Dr. Hoffman continues his conversation with Dr. David Chernoff, Chief Medical Officer of Setpoint Medical.
Dr. David Chernoff, Chief Medical Officer of Setpoint Medical, discusses electrically driven vagus nerve stimulation (VNS) as a “neuroimmune modulation” approach to autoimmune and inflammatory disease. Chernoff explains the vagus nerve's sensory role in monitoring organs and signaling the brainstem and spleen to regulate immune responses, and how precise stimulation can reduce pro-inflammatory cytokines without immunosuppression. Setpoint's miniaturized, wireless, MRI-compatible implant is placed in an outpatient 45-minute neck procedure and delivers one minute of daily stimulation titrated to an upper comfort level; long-term safety is supported by prior surgical experience and a 242-patient blinded RA study with two-year data, leading to FDA approval for rheumatoid arthritis. The discussion covers add-on use with medications, potential steroid tapering, reimbursement, and research in Crohn's disease, relapsing MS (vision and remyelination), and other conditions, including psoriatic arthritis, lupus, and neurodegenerative diseases.

Magnus Seter is an award-winning educational writer and game designer and a founder of The Yellow Hand creative collective. He is a well known figure in the Swedish RPG industry, both as an avid gamer and as an accomplished creator. Magnus started playing roleplaying games in 1982 with the very first version of Drakar och Demoner. Because of this, he began tapping away at the family typewriter, writing extra rules and adventures for his own gaming group and shamelessly copying the style of the trailblazers of the day. Immersing himself in the hobby, Magnus soon discovered other RPGs, such as Dungeons & Dragons, Call of Cthulhu, Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay, and Cyberpunk. We delve further into the laboratories, workshops, and even state coffers of East Rome with Gerasimos Merianos. East Roman alchemy becomes mathematised. The parameters of alchemical secrecy change. We encounter our first alchemical con-men. And Michæl Psellos showcases his ability to see which way the wind is blowing, this time in the realm of high-stakes alchemical politics.
Podcast episodes – The Secret History of Western Esotericism Podcast (SHWEP)
In Part I of a two-parter we explore the contours of East Roman alchemy from the seventh century onward. Gerasimos Merianos is our guide to the many and varied authors writing in the alchemical genre aside from (but including) the great Stephanos. The roots of the western alchemical tradition lie in the east.

