel "Flipside Christian Church"Join us in person 8:00am, 9:30am & 11:00am every Sunday morning.37193 Ave 12 #3h, Madera, CA 93636For more visit us at flipside.churchFor more podcasts visit flipsidepodcasts.transistor.fm

IL – Fr. John Paul Erickson joins Patrick for the last chapter of our special Lenten Series on the 7 Last Words of Jesus – today’s topic: “Total Surrender to God” (6:17) What is the connection to the Psalms and this last word of Jesus? (15:29) what holds us back from surrendering entirely to the will of the Father? (19:50) Break 1 (20:57) How do you answer the question of does God really care about me and can I trust Him? (28:54) Carol - I'm an associate for an order. I serve worldwide for the sisters from home. I suffer from terminal illness. It's that surrender to God we're all trying to get to. Why does God allow suffering? (36:23) Break 2 (38:33) Laurie - Husband and I suffered 2 miscarriages. Another born and survived only days. Knowing God had a greater purpose. I figured we'd have 5-6 kids. I worked at a daycare. We adopted two children. God places these things before us and uses us as an instrument. (43:23) If we are to experience suffering why should we be faithful Christians? Serenity Prayer
Striving can look productive. It can even look spiritual. However, it is often control disguised as obedience. In this episode, I am sharing a conversation from a podcast where I was recently a guest. We unpack how striving can quietly become a coping mechanism. Instead of surrendering outcomes to God, we try to manage them. We work harder, push more, and call it discipline, when in reality it can drift into pressure and legalism. We also talk about the difference between discipline and striving, and what it means to be truly yoked with the Lord. When your work flows from trust and desire instead of control, the fruit looks different. God's path produces growth without the exhaustion that comes from trying to carry everything yourself. Surrender | Commitment Sunday | All In In this episode, we explore what it means to surrender control and step fully into God's plan. Looking at Numbers 13 and 14, we see how fear can shape our decisions and how remembering God's faithfulness changes everything. This conversation will encourage you to trust God's provision, respond with courage, and choose obedience in moments that matter most. Key Insights: • Faith decisions often happen when fear is still present. Waiting for fear to disappear may keep you from moving forward. • Remembering God's past faithfulness builds confidence for present challenges. • Trusting God's provision requires releasing control and stepping into obedience. • Spiritual growth happens when we respond to God's calling rather than retreat from uncertainty. • Commitment to God's purposes positions us to impact future generations. (12:34) John - I've got 2 sons struggling with drugs. Talk to them all the time about it. Not having control and putting it in God's hands. Bonita - My brother is in a nursing home. They're going to put him on hospice. Wondering if he's in the right place. How to navigate making decisions. Can't always meet what we're hoping to have. Hospice and not knowing how to navigate. I'm driving around with them right now. I surrender, but have no direction. I'm looking for sacred ground. Nobody understands the relationship. She died in a nursing home. I need guidance. What does it actually look like to surrender everything to Jesus? In Luke 4:31–44, we see Jesus teach with authority, command spiritual freedom, bring physical healing, and remain unwaveringly committed to the Father's purpose. The question is not just what Jesus does, but how we respond. This message walks through what it means to submit to His authority, bring our needs to Him, and learn to say no to good things so we can say yes to God's best. If you've ever wrestled with control, comfort, people-pleasing, or holding something back from God, this message is for you.• Jesus teaches and commands with true authority over both the spiritual and physical realms• We are invited to bring our spiritual and physical needs to Him in faith• Following Jesus means surrendering fully and saying no to lesser things for God's greater purposeKey Scriptures:Luke 4:31–44Matthew 5:43–44John 14:6Hebrews 1:3What is one good thing in your life that God may be asking you to lay down so you can fully say yes to Him? Confusion often sets in when life takes an unexpected turn—when hurt, disappointment, opposition, or spiritual attack clouds our perspective. From Psalm 71, this episode explains that the answer is not figuring everything out but choosing to trust the Lord. Focusing on confusion only deepens it, but fixing our eyes on Christ steadies the heart because God remains sovereign over every secondary cause. True deliverance comes not through self-effort but “in thy righteousness,” as Christ's enablement is expressed through dependent