We explore why the body's wisdom consistently points us toward simplicity, how assessment precision creates clarity instead of overwhelm, and why confidence grows when you trust what the body is already telling you.In this episode, you'll learn:Why assessment should create freedom, not complexity, in clinical decision-makingHow better specificity makes treatment lighter, faster, and more effectiveWhat happens when you stop chasing tools and start trusting the body's directionHow a whole-organism assessment changes both outcomes and clinician confidenceThis episode is a reminder that you don't need to do more to get better results — you need to listen better and let assessment lead the way.Resources & Links Mentioned In This Episode:Episode 42: The Fundamental Attribution Error and Why You May be the Problem, Not Your ClientEpisode 119: Guaranteeing Results... Why chase fame when you can build a 7-figure empire from your garage? Zach even shreds live on his custom Ernie Ball, proving talent meets strategy.   From flipping $100 ad spend into full-time freedom to expanding during Covid to 250 students, Zach exposes the blueprint: reinvest ruthlessly, pay teachers well, and dominate underserved suburban markets. Action takeaways: leverage convenience over competition, charge premium to avoid burnout, and scale multiple locations. Music isn't just notes—it's a scalable empire.    Whether you're a musician, entrepreneur, or just hate leaving money on the table—this conversation is your wake-up call to build real wealth in an overlooked industry.

Home Equity: The Most Overlooked Asset in Retirement Planning with Harlan Accola

Many retirees today feel squeezed. Rising costs, fixed incomes, and market uncertainty can make the retirement years feel more fragile than expected. Yet for many households, one of their largest assets—their home—often sits unused in their financial plan. For years, reverse mortgages carried a mixed reputation. But significant reforms over the last decade have reshaped the program, making today's options safer, more flexible, and better aligned with thoughtful retirement planning. Today, we are joined by Harlan Accola, National Reverse Mortgage Director with Movement Mortgage, to explore how home equity can play a more intentional role in retirement. Why Home Equity Is Often OverlookedFor many retirees, their home represents their single largest asset. Yet it's frequently absent from retirement conversations. One reason is perception. Outdated assumptions and negative press have long hampered reverse mortgages. Another reason is structural: many financial advisors simply aren't trained—or compensated—to incorporate home equity into retirement planning. As a result, planning conversations often focus on investments, Social Security, pensions, and insurance, while equity is quietly ignored. That oversight can create strain. When too much wealth is locked inside a home, retirees may feel cash-poor even while sitting on significant net worth—especially if they're still making monthly mortgage payments.Much of what people fear about reverse mortgages no longer applies. Major legislative reforms roughly a decade ago addressed earlier concerns and strengthened consumer protections. Today's reverse mortgage programs are federally regulated and far more transparent. In fact, recent industry surveys—including data from J.D. Power—show that more than 90% of reverse mortgage borrowers report being satisfied with their experience. As more people hear positive stories from neighbors and friends, perceptions continue to shift.Key Benefits of Today's Reverse MortgagesThe most immediate benefit for many retirees is simple: eliminating a monthly mortgage payment. I've spoken with retirees who are using a significant portion of their Social Security income just to cover housing costs. Removing that payment can dramatically improve monthly cash flow—even for those who technically “can afford” the payment.Another powerful benefit is preparation. Long-term care remains one of the largest unfunded risks in retirement. For homeowners who have already paid off their house, a reverse mortgage can establish a guaranteed line of credit before it's needed. Think of it as getting an umbrella before it starts raining—access to funds that can be used later if health care needs arise or unexpected expenses surface.A Third Bucket in Retirement PlanningTraditionally, retirees think in terms of two buckets: income and investments. But home equity can function as a third. The early years of retirement are often the most critical. Drawing too quickly from investments doesn't just reduce the balance—it also eliminates years of future growth. By using home equity strategically, retirees may be able to reduce pressure on their investment portfolio, delay Social Security, and extend the longevity of their overall plan.In many cases, this isn't about necessity—it's about stewardship. Rather than leaving a major asset idle or waiting until it must be accessed in distress, home equity can be used intentionally to support stability, flexibility, and peace of mind.Reverse mortgages aren't for everyone, and they should always be evaluated carefully within a broader financial plan. But for those in the later seasons of life—especially homeowners still making payments or struggling to meet monthly expenses—they can be a valuable option. When used wisely, home equity isn't about giving something up. It's about stewarding what God has already entrusted to you, so your resources serve you well throughout retirement. To learn more, visit Movement.com/Faith.On Today's Program, Rob Answers Listener Questions:I own a small business with about 10 employees, and I'm looking to set up a 401(k). Many people with migraines are told their symptoms are purely neurological and must be managed long-term with medication. In this episode, Dr. Taves explains why that model often leaves patients trapped in a cycle of trial-and-error prescriptions without clear answers. He shares the clinical pattern that changed his entire perspective: again and again, patients formally diagnosed with migraines experienced real improvement when restrictions in the upper cervical spine were identified and treated through specialized physical therapy.Dr. Taves breaks down how the upper neck (from the base of the skull through about C3) can refer pain into the head and face and create symptoms that look exactly like classic migraine. He explains why standard imaging and routine medical exams frequently miss these issues — because they don't test true upper-cervical function or motion. You'll learn why migraines often “start in the neck,” how to think about root cause versus symptom management, and why restoring normal joint movement in the upper cervical spine can be a reliable, medication-free path toward lasting relief for many headache and migraine sufferers.Novera: Headache Center

