THE HALLOWEEN SPECIAL!!
It's been four years since the Sickos covered One Piece, and a lot has happened since then. Tom and Guest co-Sicko Marquez are current on One Piece and ready to yap about all the latest developments in this incredible comic book. A lot of it stupid. A lot of it is goofy. But mostly? It kick ass and make us cry. We know this may hold little appeal to non-One Piece fans, but for the fellow freaks this episode is a rip-roarin delight

If you've ever promised yourself you'd "just have one" piece of Halloween candy—only to find yourself knee-deep in wrappers an hour later—this episode is for you. In today's conversation, Steph and I are diving into why Halloween candy (and all "off-limits" foods) can feel so irresistible for chronic dieters—and what you can actually do to change that. Spoiler: it's not about sugar addiction, it's about the scarcity mindset diet culture trained into your brain. You'll learn how to: Break the all-or-nothing cycle that turns one bite into a binge Neutralize your relationship with "forbidden" foods so they lose their power Eat candy (or any food) with confidence, not guilt Practice self-trust instead of relying on willpower Reflect instead of spiral when you overeat If you're tired of feeling out of control around sweets and want a calm, drama-free relationship with food—not just on Halloween, but year-round—this episode will show you exactly how to get there.
00:15: Happy Halloween Week! What are you looking forward to the most this week? 01:15: Initial impressions of the win over the Falcons. It sort of mirrored the previous couple of games; slow start, excellent finish. 03:34: “The conversation of the New England Patriots being a playoff team is real. …. That's a legit conversation that everyone is having.” 04:00: “If the playoffs started today, they'd be the No. 2 seed behind Indianapolis.” 04:50: There aren't a lot of issues with this team at this point, but one of them is slow starts on the defensive side of the ball. 05:33: On the Patriots' defensive being “reactive” right out of the gate. 07:38: “Let loose a little bit” on defense early. 09:09: On the quarterback play continuing to camouflage some of the early defensive issues. 10:15: On Kayshon Boutte's 39-yard touchdown catch. What stood out for Hogan on that reception, not to mention the throw from Maye? 11:52: Maye's “deep ball is tremendous.” 13:11: Kayshon Boutte has “become one of those go-to guys.” 14:05: On Josh McDaniels' imprint on Drake Maye. 15:55: Where does the over-the-shoulder catch — in terms of degree of difficulty for a wide receiver — rate? “The hardest catch in football.” 18:19: On Stefon Diggs and his ability to “shoot late hands.” What does that mean, and why is it important for a receiver to get that part of his game down? “Stef does this really well. … So does Boutte.” 21:00: Is there a guy who you played with who was really good at late hands? 24:20: Looking forward to the Falcons. 24:45: Atlanta is an odd team that's been all over the place this year. 25:10: “I'm going to keep saying this … it is about New England right now.” 27:07: The great thing about Josh and Mike is their ability to make halftime adjustments. 28:35: On playing through the grind of three games in 11 days. How do you get through that, mentally and physically? It comes down to preparation. 32:33: The Patriots are “not playing to end this thing in December right now. [They're] one of the better teams in the NFL right now.” 33:45: On the looming challenge of Tampa Bay. 36:23: Latest MVP odds from Fan Duel — Maye is third on the list. 37:30: On the best Halloween candy. 38:03: Worst Halloween candy. 38:59: How many pieces of Halloween candy are allowed per day? “I am very aware of how much sugar my kids have on Halloween night. I will be the bad guy. I don't care.” 40:05: Halloween etiquette: Go to the house and take ONE PIECE of candy. 40:55: Are the Hogan's a full-size candy bar household? We continue our journeys through the worlds of One Piece and Death Note. We contemplate the morality of murder and the practicality of holding a sword in your mouth. You know, deep philosophical stuff.