obedience and moment-by-moment reliance on Him.Topics DiscussedPsalm 71 and the problem of spiritual confusionHow focusing on hurt, frustration, or disappointment multiplies itTrust as the biblical cure for confusionGod's sovereignty over secondary causes and difficult circumstancesDeliverance “in thy righteousness”Dependent obedience and Christ's supernatural enablementPassive deliverance from sin's powerPeter walking on the water as an illustration of misplaced focusLiving by continual divine interventionKey TakeawaysWhat you focus on will shape your spiritual experience.Trust displaces confusion because it rests in God's character, not circumstances.God is at work even when events seem contradictory or painful.Self-dependent righteousness cannot deliver; Christ's righteousness can.The Christian life is lived through total surrender and total dependence. “The longer you stay on the wrong train, the more expensive it is to get home.”In this episode, I sit down with Leola, tantra teacher, bestselling author, and host of Talk Tantra To Me, for a conversation that gently roasts manifestation culture, flirts with devotion, and asks an interesting question: What if desire is how God speaks to us?We explore:- Why your desires are rarely about the thing (sorry)- How control issues are often just trust wounds in a trench coat- The difference between egoic craving and soul-level longing- Why “manifesting harder” might actually be anxiety in lingerie- How surrender doesn't mean giving up — it means giving over- God as lover, leader, and the one who may lovingly wreck your vision board- Why the body is still the most avoided spiritual teacher in the room- And what happens when you stop seducing outcomes and start seducing truth...This episode is for you if..- You're tired of forcing things to happen- You secretly suspect desire isn't the villain- Your vision board needs a gentle exorcism- Or you're ready to trust something wiser than your egoIt's deep. It's funny. It may lovingly call you out. Listen if you're ready to stop begging the universe & start having an honest conversation with it.
A reflection on James 4:13–17 and the call to live with humble dependence on God's will. Through my own unexpected vocational journey, I explore how faithfulness in unplanned seasons—especially quiet, ordinary ones—can become meaningful places of growth, obedience, and purpose when surrendered to God.

Revival Mom | Grow Deeper with God, Encourage children in the Lord, Christian Home
What does it actually mean to surrender to God? And more importantly, HOW do we do it? How often do we say we're giving something to God, but then we're still up at night thinking about it, trying to control it, losing our peace over it? So in this episode, I'm walking you through exactly how to surrender—whether it's your marriage, your kids, your finances, your business, or anything else the Holy Spirit is asking you to let go of. I share my own story of when God asked me to surrender my marriage (spoiler: it was terrifying), and the powerful questions the Holy Spirit gave me that made surrender to God actually practical instead of just a nice spiritual concept. I'll walk you through a beautiful exercise of packaging up what you need to surrender and offering it to Jesus as a gift. Trust me, there's so much freedom waiting for you on the other side of surrender. Grab your pen and paper for this one. Let's do this together! This episode addresses a tension many believers feel but rarely understand: why truth, rules, and even Scripture can feel lifeless or oppressive. Drawing from 2 Corinthians 3, Dr. Jim explains that the issue is not the Word of God, but the absence of dependence on the Spirit of God. True Christianity is not self-powered obedience but Spirit-empowered life.Topics DiscussedThe meaning of “the letter killeth, but the Spirit giveth life”Why truth without the Spirit produces frustration rather than transformationHow rules and standards provoke rebellion when divorced from graceThe difference between self-effort Christianity and Spirit-enabled obedienceWhy the solution is not rejecting the Word, but relying on the SpiritKey TakeawaysThe Bible is never the problem; dependence on self is.Obedience without the Spirit leads to defeat, not freedom. The Spirit gives life to truth, enabling joyful, willing obedience.Christianity only works when Christ Himself is the source of power.Real freedom comes through surrender and faith, not self-discipline alone. Bishop Robert Barron’s Sermons - Catholic Preaching and Homilies
Friends, our readings for the fourth and final Sunday of Advent are all about maybe the central motif of the spiritual life. Our culture today is so self-oriented: It's all about me and my choice. But that attitude is directly repugnant to the Bible; in fact, the Bible is constantly trying to move us out of that space and into a different space—namely, one of surrender to the higher purpose of God.
