You’re an actor. You do emotions for a living. Your emotions trump logic and reasoning. And that’s why you’re going to be successful. But that doesn’t mean you don’t have your doubts.... This story is to share how I overcame a challenging goal: Grabbing last minute tickets to closing weekend of a Broadway in Chicago show. And the lessons I learned: Nearly giving up. Getting emotionally drained. And doing absolutely everything to prove the haters wrong. I’m guessing you’ll be able to relate to this - and snag some takeaways :) Have you signed up for the free actor self-care newsletter? Acting is stressful enough. What’s more stressful is when we don’t know why we’re so damn stressed! And how about all those “I should just be grateful and appreciate things” thoughts that tell you not to feel the (really legit) way you’re feeling right now? I got you, friend. Head on over to www.tonyrossicoaching.com to sign up for the free actor self-care newsletter. I’ll share tips, tricks, and stories (that I don’t post anywhere else) every week, just for artists. OH - and you’ll also gain access to my free give away, “How to Win the Day!” Through my own self care routine, I’ve identified three ways you can win the day and make it much easier to experience more positive emotions. Whether you’re going to a day job, heading to an audition, or having one of those “I don’t have time to eat or sleep!” weeks - this audio has some tips for you. Head over to www.tonyrossicoaching.com now and sign up for the email newsletter to grab it - because honestly, you deserve to start winning your day. Wanna chat with me? Stop me if you HATE being told… Eat healthy You need to meditate Do you have any idea how much sugar that has?! Or my favorite…. You’re going to get sick if you keep getting this stressed out over everything. ...sorry if I just made your stomach turn with all of those statements. I know how frustrating it can be hearing them. I used to be a rebel against any of this advice. I heard conventional advice about being healthy and stressing less….but none of made me want to actually do anything. Besides, unless we’re literally confined to our beds because we’re so sick - how often do we actually want to do anything about it?? One of the reasons I love Kelsey Mathes so much is because she breaks down the whole “healthy living” thing. It’s people like her who help me actually want to be a healthier person, because I can better understand exactly why I’m getting as sick and stressed out as I do sometimes. If you’re still on the fence about listening to this week’s interview with Kelsey, here are some things that we cover that might help: How she used to suffer anxiety, panic attacks, and migraines Why she opted to go the holistic route over conventional medicine - and how it saved her money! What her thoughts are on conventional medicine (it might surprise you) How we all have “social contracts” and how they affect our food choices The number one reason we’re getting sick all the time A little about Kelsey Mathes: Kelsey Mathes is a Chicago-based world traveler, and Life-Coach, specializing in Vedic meditation and holistic nutrition. Kelsey's mission is to help clients uplift their lives utilizing ancient, tried-and-true systems, while making them practical for the modern person. Have you ever heard a self care guru say, “Stop getting in your own way” ? And has that ever irked you - not because of them, but because you want to know HOW you’re getting in your own way? Yeah. Me too. So this week, allow me to share a very #notperfect story (involving a Starbucks barista) that is a PRIME example of me getting in my own way…. Things to expect in this week’s episode: I realized while recording that I made a VERY #notperfect error while typing the show notes for last week…. I share with you how I haaaaate getting home at a stupid late hour. How I learned the names of nearly every waiter and hotel staff member while I was on vacation... Sponsors! LISTEN TIL THE END BECAUSE I GOT SUCH A GOOD SURPRISE FOR Y'ALL! ...or just click the link here to find out now: https://www.facebook.com/events/281434719313818/ Today's episode: Is it just me - or is it REALLY uncomfortable to get compliments in praise based on one area of your life, when you know there are six or seven other areas of your life that are, like, more than #notperfecty?? Even with our mentors, we see them as more financially stable than us - but do we know for certain how they’re feeling with things like family?? Or with celebrities - sure, man have career fulfillment. But what about relationship fulfillment? Are they getting enough real love and attention, even from their friends? Today I’m going to share three things that make me really uncomfortable whenever I hear the phrase “Things are going so well for you!” There is no such thing as a perfect life. We all just handle these things differently. Thanks for listening :) Tony Recommends…. We got a little heavy on this week’s topic of goodbye’s. Sure, some of them we can deal with, like when we’re in a show and then it ends. But what about those other times when we AREN’T expecting things to end? Topics we cover in regards to goodbyes: The different types of goodbyes. Why they can be so damn painful. How to handle those goodbyes we knew were coming. (End of show, end of a temporary job, etc.) How to handle those goodbyes that we DON’T expect. (Break ups, or….people close to us passing away.)
