Beloved Australian comedian Aaron Gocs has appeared in the Netflix film The Merger, hosted videos for Vice and appeared in numerous Australian TV shows. But his roots are punk and ska. He discovered the music from Mighty Mighty Bosstones' hit single, "The Impression That I Get," but soon learned about local ska bands. His first-ever show was Melbourne-based punk (and sometimes ska) band The Living End and local Brisbane ska group Wiseacre. But soon, after diving into the music, he discovered Less Than Jake, who became his all-time favorite band. And he would follow them all over Australia when they'd visit, even if that meant he would get any sleep. Today we speak with Aaron Gocs about ska, Australia, and where these two worlds meet. We talk about Warped Tour's first venture to Australia in 1998, Aaron's favorite local ska program (Ska Trek, every Thursday at 8p!), why he's retired his skanking boots (And semi-retired from stage-diving), and his deep love for The Mountain Goats. We also discuss several Australian ska bands like The Resignators, The Porkers, Area-7, Allniters, and Strange Tenants. He explains what a "stitch-up" is to us. Plus we discuss some unique Australian food and animals. Cane Toads, anyone? We also find out what Mr. Bean had to do with Aaron getting kicked off of Twitter! Tunes & TumblersA podcast pairing music & original craft cocktails. Tarang Chawla is an Indian born Australian writer, lawyer, activist, and host of Future Women's Podcast ‘There's No Place Like Home'. He became an activist against men's violence after the tragic murder of his sister Nikita Chawla in 2015, and has told his story on KICPOD before, speaking about the raw reality of domestic abuse and family violence. You can hear that episode here. Today, Tarang addresses an issue that is sadly still very prevalent even in 2022; racism in Australia. If talking about racism makes you feel uncomfortable, you're not alone. The reason a lot of us shy away from this topic is because although we have the best intentions, we are fearful of saying the wrong thing. Conversations like today's episode are so important to help educate us on the right questions that we need to be asking, and the right responses to have when the topic is brought up.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

In 2016, following trends in many Western countries, a majority of Australians identified as Christian 52.1%. Five years later, that was down to 43.9%. Christianity is still the most common religion in the country, but for the first time no longer in the majority. Moreover, 38.9% of people now identify themselves as having no religion - a jump of almost 10%. Megan Powell du Toit and Michael Jensen ask what this really means. And, more particularly, what should Christians do about it? The WADR team talk to Prof Ruth Powell of National Church Life Survey Research, which has been doing research into Australians and faith. Then Megan and Michael discuss what this seismic shift in faith means for the gospel, before finishing up with a look at Brides of Christ, an Australian TV mini-series which looks at another time of change for faith in the 1960s.

Born in the UK, raised on the Gold Coast and discovered on Australian TV performing Bobby Brown songs, teenager Peter Andre was snapped up by Molly Meldrum for his record label, Melodian. After a couple of years' development, which included a songwriting trip to the UK to work with Phil Harding and Ian Curnow at PWL, the diehard Michael Jackson fan released his first single in 1992. But it was his second release, a cover of "Gimme Little Sign" that turned Peter into a star — and he recalls both his reluctance to record the track and his insistence that he show off his buff body in the music video. Further ARIA chart success continued as did support slots on high-profile Australian tours by Bobby Brown and Madonna, but with it came a backlash from certain quarters. Peter reveals the impact the negativity had on him and why he relocated to the UK to work on his second album. With tracks like "Mysterious Girl" and "Flava", Natural would be the album that would see his career take off in his homeland and allow him to achieve a long-held ambition to sell out Wembley Arena. In our candid interview, Peter also discusses why he left the industry after his US R&B-influenced third album, Time, and the comeback he never expected to have in the 2000s.Bonus material at chartbeats.com.au/aussieTwitter: @ChartBeatsAU, @TurnAroundOnJoyInstagram: @chartbeatsau, @joyturnbeataroundEmail: firstname.lastname@example.org
The seed for this interview was planted all the way back in 2010 on the Channel 10 TV show The Panel in which Steve interviewed James Podsiadly as a mature AFL recruit for Geelong who had married into the Middleton family of Mount Mary fame in the Yarra Valley. Steve has great taste when it comes to drinking wine and spirits and is pretty good in the kitchen too (when time permits). For a bloke who loves and understands Italian wine, he's long overdue for a trip 'Al Bel Paese' which will be remedied early in 2023.