God's plan for Mary looked nothing like what anyone expected, yet it revealed a peace that comes not from control but surrender. This message reminds us that even the craziest plans are steady and secure when they are God's, and that our lives fit within His eternal, unstoppable purpose.
In this Faith Talks conversation, Janna opens up about a quiet but heavy fear many young women feel yet rarely express: the fear of wasting their lives. Through honest reflections on comparison, expectations, and the pressure to measure up, she shares how God has been reshaping her perspective. Her story offers a refreshing reminder that a life surrendered to Christ is never wasted, even when the path feels unseen or slow.Topics DiscussedThe subtle ways comparison fuels fear and insecurityWhy “falling behind” is more about perception than truthLearning to trust God with timing, calling, and identityHow hidden seasons often become the most shaping onesWhat surrender looks like when fear gets loudAllowing God to define significance instead of culture or peersKey TakeawaysFear of wasting your life usually grows in the gap between what you expected and what God is actually doing.Comparison blinds you to the quiet work of grace happening beneath the surface.God never wastes obedience; He wastes nothing surrendered to Him.Slow seasons are often the most formative, teaching humility, trust, and resilience. The antidote to fear isn't striving harder but resting more deeply in God's faithfulness.Faith Talks is a monthly program on the Thee Generation Podcast designed to help young ladies grow in faith and live it out daily. The moment you let go of your nets and follow Jesus, everything you thought you needed becomes small compared to the life He offers.
In this episode, Bobby reflects on six months of pastoring and draws young people into a powerful truth from Psalm 32. God desires to lead His children with the slightest glance, not the painful pressure required for a stubborn horse or mule. How to Surrender to God When You Don't Want To
Bobby looks back on the life and ministry of Pastor Russ G. Young, the faithful shepherd who shaped his family, church, and calling. From a hungry youth group that exploded from ~15 teens to hundreds, to a church built—literally and spiritually—on the Word, Pastor Young modeled uncompromising preaching, Spirit-dependence, and love for souls. Bobby recounts personal moments (including sharing gratitude at Pastor Young's bedside) and connects the story to a call for total surrender and confidence that, in Christ, we are “more than conquerors.” The episode is part remembrance and part rallying cry for young believers to say “yes” to Jesus and watch God use their lives.Topics DiscussedPastor Russ Young's legacy in Maple Shade/Pennsauken, NJPreaching the Bible plainly and applying it to real teen issuesYouth ministry that was both fun and gospel-focused (“Bigger & Better,” outreach, soulwinning)God's providence in redirecting callings (missionary aviation → pastor)The power of Spirit-anointed preaching and evangelismSurrender, obedience, and living as “more than conquerors” in ChristGratitude, grief, and hope in the face of deathKey TakeawaysFaithful, clear Bible preaching—without apology or compromise—shapes lives and churches.God often redirects good plans to His best; say “yes” to Jesus and trust His leading.Healthy youth ministry blends joyful activity with bold, gospel-centered proclamation.Legacy multiplies through people reached, discipled, and sent.In Christ, even grief is framed by victory: we are more than conquerors through His love. Are you exhausted from trying to be a “better Christian,” follow all the rules, or just fix yourself? In this episode, Heather Creekmore dives into the age-old dilemma every believer faces: Am I supposed to be working on me—and if so, how much of it is up to me, and how much is God’s job? Inspired by the Crowder song “He’s Working on Me Still,” Heather explores the difference between self-powered striving and Spirit-powered transformation. Using honest stories, biblical wisdom (especially from Galatians 5), and practical illustrations, she helps Christian women understand why hustling for holiness leaves us tired—and how true freedom and growth comes when we move from “I’m working on me” to “He’s working on me.” In This Episode: Why spiritual striving, religious rule-following, and willpower can’t bring long-term freedom How diet culture mindsets sneak into our faith and make us rely on formulas instead of God What it means to step out of the driver’s seat and let God be in control (with relatable analogies and humor) The power of relationship over religion and why faith is more than just “doing all the things” How to recognize if your spiritual life is based on head knowledge, not heart transformation Practical steps to move from self-reliance to Spirit-dependence—including honest reflection questions and the importance of daily worship Key Takeaway:Stop striving for self-improvement and start leaning into God’s grace.
