In the first half, author Eldon Taylor, an expert in subliminal communication and hypnosis, discussed the vast potential of human consciousness, including psychic abilities and manifesting tangible outcomes. There is no limit to human potential, he remarked, as he shared fascinating stories of savants, including one individual who, after a traumatic brain injury, became a mathematical genius. He emphasized the importance of recognizing and training our mental abilities, suggesting that when "we work out at the gym, we train our body, but we don't train our mind." Regarding psychic experiences, he asserted that "more people have it and will admit to having it," but many suppress or dismiss these abilities due to fear or societal stigma. He added, "If you have that natural ability, I believe that we should all develop those gifts that are given."Taylor explained the importance of self-assessment in personal growth, stating, "You need to have a serious self-assessment... listen to how you talk to yourself." He encouraged listeners to confront their inner dialogues, which often undermine their ambitions. He recalled a powerful exercise he conducts with audiences, asking them to silently affirm their goals, only to observe their negative reactions in how they talk to themselves. Taylor also warned against the dangers of consuming polarized media, explaining how it can manipulate emotions and rewire thought patterns. He called for a collective pause to reflect and recharge, advocating for gratitude and self-care in the face of overwhelming societal challenges.----------In the latter half, mind-body practitioner and author Bill Douglas spoke about the latest developments in the science of consciousness and meditation. Citing Dr. Herbert Benson's research, he reported that mind-body practices (such as meditation, Tai Chi, Qigong, yoga, and mindfulness) "can prevent or treat between 60 and 90% of the health issues that send us to the doctor." Pointing out the scientific basis of these techniques, he explained that when we engage in these meditative practices, we experience the alpha brainwave state, our awareness expands, and our immune system gets profoundly boosted. Further, there are compelling results from studies showing that communities with high levels of meditation practitioners were able to reduce the local crime rate.Highlighting the transformative power of meditation and mindfulness, he noted that when we go into these states of coherence, it brings us into the present and in connection with everything. He recalled that over 50% of participants in a meditation study reported extraordinary consciousness experiences, ranging from spiritual events to synchronicities. Douglas also discussed Dr. Dean Radin's research on human consciousness, and Dr. Masaru Emoto's studies on water crystals, which demonstrated that thought could affect the shape of water crystals. Douglas encouraged listeners to embrace mindfulness techniques, such as guided visualization and breath control, to enhance their mental well-being. "Anytime our exhales are longer than our inhales, it slows down the heart, and then that slows down the brain," he explained, indicating that these practices create a fertile ground for healing.
George Noory and author Bill Douglas discuss his findings on human consciousness, how mind/body practices can help people heal from physical illness or even stop wars, and how the teachings of Jesus and Buddha mirror how the mind can solve problems in the world.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
https://notesonfilm1.com/2024/07/31/cinema-rediscovered-2024-wrap-up/ We have nothing but praise for this year's edition of Cinema Rediscovered. In the podcast, we discuss the pleasures of seeing Gilda (Charles Vidor, 1946) and Le Samurai (Jean-Pierre Melville, 1967) in beautiful prints on the opening night; the pleasure in seeing restorations with an audience where every time someone responds differently it raises a question one might not have thought of before; thus, a pleasure that begins in the realm of the aesthetic and moves on and combines with the the real of dreams and thoughts. We talk about the two Edward Yang films screened, A Confucian Confusion (1994) and Mahjong (1996) and praise Ian Wang for doing such a terrific job of introducing the films: interesting, entertaining, succinct and opening up ways of entering the film, a challenge in the age of Wikipedia. We discuss the Ninon Sevilla cabaretera films, possibly the hit of the festival. There was a fantastic programme of 'New' Hollywood films -- Out of Their Depth: Corruption Scandal and Lies in the New Hollywood -- and we discuss the only two films in the programme that we did manage to see: Night Moves (Arthur Penn, 1975) and The Long Goodbye (Robert Altman, 1973). We hope to catch up with the rest when it tours. The festival offers a great balance tween the more esoteric strands and those appealing to a larger audience. It was wonderful to see The Wizard of Oz (1939) with an audience full of children, some of them dressed up as Dorothy. We also touch on the eff Barnaby and Bill Douglas cycles as well as the Sergei Parajanov restorations and other strands of the festival. We will be doing a separate podcast on the Queer Cinema from the Eastern Bloc programme. There were several revelations in this festival that we discuss in the podcast: The Student Nurses (Stephanie Rothman, 1970) the only woman to direct a film in Hollywood between Ida Lupino and Elaine May; Charles Burnett's The Annihilation of Fish (1999); Ehsahn Khoshbakht's beautiful and very personal Cellulloid Underground; and Giuseppe Patroni Griffi's Il Mare (1962), which David Melville Wingrove in his introduction argued had been a formative influence on Jarman as well as Bill Douglas and, we later learned on Tony Richardson as well as Pedro Almodóvar. Quite a queer package. Lastly, we praise how the festival makes use of the city, the different venues, It's part of a concerted effort to bring the city into the festival and the festival into the city. The festival seems an incubator for curators, some curating a single film, some a strand. A very entertaining event, and no one used their phones during the screening. Big Gold Star. The community feel, the social engagement, the educational component of talks and workshops, a teaching people how to do things, all meshed together to form a very impressive festival. Many congratulations to all. Some of the strands will be touring.

