The weekly sermon from Alfred Almond Bible Church in Almond, NY
Join us in our new series Kingdoms Come and Kingdoms Go, as we journey through the book of Daniel together. Daniel was in a time that was politically charged. Listen as the Word gives us clear direction in how we can keep our faith in this season.
As we begin our study in the book of Daniel, I have had the opportunity to spend time pre-reading through the book and thinking about the man, Daniel; he’s an amazing guy! Humble, gentle, courageous, stable. He is uprooted from family and neighborhood and culture and thrust into a new life of servitude in a Godless nation, Babylon. How potentially traumatizing to a teenager! But instead of seeing bitterness, anger, depression, or indulgence, we see a young man who prospers in a remarkable way, helping to lead an empire without compromise of Godly conviction. In fact, Daniel wins the respect of four kings he serves under! Maybe Daniel’s influence is even behind the pilgrimage of the Magi coming from the East and following the Star of Bethlehem! How did Daniel beat the odds? How did he thrive when others would have shriveled? Think about the difference between “conviction” and “opinion”. Is there a difference? What is it? Are you a person of conviction or just opinion? How does this relate to Daniel 1? Listen in and see!

Hundreds of years before Jesus, the Jewish people were exiled into an unfamiliar land and placed under foreign rule. Out of hopelessness and despair, God used Daniel to remind them, and now us, to place our identity in God alone who reigns over and in every kingdom. Do not fear, but be courageous and live out the wisdom of Christ who is your solid rock.
Do you feel that God is presence in your daily life during times of trials or joy.? In this message we hear how God is with Daniel, his 3 friends and the people of Israel during their time of captivity in Babylon. We see how God gives the wisdom, knowledge and understanding to Daniel and his friends to deal with and rescue them from the situations they faced.

It is our joy to have Brian Eichelberger back with us again for two Sundays as well as our men's retreat. This is the first of six lessons Brian will share with us from the book of Daniel
And the king spoke with them, and among all of them none was found like Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah. Therefore they stood before the king. Daniel 1:19 1. Recognize what is influencing us 2.Draw the line 3. Be great workers

How do you respond when 2 kingdoms collide? Winning the kingdom collision takes resolve. resolve that you are a citizen of heaven, resolve that you will do things Gods way. Gods way chooses faith over fear(Daniel 1:8-14). Gods way produces better results(vs 15-16). Gods way releases the supernatural(vs 17-21). When the kingdom collision happens in your life what side do you end up on?
How did Daniel come into the favor of those over him? Adding the "ingredients" God's Word tells us to have in our lives will lead to having more favor than praying for it, but the wrong ingredients will do the opposite. Let's see what these are!

How do you handle pressure? We all have different ways to handle the pressure around us. In this sermon we take a look at how one young man handled pressure from the culture he was a part of. We look at his life to understand how we too can withstand the negative pressure around us.

Daniel 1:1-21 Book of Daniel Pastor Phil Ballmaier 3-15-17 Daniel was one of the Hebrew teenagers taken captive by the Babylonians and brought to Babylon in the first deportation which occurred in 606 BC. Daniel was deeply committed to his God, the God of Israel, and purposed that he would live for and honor God in Babylon even as he had done in Jerusalem. Because of Daniel’s faith and commitment to God, the LORD used him in incredible ways and he became a high ranking official in both the Babylonian and Medo-Persian empires. His life personifies the adage, “Blossom wherever God plants you.” Daniel was a man who purposed in his heart (1:8) that he would not defile himself with the pleasures of Babylon (the world) but would remain faithful to his God no matter what. The Book of Daniel is not only a book of history, it is also one of the most incredible books of prophecy in the Bible. As we read and study this book may we accept the challenge the Holy Spirit has placed in it for all of us who are the people of God—“Dare to be a Daniel!” For more information visit our website at: www.ccelkgrove.org We can be contacted at 1.847.895.3545

As a young teen, Daniel was forced to begin a new life in a foreign land. Yet somehow, he thrived. The battles Daniel faced are still the battles we face today. Today’s message will explore the battle for our identity.
When things unexpected things happen to us in life we may ask the question, "Why?" As much as we may want to know why it does not provide as much comfort or assurance as the question of "How?" Join us as we look at the story of the Babylonian captivity in the book of Daniel as well as the Reformation to see how confidence in God's Word as the rule and guide for all things in life can give us peace in the midst of uncertainty and assurance that God is still in control and sovereign over all things!

"God will inevitably appear to disappoint the man who is attempting to use him as a convenience, a prop, or a comfort for his own plans. God has never been known to disappoint the man who is sincerely wanting to cooperate with his own purposes" J.B. Phillips
When we have clarity on our identity it helps us not to yield to compromise. Everyday we are in situations that challenge us to compromise. Yet, if we are going to live an un-compromised life before God we need to determine where we are going to draw the line, demonstrate integrity, depend on God, and remain disciplined!
