In last week's column, it was mentioned that January 21 is national hugging day. I also read about Thank you day being in January, and the last week in January has long been known as international forgiveness week. The other morning, I was listening on the radio and heard it say that a noted Doctor stated that "70% of the people would be released from hospitals in 24 hours if they knew they were forgiven." A French philosopher once said that "to know all is to forgive all." Among my heroes of faith are many missionary friends whose forgiving heart has taken them to their former captors. That is the story of St Patrick's, who went back to Ireland as a Christian missionary to take the love of Christ. A well known missionary and author of many books, worked among the people who killed her husband and other missionaries. There are many heroes of faith who live a life of daily forgiveness. Forgiveness is the mark of maturity. Life is too short to hold a grudge. Harry E Fausik once said, "Hating people is like burning down your home to get rid of a rat. The inability to forgive and forget is what makes someone sick." As we have many warm thoughts on forgiveness during International forgiveness week, may we remember there is a little remedy to ease the life we live and make each day a happier one. It is the word "forgive." Warm Thoughts to ponder: "Friendship flourishes at the fountain of forgiveness." William A Ward. "The weak can never forgive. Forgiveness is the attribute of the strong." Gandhi. "I will forgive their iniquity and remember their sin no more." Jeremiah 31:34. Have a beautiful forgiveness week. 90:14 THSV11 “Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love, that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days.” (Gratitude is the memory of the heart) - Jean Baptiste Massieu (God gave you a gift of 86,400 seconds today. Have you used one to say 'thank you?) ( Make improvements, not excuses. Seek respect, not attention.) ― Roy T. Bennett, “ให้การพัฒนาตัวเราเอง ทำให้เราสาละวน จนไม่มีเวลาไปวิพากษ์วิจารณ์คนอื่น!” (Let the improvement of yourself keep you so busy that you have no time to criticize others.” The man who forgets to be thankful has fallen asleep in life.) We never know what people are going through. Give grace and mercy because one day your circumstance could change and you may need it.” (If you want to lift yourself up, lift up someone else.) ― Booker T. Washington “ การหนุนใจเปรียบเหมือนน้ำที่ให้ความชื่นใจต่อจิตวิญญาณ และทำให้ทุกสิ่งทุกอย่างเจริญเติบโตขึ้น!” (Encouragement is like water to the soul, it makes everything grow.)

Welcome to Day 1866 of our Wisdom-Trek, and thank you for joining me. This is Guthrie Chamberlain, Your Guide to Wisdom The Tightrope of Life – Daily Wisdom Welcome to Wisdom-Trek with Gramps. We are on Day 1866 of our Trek, and it's time to explore another nugget of wisdom, which includes an inspirational quote along with some wise words from Gramps for today's trek. Wisdom is the final frontier in gaining true knowledge. So we are on a daily trek to create a legacy of wisdom, seek out discernment and insights, and boldly grow where few have chosen to grow before. Hello, my friend; this is Gramps. Thanks for coming along on today's trek as we increase Wisdom and Create a Living Legacy. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Proverbs%2016%3A16&version=NLT (Proverbs 16:16) How much better to get wisdom than gold, and sound judgment than silver! If you apply the words you hear today, over time, it will help you become more healthy, wealthy, and wise as you continue your daily trek of life. So let's jump right in with today's nugget: Today's quote is from William A. Ward, and it is: A well-developed sense of humor is the pole that adds balance to your steps as you walk the tightrope of life. The Tightrope of Life Life is sometimes challenging, sort of like walking on a tightrope. You have to be very careful with each step you take. This trek of life can be a difficult path to take, but just like being on a tightrope or climbing a mountain, the higher you go, the more beautiful the scenery. In both examples, you need to make sure you are appropriately outfitted and be very careful to have the proper balance. That is where a well-developed sense of humor comes into play. Whether it is a balancing beam on a tightrope or a good walking stick for a challenging hike in life, a good sense of humor will steady you through those difficult life situations we all encounter. A well-developed sense of humor needs to be cultivated in your life. First, don't take life too seriously. Unless a situation causes harm to life or limb, then you can laugh at it and get through it. Also, invest time reading funny stories, jokes, listening to comedians, and watching funny programs. This will help you get through the challenging times with more ease and comfort. As God's children, we are to live fully and enjoy what He has blessed us with. Therefore, we all need to lighten up and live. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=2%20Corinthians%208%3A2&version=NLT (2 Corinthians 8:2) They are being tested by many troubles, and they are very poor. But they are also filled with abundant joy, which has overflowed in rich generosity. https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=John%2010%3A10&version=NLT (John 10:10) The thief's purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life. As you ponder this nugget of wisdom for yourself, please encourage your friends and family to join us and then come along tomorrow for another day of ‘Wisdom-Trek, Creating a Legacy.' If you would like to listen to any of our past 1865 treks or read the Wisdom Journal, they are available at Wisdom-Trek.com. Week One: 03/06/22 Title: Learn to Fail Forward Bible: Various Bible Verses “I have not failed. I have just found 1,000 ways that won't work.” by Thomas Edison “Failure doesn't disqualify you; it slows you down to be built back up.” Matthew 14:31 (NLT) 31 Jesus immediately reached out and grabbed him. “You have so little faith,” Jesus said. “Why did you doubt me?” Matthew 16:23 (NLT) 23 Jesus turned to Peter and said, “Get away from me, Satan! You are a dangerous trap to me. You are seeing things merely from a human point of view, not from God's.” Matthew 26:34 – 35 (NLT) 34 Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, Peter—this very night, before the rooster crows, you will deny three times that you even know me.” 35 “No!” Peter insisted. “Even if I have to die with you, I will never deny you!” And all the other disciples vowed the same. Luke 22:61 – 62 (NLT) 61 At that moment the Lord turned and looked at Peter. Suddenly, the Lord's words flashed through Peter's mind: “Before the rooster crows tomorrow morning, you will deny three times that you even know me.” 62 And Peter left the courtyard, weeping bitterly. John 21:15 – 19 (NLT) 15 After breakfast Jesus asked Simon Peter, “Simon son of John, do you love me more than these?” “Yes, Lord,” Peter replied, “you know I love you.” “Then feed my lambs,” Jesus told him. 16 Jesus repeated the question: “Simon son of John, do you love me?” “Yes, Lord,” Peter said, “you know I love you.” “Then take care of my sheep,” Jesus said. 17 A third time he asked him, “Simon son of John, do you love me?” Peter was hurt that Jesus asked the question a third time. He said, “Lord, you know everything. You know that I love you.” Jesus said, “Then feed my sheep. 18 “I tell you the truth, when you were young, you were able to do as you liked; you dressed yourself and went wherever you wanted to go. But when you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and others will dress you and take you where you don't want to go.” 19 Jesus said this to let him know by what kind of death he would glorify God. Then Jesus told him, “Follow me.” Acts 2:36 – 38 (NLT) 36 “So let everyone in Israel know for certain that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, to be both Lord and Messiah!” 37 Peter's words pierced their hearts, and they said to him and to the other apostles, “Brothers, what should we do?” 38 Peter replied, “Each of you must repent of your sins and turn to God, and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. Then you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. Do you turn AWAY from Jesus or TO Jesus in these moments? Matthew 27:3 – 4 (NLT) 3 When Judas, who had betrayed him, realized that Jesus had been condemned to die, he was filled with remorse. So he took the thirty pieces of silver back to the leading priests and the elders. 4 “I have sinned,” he declared, “for I have betrayed an innocent man.” “What do we care?” they retorted. “That's your problem.” 5 Then Judas threw the silver coins down in the Temple and went out and hanged himself. Luke 24:47 (NLT) 47 It was also written that this message would be proclaimed in the authority of his name to all the nations, beginning in Jerusalem: ‘There is forgiveness of sins for all who repent. Do you BUILD on what you learn or BOTTOM OUT? Colossians 3:10 - 11 (NLT) 10 Put on your new nature, and be renewed as you learn to know your Creator and become like him. 11 In this new life, it doesn't matter if you are a Jew or a Gentile, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbaric, uncivilized, slave, or free. Christ is all that matters, and he lives in all of us. “Failure should be our teacher, not our undertaker. It is delay, not defeat. It is a temporary detour, not a dead-end street.” William A. Ward
O.M.G. - ‘Oh my God!' Have you ever wondered what this abbreviation and expression means? According to Louis Schwartzberg it means the following: ‘Oh' means something caught your attention, makes you present, makes you mindful. ‘My' means it connects with something deep inside your soul. ‘God' is that personal journey we all want to be on to be inspired and connected in a way that celebrates life. O.M.G. may be in response to the beauty and seduction of nature, the innocence of a new-born baby, the friskiness of a dog or a connection we feel to someone we love. We we are moved by it. Our hearts are opened. We're not separate from that thing. We are at one and connected. These are the precious moments of life. As the illustrious and brilliant William A. Ward once shared, ‘God gave you a gift of 86,400 seconds today. Have you used one to say ‘thank you?' Join me today on my Tuck Talk Podcast for an inspiring conversation. You'll be O.M.G.