Send us a Text Message. What is a global phenomenon and what role do you play in it? As we go about our daily routines keeping the house organized, performing our jobs well, and keeping up with friends and family, we are secluded in a small nucleus of the world. Bring in meditation, Qi Gong, Yoga, and Tai Chi. These activities can be done individually, but more often than not people gather to participate in them. When this happens there is a global shift in consciousness that has been measured and documented. Lynne McTaggart with her Intention experiments has also measured this phenomenon repeatedly and has expanded programs to support people with intention gatherings. My guest today, Bill Douglas, or World Tai Chi and Qi Gong Day, and now a second global event, Global Transformation Project, to expedite Mind Body Education worldwide, has been creating these waves of consciousness for almost three decades. Based out of the Mind Body Institute at the University of Kansas Medical Centre he offers Tai Chi classes for self-care on a weekly basis with profound results. Doug is an award-winning author of 6 books about Mind-Body practices and meditation. He has been published in several languages and Deepak Chopra has called him a “gift” to the world. His latest book is the NEW 2ND EDITION; The Gospel of Science: Mind-blowing New Science on Ancient Truths to Heal Our Stress, Lives, and Planet. Here is the description for it: It is not uncommon for a book to claim to be "life-altering" or "world-altering," what is rare is for authors to provide science proving their book positively affected the entire planet in a scientifically measurable way. These world-altering effects offer profoundly beautiful possibilities, not just for the planet ... but for our personal lives. The science in this book can dramatically lower your stress and improve every aspect of your life, reducing stress and igniting hope. In a world of constant alarming media, things may seem a bit hopeless at times--but new science proves the opposite--we are on the cusp of a personal and global transformationCheck out Bill's Resources:Worldtaichiday.orgGlobaltransformationproject.orgAre you looking for more Tai Chi information? I am Bill Douglas, I speak for the trees. I speak for the trees, for the trees have no tongues. And I'm asking you, sir, at the top of my lungs - who does have standing?Unless …
Comrades (1986) / Patty Hearst (1988) This week we form a union of friendship with Bill Douglas and the Torpuddle Martyrs and get kidnapped by Paul Schrader's visions of St. Patty Hearst
Comrades (Bill Douglas, UK, 1986) In the accompanying podcase, we discuss Bill Douglas' fourth and final film, very different from his earlier trilogy: A three-hour-long epic of the ‘Tolpuddle Martyrs', a group of early 19th-century agricultural workers who band together to unite against the lowering of their wages, form The Friendly Society of Agricultural Labourers, an early form of trade union, campaign against rich landowners, end up on trial on a spurious charge ‘ swearing an illegal oath' and get shipped to serve their sentence in Australia. References to early forms of cinema structure the film's narrative; the story is told through an account of the pre-history of motion pictures: shadow play, magic lanterns, camera obscura, heliotypes, dioramas, The story is fascinating because it is a pre-history of the union movement and also pre-Marx. We discuss how the film becomes less interesting in the second half where the narrative moves to Australia partly because we lose sight of what happens in Britain: the rallying, the support, the organising. In Australia, the Tolpuddle martyrs and indigenous people are seen to share an experience of oppression. But we also see the limits of this, how some of the white oppressed themselves become oppressors as soon as they get a little power. We discuss how the might might be both an unwieldly mess and a very great film. What is beautiful about this movie is the way Douglas films working class people and landscape. There's a real tension between the narrative and the poetic. The storytelling is tortured. Interesting to compare with My Way Home, in which the Scottish bits seemed stronger than the section where he goes into the army and abroad. At it's best, the film brings to mind Chahine's The Land. At its worst it feels uncompromising and a little bit self-indulgent. The film has a very great cast with famous actors playing the upper classes (Robert Stephens, James Fox, Vanessa Redgrave) and then unknown actors playing the workers (Imelda Staunton, Keith Allen, Phil Davies).Barbara Windsor, falls somewhere in between and offers a wonderful turn. England is shown as inhospitable, unfair, unjust. It's a real condemnation. The film is available on BFI blu ray and is also showing on Amazon Prime in a very good print.
