(2 Thessalonians 3:6-18) - In this section of his letter Paul would command the Thessalonians to take the next step - in dealing with a small group of unruly brethren who were expecting to be supported by the - local church. They were to be corrected and restored to normal fellowship when they returned - to living according to the traditions they had been taught. - [37 minutes]

And so Barnabas took Mark and sailed to Cyprus; but Paul chose Silas and departed, being 5commended by the brethren to the grace of God. [1 hour]

(2 Thessalonians 2:13-3:5) - Paul expressed his thankfulness to God for their reception of the gospel which had changed - their lives in such significant ways. He encouraged them to be firmly established in the truths - that they were taught, so they would not be quickly shaken by false teaching. Paul also asked - God to strengthen them so that they would have the courage to carry out the commands given - to them by the authority of the Lord Jesus Christ. - [33 minutes]

(2 Thessalonians 2:1-12) - Paul confirms his original instruction to the Thessalonians that Christ could come - for church-age saints at any moment. The Day of the Lord cannot begin until after - the departure of the church and the appearing of the man of lawlessness, who is being - restrained by the Holy Spirit until God's appointed time. - A separate chart shows evidence for the identity of the Restrainer. - [48 minutes]

(1 Thessalonians 5:12-28) - Paul began this final section of his letter by encouraging the brethren to respect and appreciate - the leaders who are accountable for the welfare of the church. As members of the family of God - they were to prop up the weak and bear with the failings of others in love. Their lives should be - characterized by rejoicing, prayer, and thanksgiving. - [46 minutes]

(1 Thessalonians 5:1-11) - In chapter five Paul described the coming Day of the Lord before affirming that church-age saints - are not destined to experience that time of righteous wrath and divine judgment. - A separate chart is provided contrasting believers to unbelievers. - [39 minutes]

(1 Thessalonians 4:13-18) - In this chapter Paul revealed new information about the coming of the Lord to gather church-age believers before - the time when God's righteous wrath is poured out in judgment upon a Christ-rejecting world. (1 Thessalonians 4:1-12) - Paul begins the main body of his letter by praising the Thessalonians' progress, - and then by addressing two areas of concern. - [34 minutes]

(1 Thessalonians 3:1-13) - Paul completes the defense of his ministry and provides a glimpse into his emotional struggle - over his separation from them. He shares his immense joy at the good news from Timothy's report. - [28 minutes]

(1 Thessalonians 2:1-20) - In this chapter Paul denies several of the accusations brought against him by his opponents, and - he shares the truth about the positive and righteous ways he conducted his ministry in Thessalonica. - A separate chart is provided showing each charge and Paul's answer in this chapter. - [44 minutes]

For it seemed good to the Holy Spirit, and to us, to lay upon you no greater burden than these necessary things: that you abstain from things offered to idols, from blood, from things strangled, and from sexual immorality. [1 hour 1 minute]