They emphasize the role of prayer, accountability, vision, and expectation (PAVE) in fostering a disciple-making movement. They recount various personal stories and examples of how these principles have led to the multiplication of disciple-making groups among students, ultimately inspiring transformational faith journeys. The script also includes a practical component where participants are encouraged to pray and reflect on God's role in their disciple-making efforts.
Thank you for listening to our Surge Church Podcast. The Book of Acts ends with Paul's first detainment in Rome. Luke provides no sequel to Acts, but we know from Church history and scriptural references that Paul was acquitted by Emperor Nero. This allowed Paul to embark on his 4th Missionary Journey to Spain. We can learn from Paul's life important elements to growth and expansion. Even while in confinement under house arrest, Paul remained productive, he had a plan of action for the future and he lived dedicated to his mission to the very end.
Thank you for listening to our Surge Church Podcast. The Apostle Paul's ministry in Ephesus provides important insights on growth and expansion. As his ministry in the region grew in size and impact, he protected the momentum with strategic shifts and by moving with urgency. As we hunger for growth, we must be willing to make shifts along the way and operate with urgency in order to expand.
Thank you for listening to our Surge Church Podcast. Expansion requires action and action requires growth. As long as we remain settled in our traditions, routines and comfort zones we will never move beyond our circumstances. We must be willing to grow beyond ourselves, grow beyond our comfort levels and grow beyond in prayer in order for God's ability to empower us for supernatural results.
Some more thoughts on responsibility and doing other things in the midst of this. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
Thank you for listening to our Surge Church Podcast. In the beginning of the Old Testament, God commanded the first man Adam to multiply, fill the earth and subdue it. In the beginning of the New Testament, Jesus told the first believers to spread the gospel to all of the world. God is a God of increase and expansion and that mandate has fallen to us today. We must move beyond the present to continue to grow and expand.
A definite shift in who I am. I've changed a lot, and I figure here we can start exploring how much. Part 1 of 3 Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Today we will complete our study of Acts and as you'll see it ends in a rather unique way. Some have referred to this book as the Unfinished Symphony. But that's very much intentional as the story continues right on into the present day. It's all about spreading the gospel message, in spite of the dangers and roadblocks! The book of Acts describes the gospel moving from Jerusalem to Rome. To support this ministry financially, visit: https://www.oneplace.com/donate/621/29
We're told to follow the 10 Commandments, but when we try we find we cannot keep them. The Commandments are there to show how much we need God. Jesus fulfilled the Law in His death, burial and resurrection. Therefore, we live in gratitude to God for His Grace in allowing us to live righteously through the power of His Holy Spirit.Donate to Moody Radio: http://moodyradio.org/donateto/livingalegacySee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
In Acts chapter twenty-eight, the apostle Paul is making his way to Rome through a storm, and then then a shipwreck and to top it off a snake bite! That's a lot to cope with! Now he's on the last leg of his journey, and he receives what must have been an unexpected yet very timely encouragement from some fellow believers, who traveled down from Rome to greet him. Dr. Crawford Loritts warns that grace has been abused and law has been minimized. We have some wrong assumptions about the place of the law in the Christian life and the place of grace in the Christian life. God is the same in the Old Testament as He is in the New Testament. The standards are the same. How God relates to us, having maintained His standard, is different. In the second half of my conversation with Matt Fraction, we shift gears to talk about his ever-evolving writing process, from Batman to his Eisner-winning work on Jimmy Olsen and other standout projects from across his career.Fraction digs into how his approach to storytelling has changed over the years, balancing structure with spontaneity, and what keeps him inspired as both a writer and a fan.We also dive into today's movie and TV landscape—what's working, what isn't, and how the comics medium continues to shape (and sometimes outshine) its Hollywood adaptations. To wrap things up, Matt and I swap some of our favorite cult film recommendations—deep cuts and offbeat classics that deserve a spotlight. It's a wide-ranging, candid discussion that blends comics craft, pop culture commentary, and cinephile passion.

The long and short - I'm ready to come back to the microphone after depression pulled my feet out from under me, but I can promise that it will not be the same as it was. So over the next few episodes, I just want to be honest about where I've been, how I got here, and what has changed.I split this into 3 episodes just so it felt a little less overwhelming and a little more digestible. There won't be much in the way of rhyme, reason, or formality. **Trigger warning - discussion of depression, mental health, and suicidal ideation
Part Three. Welcome to a special three-part series with Colin Savage. we'll dive into Colin's fascinating journey as a self-proclaimed change addict turned change guru. Colin's career spans continents, cultures, and industries—seven countries lived in, seven more seconded to, and projects in over 70 nations. From organizational transformation to personal reinvention, he's mastered the art of embracing change and applying those lessons to life. Here, we'll explore the learning required for transformation—why Colin believes lifelong learning is outdated and skill stacking is the future. And finally, we'll tackle AI, human intelligence, and why every one of us needs a personal AI strategy. Buckle up—this one's a ride! Key Highlights of Our Interview: Skill Stacking: Building the Professional Toolkit “Skill stacking, by contrast, is about curating abilities that complement one another professionally. It's not about learning everything, but about combining practical skills—like emotional intelligence and technical expertise—to tackle complex challenges with a well-rounded approach.” AI as a Symphony, Not a Solo “The real power of AI lies in its harmony with other tools and disciplines. No single tool can address every need, but by leveraging the strengths of multiple technologies in concert, professionals can tackle challenges faster, smarter, and more effectively.” Cheating AI? The Consequences Are Real “From students to professionals, relying on AI without human effort leads to steep penalties. A student might fail, a professional might face fraud charges. The higher the stakes, the more critical it is to leverage—not outsource—human intelligence.” From Problem-Solving to Value Creation “AI isn't just a tool for fixing problems—it's a way to grow and extend what's already working. By pairing the strengths of people and machines, businesses can unlock untapped potential and deliver results that weren't possible before. _________________________ Connect with us: Host: Vince Chan | Guest: Colin Savage Chief Change Officer: Make Change Ambitiously.