On the lighter side of Anzac Day, Greg Douglas talks to his dad Bill Douglas about doing National Service in 1952, a lot of it based on the South Coast.
https://notesonfilm1.com/2023/04/29/thinking-aloud-about-film-the-bill-douglas-trilogy/ We discuss The Bill Douglas Trilogy. The first with it's echoes of Maxim Gorky must be one of the greatest films in the history of cinema, and a discovery. My Ain Folk, also medium length, we also claim is a great film. We hae greater doubts about the third film, My Own Way Home, the only one that really qualifies as feature length. We compare the films to Turkish films we've been seeing recently that describe a way of life that seems centuries old. We also compare the works to the novels of Douglas Stuart (Shuggie Bain; Young Mungo). Lastly, we wonder to what extent class bias affected Bill Douglas' career, a talent as is evident here with such a short filmography....
Sonata #3 for Oboe and Piano (2021) Bill Douglas (1944-)Cantando Pastorale Chick: Hommage to Chick Corea Bill Douglas is a Canadian-born bassoonist, pianist and composer who lives in Boulder, Colorado. He has toured and recorded with the clarinetist Richard Stoltzman since they met in college (Yale, class of 1969). Douglas has written that “(his) basic philosophy of music is that it can be helpful to the world. It can evoke such positive emotions as compassion, tenderness, strength, nobility, upliftedness, and joy.”Bill Douglas provided a performance note: “Do not swing any of this music. Always sing expressively with long, expansive phrasing. Feel free to change slurs, particularly awkward downward ones, in order to make passages easier.” Thanks, Bill. That helped. This recording is unedited, including two squeaks from the oboe and Viva's satisfied chuckle at the end.Scores and recordings of Bill Douglas' work, including a wonderful CD of vocal rhythm exercises, are available at https://billdouglas.cc. His extensive output of compositions which feature oboe, English horn or bassoon is published by TrevcoMusic.com.photo by Fran Hodes, 2023
With truck-show season fast upon us, Long Haul Paul Marhoefer takes the mic for this week's Overdrive Radio edition as the Mid America Trucking show's set to commence on Thursday, March 30th. There will be the pageantry and the pomp, the polish and the shine. Influencers, thought leaders, and micro-celebrities. (Oh my!) But you know what Marhoefer looks forward to the most? It's the war stories. It's the accounts you hear while you're waiting on a table to open up at a steakhouse, or maybe while tipping back a cool beverage or two. It's the unguarded things people tell you about their lives and work when they've had a few days to step away and decompress. This episode features one such conversation. Owner-operator Bill Douglas is an old truck show friend. Marhoefer met him at the Great American Trucking Show in Dallas back around 2016. Back then, Bill was just thinking about becoming a trucker. These days, he's a six-year veteran of the super slab, hauling with a mission, too, to be a mentor to new drivers he's training for Prime. This time last year, the pair went out for that steak, and along the way Bill gave Paul the lowdown on big fleet training -- the good, the bad and the ugly. Also in the podcast: Join ATBS VP Mike Hosted and Overdrive's own Gary Buchs 1:45 p.m. local time Friday, March 31, for the annual Partners in Business seminar. Stay tuned for the updated version of Overdrive's Partners in Business manual, too, to be released next week. Founder of World Tai Chi Qigong Day (WTCQD) Bill Douglas is back sharing science on the effects of Qigong, Tai Chi, Yoga, Meditation and Mindfulness on health. Introducing the Global Transformation Project via his new 2nd edition book 'The Gospel of Science'. Here is an overview of the discussion: International studies back up that human consciousness affects the crystallisation of water, in support of Dr. Emoto. So why was he so vilified by the mainstream? Whole