Sermons Archive RSS 1 Corinthians 2 And I, brethren, when I came to you, did not come with excellence of speech or of wisdom declaring to you the [a]testimony of God. 2 For I determined not to know anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified. 3 I was with you in weakness, in fear, and in much trembling. 4 And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of [b]human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, 5 that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God.6 However, we speak wisdom among those who are mature, yet not the wisdom of this age, nor of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing. 7 But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, the hidden wisdom which God [c]ordained before the ages for our glory, 8 which none of the rulers of this age knew; for had they known, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.9 But as it is written:“Eye has not seen, nor ear heard,Nor have entered into the heart of manThe things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”10 But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God. 11 For what man knows the things of a man except the spirit of the man which is in him? Even so no one knows the things of God except the Spirit of God. 12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God.13 These things we also speak, not in words which man's wisdom teaches but which the [d]Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual. 14 But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. 15 But he who is spiritual judges all things, yet he himself is rightly judged by no one. 16 For “who has known the mind of the Lord that he may instruct Him?” But we have the mind of Christ.
Jesus warns against practicing righteousness to be seen and calls his people to a quiet, genuine obedience that seeks the Father's reward rather than human approval. As he exposes the false treasures that compete for our hearts, he reorients us to seek first God's kingdom and trust him for daily provision. In Christ, we are a new creation—so as you examine your heart approaching a new year, turn from performance and pursue sincere devotion that pleases the God who sees in secret.

A brief devotion in preparation for a season of thanksgiving, considering Habakkuk's resolution to rejoice in the face of the loss not just of the mere delights of life but the very supports of life. However, when all is gone, God is not, and God is still good. Habakkuk therefore, facing the worst of all possible futures in this world, looks up to the God of salvation and resolves to rejoice and so bring glory to God whatsoever comes to pass.
Dr. Don Immel delivers a message and challenges believers to move beyond simply growing older in faith to intentionally growing up spiritually, as God's design in Ephesians 4 is maturity, unity, and Christlikeness. Paul teaches that God provides spiritual leadership to equip, strengthen, and unify the church so believers are no longer immature, easily deceived, or spiritually weak. True growth is measured by an increasing knowledge of Jesus and a life that reflects His character through love, truth, righteousness, and the fruit of the Spirit. As a new year begins, the call is to deliberately pursue spiritual growth—personally and corporately—so the church grows strong in faith rather than stagnating or falling backward.
Kevin Biro | Sun PM Dec 28th, 2025 | Resolved to Love
This sermon centers on the urgent call to examine one's spiritual condition and resolve to live faithfully for the Lord in the coming year, emphasizing that eternity is imminent and preparation is essential. Drawing from key passages such as Hebrews 9:27, John 5:24–29, and the covenantal promise 'I will be their God and they shall be my people,' it underscores the mutual, intimate relationship between God and His people, rooted in divine initiative and requiring personal response. The preacher challenges listeners to assess their spiritual state through self-examination, identifying whether the issue is unregenerate life or spiritual stagnation, and calls for radical, intentional discipleship marked by daily Scripture engagement, consistent prayer, family worship, church involvement, and the elimination of distractions. Ultimately, the message is a pastoral, convicting summons to embrace a transformed life characterized by obedience, love for God and others, and a heart fully devoted to Christ, ensuring that believers are not only saved but growing in grace and readiness for His return.

