That’s what happens to Enzo Cerusico’s hapless Fabio Santamaria in 1973’s comically titled NO, THE CASE IS HAPPILY RESOLVED where Fabio’s attempts to not get involved in the criminal justice system lands him in a heap of trouble, while the actual murderer (a school professor played by Riccardo Cucciolla) is treated like a hero by the cops. It’s a dire look at class differences, the criminal justice system and making a lot of BAD decisions when you think someone is looking for you. At least, until a terrible, tacked-on ending (which we discuss!). To live with courage and conviction begins long before we are tested. It begins with a heartfelt resolve to know God's word and do it, no matter what. In short, faithfulness is decided before it is tested. Daniel 1.

Some parenting stories don't resolve neatly. Relationships remain strained. Questions remain unanswered. And the waiting can feel exhausting. In Episode 5 of the Still Faithful series, we talk about what faithfulness looks like when nothing is resolved — when there is no closure, no clear outcome, and no timeline for change. This episode invites parents to consider how to live fully, love well, and stay faithful even when the story is still unfinished. In this episode, we talk about: The emotional weight of unresolved parenting seasons Why faithfulness is not waiting for resolution before living How to hold hope without demanding outcomes Allowing joy and grief to exist together Moving forward while trusting God with what remains unanswered Reflection questions: Where am I waiting for resolution before allowing myself to live fully? What might it look like to move forward faithfully, even while something remains unfinished? How can I hold hope without attaching it to a specific outcome? A closing encouragement: Faithfulness does not require closure. It requires presence. If you would like more information on the coaching Melinda offers, send an email to: melinda@melindapatrickorg

In a world that constantly pressures us to compromise, how do we remain faithful to Jesus? In Living With Conviction, we discover that worship is more than singing; it's allegiance. Using Daniel 3, we see how conviction is the key to continuing to worship Jesus in a “bow down” culture. Learn how settled obedience, trust in God's power, and confidence in His presence enable us to stand firm; even when the fire is hot.
Waiting is hard. Whether it's something small like waiting for our food to arrive, or something significant like waiting for our health to improve—no one likes to wait. But what if God was at work in our waiting? What if delays are never wasted? The Bible talks a lot about waiting, and says that it is actually a place in which we can find strength. How can that be? Join us this Sunday as we continue in our series A Biblical Guide to New Year's Resolutions.
"Blessed is the man that trusteth in the Lord, and whose hope the Lord is. Sermons Archive RSS 1 Corinthians 2 And I, brethren, when I came to you, did not come with excellence of speech or of wisdom declaring to you the [a]testimony of God. 2 For I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified. 3 I was with you in weakness, in fear, and in much trembling. 4 And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of [b]human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, 5 that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.6 However, we speak wisdom among those who are mature, yet not the wisdom of this age, nor of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing. 7 But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God [c]ordained before the ages for our glory, 8 which none of the rulers of this age knew; for had they known, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.9 But as it is written:“Eye has not seen, nor ear heard,Nor have entered into the heart of manThe things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”10 But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God. 11 For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God. 12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God.13 These things we also speak, not in words which man's wisdom teaches but which the [d]Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual. 14 But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. 15 But he who is spiritual judges all things, yet he himself is rightly judged by no one. 16 For “who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct Him?” But we have the mind of Christ.
Jesus warns against practicing righteousness to be seen and calls his people to a quiet, genuine obedience that seeks the Father's reward rather than human approval. As he exposes the false treasures that compete for our hearts, he reorients us to seek first God's kingdom and trust him for daily provision. In Christ, we are a new creation—so as you examine your heart approaching a new year, turn from performance and pursue sincere devotion that pleases the God who sees in secret.

A brief devotion in preparation for a season of thanksgiving, considering Habakkuk's resolution to rejoice in the face of the loss not just of the mere delights of life but the very supports of life. However, when all is gone, God is not, and God is still good. Habakkuk therefore, facing the worst of all possible futures in this world, looks up to the God of salvation and resolves to rejoice and so bring glory to God whatsoever comes to pass.