section in 'Gospel of Science' on this issue. The very concept of science is that you are open. If you have a phenomenon and you want to find out what that is, and what made it happened you don't say; "Oh that's not real"; you study it. Throughout history, any way of looking at the world that empowers the individual tends to be frowned on by the powers that be, in any age.. Early Christianity was mystical.. we all have the connection to the divine. Jesus preached that too. Kabbalah and all major religions embrace this. Can tap into become an expression of the divine. When we go into the Alpha state, it opens up the possibility. What you focus on expands.. Trust your divine inner compass, if something doesn't chime right, it's not right! Call to personal responsibility, with preventative health care. The GTP encourages youngsters into the methods that help to 'defrag' the mind. By using one of the 'Big 5' children can be shown how to access the alpha state, therefore rebooting their bio-computer. Science shows that alpha waves produce smarter kinder more compassionate, multidimensional and creative thinkers, who solve problems in more elegant and less fragmented way. When we go into the alpha state, it increases the physical size and function of the empathy and compassionate parts of the brain whilst physically shrinking the stress and fear parts Compassion very foundation of universe. It can lead us out of this global situation. Every time we go into a coherent state, its an act of global evolution How we stay true to compassion is meditation. Self compassion is where it begins. We are connected to everything How you speak to yourself resonates in your waters. Blessing our food, encourages saliva, that starts to break down the food, swallowing is more digestible, food tastes better and is enjoyable. There is a belief that this planet is on a dismal track but in truth the possibility for humanity is massive. Average person struggling so hard to make ends meet. Let's envision a new future together. Economics shows us that you create the strongest economic society by having less income disparity. Miracle of existence is often taken for granted.. helps to wake us up to taking more responsible care of ourself. Your internal space can be place of salvation, honour the soulful side of you Ancestral support reminds us we're here because they succeeded; we can lean in, they're spurring us on.. Bill also shares a poignant conscious awakening experience from his mid 20's and a powerful poem. Nicola Tesla said: "The day that science embraces non-physical phenomena - consciousness, is when science will advance more in one decade than has in the whole history of science so far. Stay true to things that resonate well that help nourish the mind, body and soul. Give your practice a daily space. It is important to having a positive vision of the future. We are birthing a New World together. See https://globaltransformationproject.org The Gospel of Science - with live links to research studies https://amzn.to/3oyw28r Bill invites us to adopt this as our own project and spread the information and link everywhere you can, thank you. The choices we make as individuals and as a community are vital at this time for the co-creation of the world we wish to live in and leave to future generations. Founder of World Tai Chi Qigong Day (WTCQD) Bill Douglas shares science on the effects of Qigong, Tai Chi, Yoga, Meditation and Mindfulness on health. Introducing the Global Transformation Project. How did the idea for the WTCQD happen? * Saw how Qi-practice was blowing medical Drs minds. * Researching the medical research via the internet was overwhelmingly in favour of the positive effects on Mind-Body system * The media wasn't in the least bit interested that this could change the lives of millions of people. * Meditating when an idea came him to create a mass Tai Chi exhibition. Hosted in the visually spectacular Nelson Atkins Art Museum in Kansas City. As envisioning, he