Vamos descobrir juntos.
Davie Portman celebrates a decade since his favourite TV show, Lost aired its finale by reviewing the episode that kicked it all off: Pilot Part 1 & 2. Davie is joined by friends of the show Kevin Hudson (from Geekcentric), David Sykes and MJ From NJ to chat all about one of the most groundbreaking pieces of TV in history. They remain spoiler free as they talk all about plane crashes, monsters, polar bears, French distress calls, heroin, flashbacks and more! Davie is then joined by "Lost Virgin" Chris Price to see what his initial reactions of the show were, what theories he has and whether he will continue the journey. The lads then talk about how well they think the show holds up today, some spoilers, take your feedback and more! Over the next two weeks Davie will be continuing his Flashback Reviews on Lost over at the upNXT Patreon. These shows will be available for all tiers! Some of the most groundbreaking queer moments on television happened on a show that if you're American, you've probably never heard of. Number 96 is one of the most popular TV shows in Australia's history, but it never managed to successfully make the jump to the US — maybe because its content, in the mid 1970s, was way too risqué for American audiences. My guest this week is a scholar of Australian TV. Ever since he was a kid, Andrew Mercado was devoted to Aussie soap operas, and as an adult he seized a once-in-a-lifetime chance to work on them… and to inject a little more queerness into what was already surprisingly queer medium. We'll have that conversation in a minute. First, a reminder that The Sewers of Paris is on Twitter and Facebook — I post clips of the stuff that we talk about on each episode. And big thanks to everyone who makes the Sewers of Paris possible with a pledge of support on Patreon! Click “support the show on Patreon” to check out the rewards for backers. And I hope you'll join me for our next fun friendly livestream on April 18 at 11am Pacific.I've been trying something new with the livestreams: rather than just sitting there and talking, I play some nice relaxing videogames while we all chat about what we've been up to. It's been a really soothing way to kick back and hang out and get away from the daily stress of, you know, everything. There's a link at the top of the Sewers of Paris twitter feed. And by the way, if you like nerdy queer podcasts you may enjoy my narrative comedy shows Queens of Adventure and Queens of Adventure Legends! Join us for an escape into a world of fantasy, with drag queens playing Dungeons & Dragons. Queens of Adventure features an ongoing fantasy story with a regular cast, and Queens of Adventure Legends features recordings of live shows and stand-alone stories. Queens of Adventure: Legends is perfect for new listeners, with adventures sized for one or two sittings and introductions at the start of each episode. You can subscribe to both shows at QueensOfAdventure.com, or search your favorite podcast app.

Jefferson Graham argues for a la carte streaming on the latest episode of Talking Tech, in response to YouTube TV's massive price hike.
This episode is about why movies are starting to look more like television, and why television is becoming more like movies. Also, we reveal our favorite YouTubers and which predictions about the future of social media we agree with. We also talk a lot about the new Fantastic Beasts: Crimes of Grindelwald movie because it's basically impossible to talk about successful episodic storytelling or world building without mentioning the Wizarding World. • Haven't seen Twin Peaks? No worries. Here's an interesting Digg article about what order you should watch the series in. http://digg.com/2017/how-to-watch-all-of-twin-peaks • To clarify some of the things that made Lost's production more like a movie and less like TV: Lost was shot on 35mm film stock, the pilot episode alone cost over $10 million to make, and they negotiated the end date of the series 3 years in advance and then wrote the series knowing exactly how many episodes were left. Personally I feel the storytelling style itself, with the ensemble cast and how they played up the character storylines and downplayed the sci-fi for a whole season, contributes to the cinematic feel. • That awesome Edgar Wright clip was from his interview with Marc Fennel https://youtu.be/FiwthDKv8E8?t=292 • That awesome little snippet from Gary Vaynerchuck is something he talks about a lot. That particular bit was from his 2016 Inbound keynote, but you can also hear another version of it in some of his Daily Vee episodes, like this one https://youtu.be/gzOupHqh_dU?t=445 • Alice in Paris is made by another super creative duo and they're hands down our favorite YouTubers. Watch it! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qsavdcJzrxU&list=PLX98sAmndWt1gxu0UAQsfF-Ct7GaJY4RR
