Did you know that serious players have very high self-esteem? Today we're continuing with our series about serious play, where Ray has been sharing the various characteristics of serious players. Today, we will be looking at characteristic number four, positive paranoia, which is one of Ray's favorite topics. Listen in, to find out what Ray has to share about positive paranoia and serious players. What Ray and Brenda discovered, while doing their interviews and research over four years about serious players, is that serious players assume that if people really understood them, they would value them. So serious players believe that all the things that people are saying about them behind their backs are positive. And all the people who Ray and Brenda interviewed, who described themselves as serious players, had really high self-esteem. Tune in now, to find out about the kind self-confidence that serious players all have. Show Highlights: All the people who described themselves as serious players had very high self-esteem and they saw themselves as truly having value. The serious players all had self-confidence and they didn't have doubts. The serious players that Ray and Brenda interviewed were people who all looked at the glass as three-quarters full, not half full, particularly as it related to them. Serious players tend to get criticized for being arrogant and overly self-confident. Serious players don't take the criticism that's leveled at them very seriously. Ray tells the story of Willy Brown. Because of their positivity, serious players believe in themselves and they can go into places that other people are very fearful of going. Serious players are authentic, they are comfortable in their own skins, they have a high degree of personal integrity, and they enjoy being themselves. Serious players are very happy and they're self-contained. Ray talks about his grandfather, who helped Ray discover his own positive paranoia. How to start tapping into your own authenticity. How learning to accept compliments allows us to discover and appreciate our value. The more we lose and give, the more we will have. Most times, our value is hidden in plain sight and we just don't recognize it. Links: https://thegenysysgroup.com/

In recent years, the debate about automation and employment has taken a new turn. What has re-ignited the debate is the realisation that the process of ‘combinatorial innovation’ in digital technology—the combination of massive increases in processing power, big data analytics, sensor technology, digital mapping and machine learning—has opened up the possibility that large numbers of non-repetitive jobs which require some cognitive skills may become amenable to automation in the foreseeable future. This kind of work—classically defined as ‘white collar’ jobs in the UK (‘middle-class’ in the US)—represents a significant proportion of current industrial and commercial employment, and significant displacement of it by technology would be a major development for societies. Estimates of the potential disruption vary, but the best-known study (by Frey and Osborne) estimates that fully 47 per cent of the 702 job categories identified by the US Bureau of Labor could now be vulnerable. At this stage, there is no way of determining whether the sceptics or the predictions are correct. This uncertainty, however, should not be the end of the discussion, but the beginning. The possibility that a significant proportion of middle-class work could be mechanised at the pace we have seen in other areas affected by digital technology is an eventuality that needs to be taken seriously, even if the probability of it happening is lower than evangelists believe. The existence of a stable middle class is a prerequisite for a viable democracy, and the prospect of it being destabilised is therefore of great interest to our Technology and Democracy project. To discuss it we have brought together four speakers, each of whom brings a different perspective to the issue. Robert Madelin is Senior Adviser for Innovation in the European Commission Daniel Susskind is a Fellow of Balliol College, Oxford and co-author of The Future of the Professions (OUP) Willy Brown is Emeritus Professor of Industrial Relations, University of Cambridge and former Master of Darwin College Gerard de Vries is Emeritus Professor of the Philosophy of Science at the University of Amsterdam and a former member of the Netherlands Scientific Council for Government Policy, the think tank of the Dutch government for long-term policy issues This talk is part of the Technology and Democracy Events series.

Bill Douglas and Carol Brouillet are interviewed at the 9/11 International Inquiry-Phase 1 in San Francisco, CA at the end of March, 04.Bill Douglas lives in Kansas City, Mo. where he works with the 911Visibility Project-- a national project and organization which supplies support and tools for organizing and getting out the word about what happened on Sept. 11, 01. This project goes straight to the people by using signs saying "Stop the 911 Cover-Up". Douglas talks about the need for going around some leaders and straight to the people with information and organizing. In fact, people are hungry for information and building an action-oriented 911 truth movement. More and more local organizations are being organized and the 911 visibility website provides a good way to get local contacts in your area and organize to broaden the number of people demanding an end to the cover up and an exposure of the truth of what happened on 9/11/2001.Carol Brouillet organized the International Inquiry, Phase 1, in San Francisco. She has been working on exposing this cover up almost since the tragic events occurred in 2001. She speaks about the conflicting interests of the Official 911 Commission, which she calls a way to justify the limitations on our civil rights-- moving toward a police state-- being put in place since September 11. She runs down the backgrounds of the commission members. People came to the Inquiry from long distances, including other countries, to this conference. The Inquiry consisted of 21 hours of talks by 911 researchers and activists. Brouillet refers to it as the ABC's of 911-- a military standdown of planes on 911, evidence of top US Gov't officials having links with the money behind Sept. 11 and Bob Graham having breakfast with the Head of Pakistani Intelligence who had wired $100.000 to Mohammed Atta a few days before 9/11, building 7 looked like a controlled demolition and collapsed on Sept. 11 even though it wasn't hit by any planes or anything-- and many many more questions (and answers) about the true story of what happened on Sept. 11.Part of the conference was a group walk across the street, carrying the "stop the 911 cover up" signs, to San Francisco City Hall to ask the present Mayor of San Francisco to investigate how and by whom Willy Brown, the former Mayor of San Francisco, was informed not to fly on 9/11. Some websites are http://www.communitycurrency.org/ Phase 2 of the 911 International Citizen's Inquiry will take place from May 25. That website is http://www.911inquiry.org/ Both Douglas and Brouillet suggest that Ray Griffin's book "The New Pearl Harbor" might be the needed breakthrough on the issue of the 911 cover up. There are many website and links for further information.