could see this was much more than 1 event. * CNN covered the event in 1998 which lit the fuse for WTCQD to expand across the world * Similar to how the Global Transformation Project showed itself * Preventative pro-active healthcare with the 'Big 5' Tai Chi and Qigong, Yoga, Mindfulness and Meditation What is true health care? How can encourage each other? * Current healthcare system is blocked to the solutions even to realised scientific studies. Less that .5% funding goes to complementary health care in the U.S. . * Results of Shingles vaccination study found that the Tai Chi group had 50% more helper T-cells than the control group did. Natural immunity building inside. * During the Covid crisis, they looked at frontline healthcare workers who are exposed to all the different variants, and found that the healthcare workers that caught Covid had fewer helper T-cells and CB 4 cell counts. The research shows again that Tai Chi Qigong increases helper T-cells and CB4 cell counts. * The Big 5 Tai Chi Qigong Yoga Meditation and Mindfulness all boost the immune system. Needs to be studied in more depth. * Global Transformation Project is aimed at public education. Getting into schools could change immunity of whole planet. * Global Conscious Project with Dr. Roger Nelson at Princeton University's research labs measure the effect of global consciousness using random effect generators around the globe, responding to the effect of Princess Diana's death * Ultimate realisation that when groups of people come together in a compassionate state of coherent consciousness - the alpha state - they have a BIG impact on planetary consciousness. * The effect of high frequency is much stronger than the lower frequencies * Compassion woven into fabric of universe. * Results of a study researching people performing both selfish hedonistic acts of pleasure and altruistic acts of pleasure. They found that they both experienced a similar mental high, but the DNA of the people knew the difference. In the DNA of those involved in selfish pleasures, the health expression was degraded. Those involved in altruistic pleasures had a healing effect on the DNA. * Compassion is woven into every aspect of humanity. * How we speak to our selves is how we speak to our cells. I love this information! More in The Gospel of Science' by William Douglas * Concept of the book is to get mind-body practices into education Science shows that it makes smarter students and actually increases IQ. Improved test scores make healthier students, reduces bullying, increasing the empathy and compassionate parts of the brain and physically reduces stress. * 1000's more meditators and we will really know the effect of us together on the planet. * Global transformation in a very real way. Global transformation project this is a opportunity to bring this throughout this time 2022 here we grow we can do this back up with science the experience. The stress and fear parts of the brain start to shrink when we go into coherent alpha states. Empathy and compassion parts of the brain start expand. A kinder, more compassionate and abundant planet. Saving trillions of dollars on future medical and social costs. globaltransformationproject.org The Gospel of Science - with live links to research studies https://amzn.to/3oyw28r Bill invites us to adopt this as our own project and spread the info and link everywhere. Opticwise CEO, Bill Douglas, joins Dan and Wayne to discuss how technology is enabling commercial real estate to increase tenant occupancy and retention as well as drive higher revenues. The resulting impact is improved Net Operating Income and asset value. By combining traditional networks like Wi-Fi with advanced controllers and SaaS systems, commercial real estate can eliminate the numerous disparate external telecom services that provide no direct value and provide tenants a holistic data/telecom experience the building owner controls and monetizes without dependency on external service providers.

