What is the relationship between creativity and virginity? In this Logos Podcast episode, Fr. Joseph shares a powerful retreat talk given to Catholic creatives, artists, and content creators, exploring the concept of virginity as a way of seeing — a virginal gaze rooted in contemplation, detachment, and love.Drawing from the writings of Monsignor Luigi Giussani, this talk challenges modern assumptions about creativity, possession, control, and productivity. Instead, it proposes a radically Christian vision: true creativity flows from interior detachment, silence, prayer, and reverence for reality as gift.Connect with us here:Website: http://www.logos-podcast.com/Spotify:https://open.spotify.com/show/3PCPWBvNcAbptX17PzlC2x?si=BkEHS4vGSf-xmMlDFcpZ2QApple Podcasts:https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/logos-podcast/id1560191231YouTube: https://youtube.com/@logospodxast?si=RaYkZAfLKea2kBtZInstagram:https://www.instagram.com/logospodxastPatreon: https://www.patreon.com/logospodcastSupport the show

Girls Gone Gritty

Send us a textWhat if the conversations we avoid as parents are the ones our kids need most?In this episode of Girls Gone Gritty, Farley and Jennifer tackle one of the most uncomfortable but important topics in parenting: sex, virginity, and how to talk to your kids about it without shame, fear, or denial. What starts as a candid question quickly becomes a raw, honest discussion about generational shifts, real-life expectations, and why pretending teens are not curious or sexually developing does more harm than good. The hosts explore what age sex realistically enters the picture, how pressure, alcohol, and silence can shape first experiences, and why open communication matters more than strict rules. They reflect on their own experiences, the difference between boys and girls, modern dating culture, and the emotional weight teens carry when they feel unprepared or left out. This episode also zooms out to broader themes of responsibility, health, and agency, touching on burnout, body awareness, food transparency, and raising kids who feel confident asking hard questions. The core message is simple but powerful: you cannot protect your children by avoiding reality, but you can guide them by staying present, honest, and human.Episode Highlights:(1:50) Parenting responsibility and letting kids grow up(3:27) Burnout, body awareness, and listening to signals(5:09) Food, health, and questioning the system(6:25) When and how to talk to kids about sex(7:24) Realistic ages, peer pressure, and curiosity(9:07) Porn, respect, and modern dating confusion(12:50) What “being okay with it” really means as a parent(14:27) Birth control, STDs, and real-world preparation(16:14) Shame, stigma, and changing conversations(18:03) Virginity myths and emotional harm(20:01) Why silence creates insecurity(23:24) Every child is different, so conversations must be too(27:28) Self-respect, pressure, and staying true to yourself(28:26) Health resets, nutrition, and taking control(31:28) Song of the week and closing reflections(32:03) OutroSupport the showFollow us: Web: https://girlsgonegritty.com/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/girlsgonegritty/ More ways to find us: https://linktr.ee/girlsgonegritty