On Tuesday's Mark Levin Show, there are many men and women who were crucial in America's founding whose names you probably never heard of before. Have you heard of William Samuel Johnson, Richard Bassett, or Jacob Broom? Did you know the Constitutional Convention was attended by 55 or 70 appointed delegates and only 39 of 55 signed the Constitution. Why? Some disagreed and thought it gave too much power to the central government. There are a lot of tremendous patriots, like Haym Salomon, who get no mention and they gave up everything for America. This is why Americans get angry when certain podcaster trash America or promote Middle East monarchies. Also, the FBI director signed two memoranda of understanding for sharing training and intelligence, providing Qatar with sophisticated U.S. military equipment and a facility on an Idaho air base—unprecedented for such a nation. Some will say ‘other countries have this with America' but not a country that was involved in 9/11 and October 7th. Later, the Democrats and their media think they've found a word and an issue in affordability. The Trump economy is already strong and certainly compared to the Biden disaster the president inherited. He has already driven inflation way down. Middle class incomes are up. Gasoline prices have dropped significantly. His entire focus has been on peace and prosperity -- that is, peace abroad and prosperity at home. If the Democrats want to campaign on affordability, bring it on. The bigger problem may well be the Woke Reich, who have made clear their intention to sabotage the GOP. If we lose the midterms, it will undoubtedly be due in significant part to them. Finally, we go live to Trump's speech in Mount Pocono, Pennsylvania. Learn more about your ad choices. In this episode, I really enjoyed picking the brains of Niki Hutchison, a marketing strategist who is passionate about online businesses marketing themselves like pros. We discuss moving away from amateur ways of doing things to ensure you are marketing like a professional. Even though I am not a trained marketer myself, I have loved learning about it over the last decade of running my business. Niki and I delve into many interesting areas, including demystifying what a 'strategy' actually is, the importance of a multi-channel approach, and the massive impact public speaking can have on your business growth.   Key Takeaways: Marketing strategy doesn't have to be complicated: Niki explains that strategy is often over-complicated, but it is simply about starting with your business objective and deciding how to use different channels to achieve it. Don't rely on a single channel: One of the biggest mistakes small businesses make is relying on just one platform; instead, you should leverage your own channels (like your email list) alongside partnerships and other people's audiences. The power of in-person connection: Niki shares that speaking on stages and building real-life connections is currently the most effective way she is growing her audience and establishing trust quickly. Consistency creates trust: A major issue is 'ghosting' your marketing; disappearing and reappearing makes it difficult to establish trust with your audience, so it is vital to find a sustainable rhythm. From Overlooked to Fully Booked: Being 'fully booked' isn't about having zero white space in your diary; it's that confident feeling that you are winning at business, clients are coming in, and momentum is building.   Episode Highlights: 02:59 – Niki demystifies the word "strategy" and explains why it is actually quite simple. 07:59 – The danger of relying on just one social media channel and the importance of partnerships. 12:54 – Why in-person speaking and events are Niki's most exciting marketing tool right now. 20:19 – How to build reciprocal partnerships to help spread the word about your launches. 34:23 – Niki's top tips for creating a marketing plan that fits into your actual life without leading to burnout.   About The Guest: Niki Hutchison is a marketing strategist who helps business owners and brands take a multi-channel marketing approach to market like a pro. She runs two businesses: her personal brand teaching business owners how to market and grow, and an agency specialising in launching for organisations. You can find Niki on Instagram @nikihutchinson, where she basically lives in her DMs, or connect with her on LinkedIn. You can also find out about her in-person events at her website.   Mentioned in this episode: Adventures in Marketing: The event Niki hosts in Edinburgh with her friend Abby. Enterprise Nation: Niki is an advisor and trainer for this platform. Adobe Express Scheduler: The tool Niki uses to schedule her content. Habit Share: An app Niki uses to keep on track with her tasks.   I would love to hear what you think of this episode, so please do let me know on Instagram where I'm @‌lizmmosley or @‌buildingyourbrandpodcast and I hope you enjoy the episode! Minerals like copper, zinc, iron, manganese, chromium, selenium and boron act as cofactors for hormones, thyroid and blood sugar, and they can make or break energy, mood and cycles even when the basics look ok. On paper, a lot of women are told everything looks “normal” while their bodies are clearly not ok. I get into what it feels like when minerals are out of balance, from emotional spikes and wired-tired nights to heavy, painful cycles and those nagging aches that never quite go away. Today, I'm thrilled to welcome Fritz Gilbert back for his second appearance on the podcast. Fritz is an award-winning blogger and author of The Retirement Manifesto, one of the most influential retirement blogs in the country. He has now been retired for six years, and while many people think the big transition ends the day you leave the workforce, Fritz's journey proves that retirement continues to evolve in meaningful, surprising, and deeply personal ways. Recently, he announced he is stepping away from full-time blogging to spend more of his life "outside the walls," shifting his time toward family, exercise, charitable work, and the flexibility that first drew him to retirement. Fritz explains why stepping back wasn't a loss—it was a necessary reshuffling of cards in the ongoing "game of retirement poker."  