It's easy to take God's gifts for granted and complain that we don't have more, but God's gifts are always gives us much more than enough

In this sermon we are reminded of God's great generosity. Whether you've been a Christian for a long time or short while, Jesus gives us a parable in Matthew 20 that fully demonstrates this aspect of God's character.

In today’s passage we see the sovereign right of God to show mercy on full display. What’s more, we learn that the orientation of our own heart will dictate whether we find God’s graciousness to be beautiful or odious. Join us as we explore this passage!

One of the most profound traits of the grace of God will likely shock you! We learn of it in many places in the Bible, but this Sunday we see it in the parable of the Workers in the Vineyard. There are lessons here that will greatly impact our faith walk, and how we believe in and for what God has promised us. We also look at expectations and attitudes seeing how all these affect our faith. In the end we will understand what may be a shocking conclusion to this parable, and one that will profoundly help your Christian walk become all that you hoped it would be.

My friends, the only way we will survive this fall in our country, our city, our church is if, over the next several months, we strive to see that we are part of a community and strive to see – and even celebrate – the blessing of God as it is bestowed in the lives of other people, many of whom we have not heretofore considered as worthy as we are. Rev. Larry Hayward preaches on the Twenty-fifth Sunday in Ordinary Time. The Scripture lesson is Matthew 20:1-16.
Grace in the kingdom
We all like things to be fair, especially when we feel like we have missed out on something good. God’s kingdom operates on a whole different level - it is the kingdom of grace. It is a place where no one gets less than they deserve and many people receive far more.

The Laborers in the Vineyard
Central UMC, Florence SC
In this parable, Jesus speaks of labor and reward, illustrating the graciousness of God towards the covenant people. In a narrative that challenges today's views of distributive justice, Jesus shows how the grace of God is without end and points us to a future in which we extend grace without limit.
