Liberty Weekly - Libertarian, Ancap, & Voluntaryist Legal Theory from a Rothbardian Perspective

In this episode, I welcome any new listeners and go back to basics by teaching everyone how I read a SCOTUS opinion. For demonstration purposes, I use Castle Rock v. Gonzales (2005), a case that I've worked with in several episodes of the podcast.  In this summer special of the Liberty Weekly Podcast, I team up with Robert and Daniel from the Actual Anarchy Podcast for an in-depth discussion and analysis of "Wild, Wild Country." "Wild, Wild Country" is a hit Netflix docuseries which tells the story of Indian guru Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh--a man whose followers attempted to create a commune in the high deserts of Oregon. In doing so, they came at odds with the local townspeople . . . and eventually the US Government. In episode II of our analysis, I am replaced by guest host Trey Weaver of the Subversion Webcast.  The boys talk about the internal workings of the Bhagwan community and how the feud between the Rashneeshies and the townspeople kicks off. After a week of being sick and having 2 episodes ruined due to technical difficulties, my good friend Trey Weaver of the Subversion Webcast jumps on to interview me about my law school paper: "Vacating the State: Free Market Alternatives to Domestic Violence Policy." I realized only after recording this episode that my audio went through my webcam mic and not my real microphone. So that's three episodes this week affected by technical difficulties. At least this one didn't ruin the episode. Apologies! Subscribe to the Subversion Webcast! Check out the Agora Symposium! Actual Anarchy Podcast - AnCap Movie Reviews from a Rothbardian Perspective

We discuss yet another Christmas classic from the 80's, Trading Places, starring Eddie Murphy and Dan Aykroyd in a modern-day (progressive) interpretation of the Prince and the Pauper. We are joined by Trey Weaver of the Subversion Webcast (the newest member of the Libertarian Union, and all around good guy) to discuss this nature vs. nurture, social engineering, comedy that has perhaps even more relevance today than it did in 1983. Show notes: www.actualanarchy.com/55 Presented by www.ActualAnarchy.com Robert and I analyze popular movies from a Rothbardian/AnarchoCapitalist perspective. We use movies as a starting point for people who may not be familiar with this way of thinking.   Discussion of the plot and decisions that characters make in relation to morality and violations of the non-aggression principle are our bread and butter. We also will highlight and discuss any themes or lessons from Austrian Economics that we can glean from the film. The point is to show what anarchy actually is with instances that are presented in film. We publish at least once per week; and occasionally will do specials surrounding holidays or events (elections/olympics) and have guests. SUBSCRIBE, RATE AND REVIEW ON APPLE PODCASTS (or iTUNES)

On today’s episode, I had the pleasure of chatting with Trey Weaver about everything from libertarianism to conspiracies and even a little bit of religion.Trey hosts his own podcast called Subversion where he interviews musicians about life, death, and art. It’s a fantastic show and I’ll post a link in the show notes at tsidpod.com, so be sure to check that out. But, as much as I love music, it’s just not an uncomfortable enough topic for this show and uncomfortable is what we’re here to do. So with that said, don’t sit back, don’t relax, and let’s get weird.Question Everything.