In our conversation, Fritz discusses the surprising emotional journey of redefining retirement. He explains why he has never struggled with boredom, depression, or identity loss, and highlights how he avoided the most difficult retirement phase that nearly 70% face. We also talk about one of the most overlooked elements of retirement satisfaction: giving yourself permission to spend your money—or gift to your kids—while you can enjoy the benefits, rather than clinging to your savings out of habit or fear. Fritz explains why intentional spending is not only rational but also often essential for living a fully realized, purposeful retirement. In this podcast interview, you'll learn: How Fritz avoided boredom, identity loss, and the infamous "retirement dip." The surprising emotional transition his wife experienced after caregiving. Why replacing the non-financial benefits of work is a must. How to refine a bucket strategy and reduce interest-rate risk in retirement. The real challenge of Roth conversions and why liquidity matters. Why many retirees spend too little and how Fritz overcame that fear. How to support adult children without jeopardizing their independence. Why the 90/10 rule becomes unavoidable in retirement. Show Notes: HowardBailey.com/537

See also: elf: Advent of Code CLI helper for Python Michael #2: Django 6 is coming Expected December 2025 Django 6.0 supports Python 3.12, 3.13, and 3.14 Built-in support for the Content Security Policy (CSP) standard is now available, making it easier to protect web applications against content injection attacks such as cross-site scripting (XSS). The Django Template Language now supports template partials, making it easier to encapsulate and reuse small named fragments within a template file. Django now includes a built-in Tasks framework for running code outside the HTTP request–response cycle. This enables offloading work, such as sending emails or processing data, to background workers. Email handling in Django now uses Python's modern email API, introduced in Python 3.6. This API, centered around the email.message.EmailMessage class Brian #3: Advanced, Overlooked Python Typing get_args, TypeGuard, TypeIs, and more goodies Michael #4: codespell Learned from this PR for the Talk Python book. Fix common misspellings in text files. It's designed primarily for checking misspelled words in source code (backslash escapes are skipped), but it can be used with other files as well. It does not check for word membership in a complete dictionary, but instead looks for a set of common misspellings. Therefore it should catch errors like "adn", but it will not catch "adnasdfasdf". It shouldn't generate false-positives when you use a niche term it doesn't know about. Extras Brian: Is mkdocs maintained? Hatch 1.16 Michael: Follow up on tach from Gerben Dekker: tach has been unmaintained for a bit but is not anymore. It was the main product from Gauge which is a Y combinator startup that pivoted to something unrelated and abandoned tach. However, https://github.com/DetachHead forked it but now got access to the main repo and has committed to maintaining it. ruff analyze graph is fully independent of tach - we actually started to look into alternatives for tach when it became unmaintained and then found ruff analyze graph. For our use case, with just a bit of manipulation on top of ruff analyze graph we replaced our use of deptry (which was slower - and I try to be careful depending on one-man projects). Are Your Memories Lying to You? Neuroscientist Dr. Nikolay Kukushkin—NYU clinical associate professor, research fellow, and author of One Hand Clapping—joins Mayim Bialik's Breakdown to BREAK OPEN everything we thought we knew about memory, consciousness, evolution, and the future of humanity. Dr. Kukushkin might be the first to scientifically prove that “the body keeps the score," and he's here to share his groundbreaking research revealing that every cell in the body may have the potential to store memory. What this means for trauma, healing, and everyday life will blow your mind! We explore how human memory evolved, why we remember the way we do, and the hidden purpose memory plays in meaning-making, identity, and human experience. You'll learn how memory is stored, changed, and distorted, why memory is NOT reality, what makes the human experience truly special, and what sea slugs can teach us about being human. We also discuss whether it's more accurate (or useful) to view reality through a materialist vs spiritual lens, how natural selection is far more creative and intelligent than we ever imagined, and whether Artificial Intelligence is humanity's evolutionary path. Dr. Kukushkin reveals what we've been getting wrong about dopamine: its real evolutionary purpose, how to harness this new science to boost motivation, productivity, and well-being, and why social media “dopamine hits” are so addictive - and so damaging. Dr. Kukushkin also breaks down: - Overlooked implications of being a carbon-based species - Sinister effects of sleep deprivation - Can the human brain ever reach its memory capacity? - What happens when we're downloading too much information from our environment - What happens when we outsource our language abilities to technology? - What are the consequences of forming human-like emotional connections with chatbots? - Is there hope that we will return to using our brain's full cognitive power? PLUS...the spiritual experiences technology can never replicate, and why real life will always give us what machines can't! If you care about human potential, the future of consciousness, or understanding the truth about your own mind, this is the episode of MBB you CANNOT miss.
