Raleigh NC Cosplayer, Jenna Say What!? joins Allie this week to discuss how she got started with Cosplay, the challenges, and how it's impacted her life. ⁣Meet My Guest!Hi! I'm Jenna Say What?!? You may know me from my cosplays, but I am so much more than that. I started out modeling around 2010 with Blu Water Modeling. There I not only modeled but also helped out with the makeup alongside the talented Contessa.I went to NC Comic-Con back in 2012 in a Trashy.com Captain America Costume and TERRIBLY-made shield. I felt WAY too overwhelmed especially since I didn't feel I had the talent to make homemade cosplays so I stuck Cap back in the closet and decided never again.In 2014 I decided to give NC Comic Con one more try. I had purchased a Captain America Shield and decided to attempt sewing. My husband gave me a quick lesson on the machine and he left for a job, this meant I was on my own to try to make this outfit. For the first time, in probably my whole life, I felt powerful. I felt like I could take on everything and anything.This would eventually be something I used to battle my anxiety and depression.In March 2016 I would take my past to the C2E2 stage as It's Not Your Fault, a panel I created to talk about overcoming abuse and bullying through cosplay. It honestly meant a lot to me to debut it in my home state. We went to NC Comic Con 2018 and lived to tell the tale! We saw Gerard, met some of you guys, and heard some intriguing not news-news about potential future Killjoys content. If you want a debrief of everything that went down, here it is.

The superfans are back to discuss the uproar of the Turtles being in Injustice 2 but no mention of the Power Rangers. The Joy of Comics Podcast, Episode 9: Exploring Millarworld with Talent Search Winner Cliff Bumgardner On this special edition of The Joy of Comics, we (Rich, Jordan and Kevin) welcome local NC writer/filmmaker Cliff Bumgardner to the party for a conversation of all things geek. And let's just say that the timing couldn't be better. Cliff is one of the winners of Mark Millar's recent Millarworld Talent Search, and the short story he penned (based on the lesser-known Millar series American Jesus) will be appearing in the Millarworld 2016 Annual, due out on July 13. And if that weren't enough, the film company he works for is about to unveil their new documentary about NC Comic Con - a sort of "primer" on what it takes behind-the-scenes to organize a local comics convention.  Our conversation starts with a look back at Cliff's journey to the precipice of film and comics stardom, and includes some fascinating stories about the crazy things that happened along the way (a major movie deal that fell through at the last second? Really?). From there we chat a bit about where Cliff's Millarworld story - "Undeath" - fits into the American Jesus mythos, and then digress into an awesome discussion of all the cool things we've each been reading, watching, playing etc. Oh, and by the end we will totally be spoiling the series finale of 90's TV show Dinosaurs - listen at your own risk.  So to recap: if you're a fan of controversial Scottish comics scribes, anthropomorphized baby dinos, creation myths in comics and in real life (see what I did there?) and a whole lot of geek-culture inside baseball, you should feel right at home.