Guy spent 2 years and $4M building Snyk to $100K ARR. Thousands of developers loved the product. They just wouldn't pay. Then he figured out the problem: he had product-user fit, but not product-buyer fit. Developers loved Snyk. Security teams (the actual buyers) didn't care about it. The distance between user and buyer was killing him.So Guy spent a year building governance features, reporting, and enterprise capabilities—all the stuff developers didn't care about but security teams needed to write checks. Four months later, Snyk hit $650K ARR. A year after that, $4.5M. Then $19M. Today it's over $300M ARR.This episode breaks down the brutal reality of PLG when your user isn't your buyer, why Guy thinks the worst outcome for a founder is getting stuck (not failing), and how he's now raising $125M for his next company Tessl. If you're building PLG, selling to enterprise, or wondering why your users love you but won't pay—this is required listening. Why You Should Listen:Learn why thousands of users loving your product means nothing if they won't payDiscover the difference between product-user fit and product-buyer fitUnderstand why the worst outcome isn't failure—it's getting stuck in the grey zoneMaster the art of anchoring in the future instead of just filling today's gapsKeywords:startup podcast, startup podcast for founders, product market fit, PLG strategy, product-user fit vs product-buyer fit, developer tools, security startup, enterprise sales, bottoms-up GTM, Snyk founderChapters:(00:00:00) Intro(00:01:37) The first start up :Blaze.io"(00:06:16) The Beginning & Concept of Skyk(00:15:27) Why use Snyk(00:23:41) The Product Led Growth for Snyk(00:33:08) Raising for Snyk(00:38:58) The Beginning & Concept of TESL(00:46:39) Raising for TESL(00:48:52) Finding PMF(00:49:26) One Piece of AdviceSend me a message to let me know what you think!

One Piece fans waiting to complete the "Zou Island" arc on Netflix finally have a release date. The streaming service is soon set to add the arc's final batch of episodes, allowing subscribers to stream the entire saga on the platform starting this November. The anime's "Zou Island" arc follows the Straw Hat crew as they arrive on an island situated on a giant sentient elephant named Zunesha. The island is home to the Mink Tribe, whose nation is found in ruins after a devastating attack by the Beasts Pirates. The events of the arc lead to major revelations about the Road Poneglyphs, while also setting the stage for the "Wano" arc. Netflix has notably divided the "Zou Island" arc into three parts for its platform -- Season 25 (Episodes 751-760), Season 26 (Episodes 761-771) and Season 27 (Episodes 772-782). The first two parts of the Zou Arc began streaming on Oct. 1, and according to What's on Netflix, the concluding batch of episodes is officially listed for a Nov. 1 release.Support The Podcast!https://creators.spotify.com/pod/show/roose366/subscribeFollow For More Content &Streams!Science Podcast: https://open.spotify.com/show/5nFXe9dPeWrMpyObyAlrnF?si=7358d1cf32cb45b7Youtube Gaming: https://www.youtube.com/@RooseJp/videosTiktok: https://www.tiktok.com/@podcastonanime

Amar is a 5x founder who helped birth Tinder (it was the 10th project—after the first 9 failed), then sold his next company to Ford for putting a platform in every single vehicle they make. But the wildest part? He got Ford to commit in under a year by doing something most founders would never do: he asked for SO MUCH money that only the CEO could approve it. That one move made him "part of the transformational change" instead of a vendor they could ignore. In this episode, Amar breaks down the exact pricing strategy he used to land an 8-figure deal, why founders who sell discounted pricing are sabotaging themselves, and what it actually takes to compete against billion-dollar incumbents like Carta (his current company, Mantle, is doing exactly that). If you're trying to sell to enterprise, wondering if you should bootstrap or raise, or questioning whether your market even exists—this episode will reset how you think about all of it. Amar's built companies in mobile, vehicles, security, and fintech. It's the unofficial start to the