Welcome to the podcast. In this episode you're going to be hearing the next of my ‘fireside chat' conversations with a Clarity Coach who's having a big impact in their clients lives. And my idea for these conversations is that we'd be talking shop; the kind of conversation that I have with my colleagues over coffee, and that most coaches never get to hear. So in this podcast, you're going to be hearing a conversation I had with bestselling author, speaker and coach, Nick Bottini. And by the way, I'm running a series of masterclasses for coaches in the Thriving Coaches Community on Facebook. They're totally free, and our next mini-masterclass is on impostor syndrome, and the one after that is on transforming your money-mindset. So just head over to the Thriving Coaches Community on Facebook and I'll see you there. So now to the episode.

If your life were a cinema what would be playing? Prepare for a bit of a mind bender as Author, Speaker and Coach, Nick Bottini shares insights on the possibilities of life with a movie experience metaphor. “Perhaps March was a thriller. April, more of a horror movie. Maybe May was a tragedy, but June was more of a comedy,” writes Nick Bottini. “Your ability to know (and remember) that you are never trapped in the movie is what allows you the freedom to really enjoy it, and it's exactly the same with the movie of life.” Featured in: 'The Hindsight Edition' of AwareNow Magazine Topic: Empowerment, Wellness, Self-Help, Cinema Produced by: Awareness Ties Written & Narrated by: Nick Bottini Podcast Soundtrack by: Thavius Beck Episode Soundtrack by: Sol Rising (The Opening)

Nick Bottini is the author of Just Play: The Simple Truth behind Musical Excellence and this podcast is relevant whatever game you happen to be playing in life right now. We discuss: What lies behind high-performance The truth behind being 'in flow' as a requirement for great performance How we can be desperate to change our experience Doing things when you don't feel at your best The nature of pain in light of this understanding Enjoy!
Today we’re talking with Nick Bottini, a career and performance coach who has worked with high performers from around the world including child prodigies, competition winners, rock stars, entrepreneurs, international sportspeople and elite music college students. Nick is the author of Just Play: The Simple Truth Behind Musical Excellence, a best-selling book which challenges the current thinking on performance psychology and offers a fundamentally different way of thinking about the experience of learning music and how to achieve our full potential. Nick’s teaching is deep. Depending on your background it may seem very odd, or it may be exactly what you’ve been desperate to hear someone put clearly into words. His successful techniques are rooted in long-standing spiritual traditions yet there’s no dogma or belief system required to benefit from these ideas. Nick brings it all home to roost with practical ways to shift your mindset and successfully achieve the musical levels you desire. As well as some deep and profound ideas, we also make sure to cover the very practical implications of it all in the context of learning music. For example we talk about: • Why most musicians never feel fully settled or at home in their musical lives or identity as a musician, and how that relates to performance anxiety and impostor syndrome. • The “elephant in the room” when it comes to modern performance psychology - and what the alternative is. • Two unorthodox but effective ways to flip how you approach music practice - and, unlike some of what you may have heard on this show in the past, this is not about “enjoying practice more” The lessons in this episode can positively affect not just your musicality and musical potential, but your life and potential in general. That’s why we’re so excited to share this with you! Enjoy. Subscribe For Future Episodes! In this episode of the podcast, you’re going to be hearing a conversation I had with a good friend and colleague, Nick Bottini. Over the past couple of years he’s gone from being the music teacher in a school to being a bestselling author, speaker and coach who’s passionate about sharing the inside-out understanding with musicians. And while hundreds of thousands of people are now exploring and having insights into this understanding, there are relatively few people who are managing to share this understanding effectively. Nick’s an example of someone who’s been proactive in navigating that journey from having his OWN insights into the inside-out nature of life, to helping other people to have THEIR own realisations, but that’s not where he started. In the beginning, Nick experienced what people often call ‘impostor syndrome’ when it came to sharing the principles with musicians. He said, “I did hold off sharing with musicians because I felt like ‘Who am I to share it at all’ and sharing it on my home territory is the scariest thing to do because it's like I've got real credibility to lose. I could be ‘that guy that's always talking about that thing’ you know, and and how will people react to that?” And here’s one of the reasons I’m really excited to be sharing this conversation with you. As you may already know, at our company, we believe the most valuable things you can discover are how experience is created and who you really are. Our mission is to inspire and educate a generation to experience lives of clarity, resilience and wellbeing. And one of the things we’ve realised is that the world needs more people who can share the inside-out understanding with others. While Nick’s story is going to be an inspiration for people who want to ‘get this understanding out there’, there’s an important message for all of us in it: That the most important place to share what you’ve seen is on your ‘home turf’; in the way you’re living your life, and connecting with the people around you. By the way - whether you have an audience you’d like to reach, like Nick, or you just want to share what you’ve realised with the people already in your world, we’ve just launched a new membership site called Clarity Pro. It’s designed for you to have everything you need to share the principles like a pro, with anybody, on any topic and in any situation. To find out more, go to www.JamieSmart.com/claritypro

So what accounts for the so-called genius in people, and does everyone have it? Why are some people brilliant at certain things while others can only dream of acquiring the same skills, ability or art. Is it that we (humans) are destined to find our purpose and genius, whatever it is? If so, where do we look? Nick Bottini is a multi-instrumentalist, consultant and performance coach. During this podcast show, Nick and Denise explore all levels of human performance from beginners through to what looks like being super-human. The design behind the human operating system is the same for all of us; we all breath, our hearts beat, our bodies age, and we all learn and explore from the second we are born. Many people, however, do not realise their potential, and under-achieve. They accept mediocrity due to limiting beliefs around what's possible for them living these physical bodies.
This episode is a little bit different to the usual format because it’s the recording of a conversation I had with Clarity Coach and Mentor, Nick Bottini. I met Nick a couple of years ago when he was in the beta-test group for the programme that became 'The Thriving Coaches Blueprint’. Nick is a coach; he wanted to grow his practice and he got more and more interested in the principles behind clarity. Now Nick has written a book called ‘Just Play’. He’s doing amazing stuff, some of which you will hear about in this episode. We got on a call because he wanted to explore ideas about how he could get his book to reach as many people as possible and how to get it on to the bestseller lists. Part of it is a coaching session and part of it is a chat between friends about something he wants to accomplish - something I have experience of. But as you’ll hear at certain points in the conversation it goes much deeper and into the domain of Clarity Coaching and (as you’ll hear), that’s where the turning point in the conversation is.