We review BRUEs (Brief Resolved Unexplained Events). Hosts: Ellen Duncan, MD, PhD Noumi Chowdhury, MD https://media.blubrry.com/coreem/content.blubrry.com/coreem/BRUE.mp3 Download Leave a Comment Tags: Pediatrics Show Notes What is a BRUE? BRUE stands for Brief Resolved Unexplained Event. It typically affects infants 60 days old Gestational Age: GA > 32 weeks (and Post-Conceptional Age > 45 weeks) Frequency: This is the first episode Duration: Lasted < 1 minute Intervention: No CPR performed by a trained professional Clinical Picture: Reassuring history and physical exam Management for Low Risk: Generally do not require extensive testing or admission. Prioritize safety education/anticipatory guidance. Ensure strict return precautions and close outpatient follow-up (within 24 hours). High Risk Criteria Any infant not meeting the low-risk criteria is automatically High Risk. Additional red flags include: Suspicion of child abuse History of toxin exposure Family history of sudden cardiac death Abnormal physical exam findings (trauma, neuro deficits) Management for High Risk: Requires a more thorough evaluation. Often requires hospital admission. Note: Serious underlying conditions are identified in approx. 4% of high-risk infants. Differential Diagnosis: “THE MISFITS” Mnemonic T – Trauma (Accidental or Non-accidental/Abuse) H – Heart (Congenital heart disease, dysrhythmias) E – Endocrine M – Metabolic (Inborn errors of metabolism) I – Infection (Sepsis, meningitis, pertussis, RSV) S – Seizures F – Formula (Reflux, allergy, aspiration) I – Intestinal Catastrophes (Volvulus, intussusception) T – Toxins (Medications, home exposures) S – Sepsis (Systemic infection) Workup & Diagnostics Step 1: Stabilization ABCs (Airway, Breathing, Circulation) Point-of-care Glucose Cardiorespiratory monitoring Step 2: Diagnostic Testing (For High Risk/Symptomatic Patients) Labs: VBG, CBC, Electrolytes. Imaging: CXR: Evaluate for infection and cardiothymic silhouette. EKG: Evaluate for QT prolongation or dysrhythmias. Neuro: Consider Head CT/MRI and EEG if there are concerns for trauma or seizures. Clinical Pearl: Only ~6% of diagnostic tests contribute meaningfully to the diagnosis. Be judicious—avoid “shotgunning” tests in low-risk patients. Prognosis & Outcomes Recurrence: Approximately 10% (lower than historical ALTE rates of 10-25%). Mortality: < 1%. Nearly always linked to an identifiable cause (abuse, metabolic disorder, severe infection). BRUE vs. SIDS: These are not the same. BRUE: Peaks < 2 months; occurs mostly during the day. SIDS: Peaks 2–4 months; occurs mostly midnight to 6:00 AM. Take-Home Points Diagnosis of Exclusion: You cannot call it a BRUE until you have ruled out obvious causes via history and physical. Strict Criteria: Stick strictly to the Low Risk criteria guidelines. If they miss even one (e.g., age < 60 days), they are High Risk. Education: For low-risk families, the most valuable intervention is reassurance, education, and arranging close follow-up. Systematic Approach: For high-risk infants, use a structured approach (like THE MISFITS) to ensure you don’t miss rare but reversible causes. Read More
Tough issues have yet to be resolved following U.S.–Ukrainian talks in Florida, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Monday, as he and other Ukrainian officials toured Europe to rally their allies. He's accused of killing UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson a year ago. His attorneys are seeking to have evidence thrown out of court, including a notebook and a nine-millimeter handgun that prosecutors say matches the one used in the killing. The prosecution says the notebook contains passages describing Mangione's intent to “wack” a health insurance executive. His lawyers argue that investigators seized the items illegally from the 27-year-old's backpack without a warrant.

Last month, a tragic incident took place in Jharkhand. Five children with thalassemia, an inherited blood disorder contracted HIV, following a blood transfusion. Initial investigations revealed that the blood they were given, was contaminated. While the Jharkhand government swung into action, suspending officials and announcing compensations – the fact remains that the blood that the children were given from a blood bank was unsafe. Blood is a critical compound – it is used across thousands of hospitals every day and there are regulations in place with regard to testing protocols to ensure that infected blood is not given to any patient. So where did the lapses occur? What kind of testing mechanisms do we have in place and are they sufficient? What is the ‘window period' when it comes to infections and how can this be shortened? And how do we ensure safe blood for every patient in need? 7. The Iconic Earthrise Photo and the Genesis Reading Broadcast. Bob Zimmerman discusses how while orbiting the moon, the crew captured the now-iconic "Earthrise" photographs. A dispute over who took the famous color picture was resolved by transcript analysis: Frank Borman quickly took a black-and-white image, and Bill Anders subsequently captured the celebrated color image after scrambling to change the film. For their Christmas Eve television broadcast, Frank Borman sought guidance for a message that would match the "majesty and the significance" of the moment, as NASA's public relations chief refused to dictate the content. Borman's friend, Joe Leighton, struggled to find suitable, non-sectarian text. Leighton's wife suggested starting at the beginning of the Old Testament. Leighton realized the opening verses of Genesis were perfect, as they were fundamental to the world's major religions and fit the theme of beginning a new era of exploration. Anders, Lovell, and Borman read the verses, surprising the world, concluding with Borman wishing "God bless all of you, all of you on the good Earth." 1790 GREEENWICH