weekend and even though both Jean & Office Cora were out today, Brian still hooked you up with a few things to do in the 715 this weekend! Plus, it's been a few weeks since we played "Hypothetical Thursday" with the CMN Radioton on the 9th and Brian on vacation last Thursday, but Brian got back to it by asking "If you could own ONE piece of horror movie memorabilia, what would it be and why?" In the news this morning, another new candidate for Governor of Wisconsin announces their intention to run in the election, a recall on several brands of Coca Cola soda, and the Mega Millions jackpot is growing! In sports, Week 8 in the NFL kicks off tonight, the Bucks got a nice season-opening win over the Wizards last night, the World Series begins tomorrow night with the Dodgers in Toronto to take on the Blue Jays, and the NFL doubles down on Bad Bunny as the halftime performer at the upcoming Super Bowl. Elsewhere in sports, some changes are coming to the Pro Bowl, Jayden Daniels will be out on MNF for the Commanders, a new manager has been hired for the San Francisco Giants, and the NCAA is going to allow it's athletes to bet on professional sports. Cool story about a giant pumpkin-boat race that was won by a dude in a "Buddy the Elf" costume! And don't forget that today is "National Slap Your Annoying Co-Worker Day"!!! We let you know what's on TV today/tonight and after yesterday's list of top zombie movies, we looked at some of the top horror/comedy movies of all time. Crazy stat from a recent survey found that 25% of workers haven't taken ONE DAY of their vacation this year. What are we even doing anymore???? Not sure if you saw this, but Hall of Famer Randy Johnson is known for a lot of things…like his mullet, killing that bird with a pitch, becoming an NFL sideline photographer…and being a pretty cool dude when it comes to autographs! And in today's edition of "Bad News with Happy Music", we had stories about a #FloridaMan who was the epitome of hypocritical, an uptick in screaming clubs, a kid in Baltimore was almost arrested because his bag of Doritos was mistaken for a gun, a woman is facing charges after sending her husband an A.I. generated picture of an intruder in their home, and a guy in Thailand who was performing penis-enlargement surgeries out of the back of his Toyota Corolla.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
We start by asking some questions about political control over police forces before jumping into a discussion about Erebor, the new Silicon Valley bank founded by Palmer Luckey and Joe Lonsdale with backing from Peter Thiel, which leads us nicely into an exegesis of Thiel's deeply scholastic interpretation of the biblical revelations contained within One Piece—plus some choice bits from Antichrist lecture series. ••• US approves new bank backed by billionaires with ties to Donald Trump https://www.ft.com/content/202d68bd-629e-42da-a938-c612bc839bdf ••• OpenAI, Nvidia Fuel $1 Trillion AI Market With Web of Circular Deals https://www.bloomberg.com/news/features/2025-10-07/openai-s-nvidia-amd-deals-boost-1-trillion-ai-boom-with-circular-deals ••• Voyages to the End of the World | Peter Thiel, Sam Wolfe https://firstthings.com/voyages-to-the-end-of-the-world/ ••• Inside billionaire Peter Thiel's private lectures: Warnings of ‘the Antichrist' and U.S. destruction https://www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2025/10/10/peter-thiel-antichrist-lectures-leaked/ ••• Inside tech billionaire Peter Thiel's off-the-record lectures about the antichrist https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/oct/10/peter-thiel-lectures-antichrist ••• The Real Stakes, and Real Story, of Peter Thiel's Antichrist Obsession https://www.wired.com/story/the-real-stakes-real-story-peter-thiels-antichrist-obsession/ Standing Plugs: ••• Order Jathan's new book: https://www.ucpress.edu/book/9780520398078/the-mechanic-and-the-luddite ••• Subscribe to Ed's substack: https://substack.com/@thetechbubble ••• Subscribe to TMK on patreon for premium episodes: https://www.patreon.com/thismachinekills Hosted by Jathan Sadowski (bsky.app/profile/jathansadowski.com) and Edward Ongweso Jr. (www.x.com/bigblackjacobin).