Chris hasn't been feeling too well this week, and decided to cheer himself up by telling us all the gruesome details of his antics on the bog. We also celebrated James' birthday this week, and the team decided to treat him to some wonderful presents that came in the form of voice notes from some very special people. And if that wasn't enough, here's more… - James' Weekend Roundup - Harry interrupts an Australian TV shoot - Chris' Ring of Fire Enjoy! The Chris Moyles Show on Radio X Weekdays 6:30-10am

DOJ'S LATE NIGHT FILING AGAINST TRUMP A-Block (1:45) SPECIAL COMMENT. I wonder if Trump has ever heard of Victor Marchetti? He will now. The Government's 1975 court victory over him defined who has to prove a Classified Document is STILL a Classified Document - and it ain't the government. The Justice Department with a killer filing in its appeal of the Special Master ruling (3:55) Even as the Special Master comes down on Trump like a ton of bricks. His insistence those are HIS documents because he declassified some of them but he can't tell you which ones or when, is attacked by Special Master Dearie (4:10) Who says "You can't have your cake and eat it too." Didn't somebody we all know use that same phrase yesterday? YES I DID. (6:03) If you think Trump's lawyers are nitwits, wait'll you hear Alina Habba not understand why it's called an OCTOBER Surprise (6:45) Trump also makes a dumb analogy about the search of his bedroom (7:40) While New York's Attorney General may be ready to move (8:00) And three of the asylum seekers DeSantis human-trafficked have filed a class action suit against him and he's reduced to using the phrase "Onesie-Twosies" (10:34) And Trump's desperate neediness leads to one of the greatest Owns in Twitter history: Greg Proops flattens Maggie Haberman for all time. B-Block (14:35) EVERY DOG HAS ITS DAY: Hooch (16:00) POSTSCRIPTS TO THE NEWS: Ron Johnson "condones" white supremacy; Bret "Mr. Journalist" Baier tried to get the Fox Arizona call retracted; Tucker Carlson may get more people hurt. (18:50) IN SPORTS: 60 homers for Judge, the passing of Maury Wills, three NHL vets retire (21:30) THE WORST PERSONS IN THE WORLD: The 1776 Restoration Movement scumbags compete with Ronna McDaniel and a ton of Fentanyl for Halloween, and the Australian TV hosts covering the Queen's funeral, for the honors. C-Block (26:45) THINGS I PROMISED NOT TO TELL: 25 years since the head of the NBC part of MSNBC told me to ignore the head of the MS part of MSNBC. Andy Lack said they "were only supposed to give us money and computer terminals! Don't tell ME that we have to 'synergize' cable television and the internet - whatever the hell the internet is!"See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Vincent Genna, MSW is known as the “tell-it-like-it-is” and “truly authentic” Spiritual Teacher and Psychic Therapist. He combines his extraordinary psychic abilities, academic credentials, and genuine all-loving approach to provide healing for body, mind, and spirit. As a Psychic Therapist, Vincent uses his more than 36 years of training, research, and experience in the Metaphysical, Psychology, and Spiritual fields to dive deep into the psyche where true transformation takes place, helping clients to examine their beliefs and leave behind whatever is blocking them from the empowerment to heal their own weaknesses, imbalance, or lack. Vincent also has an amazing capacity to explain the messages he receives in a way that not only resonates with the individual but also with an entire audience. It's a unique transference that allows everyone present to gain their own restorative powers from hearing how others are healed. Vincent has been asked to psychically communicate with animals to obtain healing messages for animals and their owners experiencing physical and emotional issues. A renowned UK television network and an Australian TV network have featured Vincent's work with animals on their popular television shows. Other interesting animal work includes communicating with a US Marine Corp war dog whose handler died in Afghanistan, an enlightening psychic connection with Koko (the famous sign language communicating gorilla), and a non-diagnosable ailing pet donkey.
After 37 years, the longest-running drama in Australian TV history is coming to an end. We ask why the Neighbours funding model ultimately failed. We speak to Rob Mills, who played the notorious villain Finn Kelly, about his efforts for the show to be rescued. We also look at how the series launched so many careers both on and off the screen. So here we are! 30 episodes later we have finally arrived at the end of Season 5 of the Outrage + Optimism podcast. And what a rollercoaster it has been for all of us in the global climate community since the start of the year! We are due to take a well-earned break over August before we return with gusto in September for Season 6 - but before we go - in this dynamic episode, we take you on a whistlestop tour of the last six months of the podcast, narrated with a present day lens from our hosts, Christiana Figueres, Tom Rivett-Carnac, and Paul Dickinson. We hope you will enjoy revisiting the wisdom and inspiration our guests and hosts offered up over the last six months. Even though it has often felt we are in dark times, we invite you to draw from these episodes the gritty determination to believe that we have what it takes to move the trajectory we are currently on to a safer, more resilient and just world. To paraphrase the teaching of Thich Naht Hahn that Christiana recalls in her interview with Plum Village: “No mud, no lotuses'. And in true Outrage and Optimism fashion, playing us out is the talented Australian TV weather presenter and musician, Jessica Braithwaite. Jessica contacted the team recently to share her positive feedback and offer us the use of her single ‘Hello (You Got My Heart)' to play out the final episode of this season. We jumped at the chance and invited her to reflect on what it means to working as a musician (and weather presenter) in an ecological crisis. We loved her answers - be sure to check out more of her music! Instagram | Twitter | Facebook | TikTok See you next season!