Here St. Isaac does not define virtues as behaviors but as states of being before God. He strips away external markers and leaves the soul alone with truth. What he offers is not a ladder of accomplishments but a geography of the heart. A stranger, he says, is not one who has left a place, but one whose mind has been estranged from all things of life. This is the quiet violence of the Gospel: “They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world” (Jn 17:16). Estrangement here is not contempt for creation but freedom from possession. Abba Arsenius fled Rome, but what he truly fled was the tyranny of relevance. To become a stranger is to consent to being unnecessary. It is to let the world continue without you and discover that God remains. The mourner is not a melancholic soul but a hungry one. He lives, Isaac says, in hunger and thirst for the sake of his hope in good things to come. This is the blessed mourning of the Beatitudes, the ache that refuses consolation because it has tasted something eternal. St. John Climacus calls mourning “a sorrow that is glad,” because it is oriented toward the Kingdom. It is grief baptized by hope. Such a soul does not despise joy; it waits for the only joy that cannot be taken away. Then Isaac dares to say what a monk truly is. Not one who has taken vows, not one who wears a habit, but one who remains outside the world and is ever supplicating God to receive future blessings. The monk stands at the edge of time and begs. His posture is eschatological. He lives as though the promises are real. This is why the monk's wealth is not visible. It is the comfort that comes of mourning and the joy that comes of faith, shining secretly in the mind's hidden chambers. Christ Himself names this hiddenness when He says, “Your Father who sees in secret will reward you” (Mt 6:6). The true treasure does not announce itself. It warms quietly. Mercy, too, is redefined. A merciful man is not one who performs selective kindness but one who has lost the ability to divide the world mentally into worthy and unworthy. This is the mercy of God Himself, who “makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good” (Mt 5:45). St. Isaac elsewhere says that a merciful heart burns for all creation: for humans, animals, demons, even for the enemies of God. Such mercy is not sentimental. It is cruciform. It is the heart stretched until it resembles Christ's own. And then Isaac turns to chastity, and again he refuses reduction. Virginity is not merely bodily restraint but an interior reverence. One who feels shame before himself even when alone. This is a startling phrase. It speaks of a soul that lives before God even when no one is watching. Shame here is not self-loathing but awe. It is the trembling awareness that one's thoughts are already prayers, or blasphemies, before the face of God. Therefore Isaac is unsparing: chastity cannot survive without reading and prolonged prayer. Without immersion in the Word, the imagination becomes a wilderness of unguarded images. Without prayer, the heart has no shelter. Abba Evagrius taught that thoughts are not defeated by force but by replacement—by filling the mind with divine fire. The Jesus Prayer, Scripture read slowly, the psalms murmured in weakness, these do not merely resist impurity; they transfigure desire itself. What unites all these sayings is this: St. Isaac is describing a soul that has accepted vulnerability. God has permitted the soul to be susceptible to accidents: not as punishment, but as mercy. Weakness becomes the doorway. Hunger becomes the guide. Shame becomes watchfulness. Mourning becomes wealth. Nothing here is safe, and nothing here is superficial. This is not an ethic for the strong. It is a path for those who have consented to be poor before God. In the end, St. Isaac is teaching us how to stand unarmed in the presence of the Kingdom; estranged from the world, aching for God, clothed in quiet prayer, and guarded not by our strength but by grace that shines unseen in the depths of the heart. --- Text of chat during the group: 00:04:33 Fr. The Truth About Virginity: What Counts and What Doesn't

Send us a textEver wondered what actually counts as losing your virginity? The Nobody's Talking Podcast crew dives headfirst into this surprisingly complex question, challenging traditional definitions with their signature blend of humor and straight talk. Their conclusion might shock anyone still holding onto their v-card on technicalities! The conversation flows naturally between serious topics and hilarious tangents as the hosts share personal stories from their humble beginnings. From pot-belly stoves and register heating to the particular challenges of dating without transportation in country settings, their contrasting upbringings highlight the American experience across different environments. When the topic shifts to heated driveways and multi-million dollar homes, the wealth gap becomes starkly apparent through their authentic reactions.Sports fans will appreciate the deep dive into quarterback development, using Spencer Rattler's journey from top high school prospect to college benchwarmer to NFL starter as a case study in perseverance. The hosts examine how player confidence, mental toughness, and finding the right system often matter more than raw talent—a lesson that extends beyond football. Their breakdown of the Crawford vs. Canelo fight highlights not just the technical aspects but the business of boxing, including the shocking $90 million pay disparity between equally talented fighters.Whether you're interested in frank discussions about sexuality, nostalgic reflections on growing up with limited means, or thoughtful sports analysis, this episode delivers authentic conversation that feels like hanging out with friends who aren't afraid to say what everyone's thinking. The Bonfire with Big Jay Oakerson and Dan Soder

DJ Lou gets bombarded with 90's slow jams and now hates the genre. Jay loves R&B and knows all the songs that Lou despises. The sexy music leads into stories of young love. Jay lost his virginity after a meatball meal and had an accident that almost ruined the milestone experience. Bob was very young and seduced by an older woman. Both guys grew up in schools that resembled prisons. Many of Jacob's high school teachers took advantage of the students except him. *To hear the full show to go www.siriusxm.com/bonfire to learn more! Today's episode of Uncommon Sense with Ginny Robinson is a carefully crafted full-on rant about two awful cultural failures, Donald Trump and Taylor Swift. Both, in their own ways, are failing the next generation and pushing the normalization of pedophilia. Trump refuses to release the Epstein list or hold powerful pedophiles accountable. Meanwhile, Taylor Swift flaunts her naked body on her album cover marketed to an audience that includes young girls who are already being tempted by a society pushing them toward OnlyFans. Feminism has clearly failed. We need to bring back the biblical patriarchy, AKA Christianity. At some point, we have to stop asking why is all of this happening and start living biblically individually, in our families, and as a society. For the sake of our own wellbeing and (far more importantly) the protection of our children. If we can't even agree to safeguard their innocence, what are we doing? Why aren't we protecting the children?--https://bakerbookhouse.com/featured/the-brand-sunday