Sonata for Oboe and Piano (2004) Bill Douglas (1944-)Cantabile Tenderly Singing, Playful Bill Douglas is a Canadian-born bassoonist, pianist and composer who now lives in Boulder, Colorado. He toured and recorded for thirty years with the classical clarinetist Richard Stoltzman and with his own jazz ensembles. Among the musicians he says influenced him are J. S. Bach, Bill Evans, Keith Jarrett, Josquin Desprez, William Byrd, Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau, Ralph Vaughan Williams and Ali Akbar Khan. He wrote this sonata for the oboist Alan Vogel. He has written that “(his) basic philosophy of music is that it can be helpful to the world. It can evoke such positive emotions as compassion, tenderness, strength, nobility, upliftedness, and joy.”Bill Douglas provided this program note in the score: “The first and third movements follow the standard bebop jazz form: a somewhat complex theme played in unison, followed by an improvisation on the chord progression of the theme and then a return to the theme with variations. In this case, however, the ‘improvisation' sections are completely written out. The third movement was influenced by West African rhythms.” Scores and recordings of Bill Douglas' work, including a wonderful CD of vocal rhythm exercises, are available at https://billdouglas.cc. photo ©Lefteris Padavos 2016

This past month we celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing. But you can’t get to the moon without fuel, and no, I’m not talking about rocket fuel. Astronauts, no matter how superhuman they may seem, still have to eat just like you and me. And what they ate for breakfast on that July day in 1969 mimicked a breakfast consumed eight years prior before the first manned space mission ever taken on by NASA. On May 5th, 1961, Alan Shepard was launched into space aboard Freedom 7 as part of Project Mercury. He was the first human in space for the United States, and although his flight duration was only 15 minutes and 22 seconds, his voyage was a stepping stone for manned space exploration. In the early hours of that same morning Shepard was awakened by flight surgeon Bill Douglas, and after getting ready took in a breakfast of filet mignon, eggs, orange juice, and tea. This high-protein breakfast was designed in part to give Shepard the energy needed to complete his

Earlier today, Julianne Moore got an Oscar nomination for "Still Alice." She is by far the betting favorite to win the best actress award. But you may remember her better as Franny Hughes Crawford on "As The World Turns." And four or five years before Ellen said "I'm gay," Bill Douglas came out as a gay teenager on One Life to Live. That character was played by Ryan Philippe. In fact, Leo DiCaprio, Maria Tomei, Tommy Lee Jones, Parker Posey, Kevin Bacon, Meg Ryan, they all worked on soaps before they moved on. Now there are only four soap operas left – drawn out, dramatic stories that used to be sponsored by soap manufacturers, and now are struggling to maintain relevance to house wives who have a lot more options in the middle of the day. We'll talk about this slice of Americana with those in the industry, and a professor who co-directs “Project Daytime.”Support the show: http://www.wnpr.org/donateSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
09-07-10 – Bill Douglas, Richard Standing Bear by Nightwatch Radio
In an interview recorded on January 17th, 2008, this episode of Visibility 9-11 welcomes 9-11 activist Bill Douglas. Bill is one of the founders of the original 9-11 Visibility Project out of Kansas City and has written and lectured extensively about the 9-11 Cover-Up.Bill has recently been helping to promote the new 9-11 truth novel, The Shell Game by Steve Alten, which comes highly recommended by Visibility 9-11. If you missed the interview with Steve and his messages to the 9-11 Truth Movement, click here to learn why this is such an important book for our cause.Music by Chris Jankoski.
Bill Douglas and Carol Brouillet are interviewed at the 9/11 International Inquiry-Phase 1 in San Francisco, CA at the end of March, 04.Bill Douglas lives in Kansas City, Mo. where he works with the 911Visibility Project-- a national project and organization which supplies support and tools for organizing and getting out the word about what happened on Sept. 11, 01. This project goes straight to the people by using signs saying "Stop the 911 Cover-Up". Douglas talks about the need for going around some leaders and straight to the people with information and organizing. In fact, people are hungry for information and building an action-oriented 911 truth movement. More and more local organizations are being organized and the 911 visibility website provides a good way to get local contacts in your area and organize to broaden the number of people demanding an end to the cover up and an exposure of the truth of what happened on 9/11/2001.Carol Brouillet organized the International Inquiry, Phase 1, in San Francisco. She has been working on exposing this cover up almost since the tragic events occurred in 2001. She speaks about the conflicting interests of the Official 911 Commission, which she calls a way to justify the limitations on our civil rights-- moving toward a police state-- being put in place since September 11. She runs down the backgrounds of the commission members. People came to the Inquiry from long distances, including other countries, to this conference. The Inquiry consisted of 21 hours of talks by 911 researchers and activists. Brouillet refers to it as the ABC's of 911-- a military standdown of planes on 911, evidence of top US Gov't officials having links with the money behind Sept. 11 and Bob Graham having breakfast with the Head of Pakistani Intelligence who had wired $100.000 to Mohammed Atta a few days before 9/11, building 7 looked like a controlled demolition and collapsed on Sept. 11 even though it wasn't hit by any planes or anything-- and many many more questions (and answers) about the true story of what happened on Sept. 11.Part of the conference was a group walk across the street, carrying the "stop the 911 cover up" signs, to San Francisco City Hall to ask the present Mayor of San Francisco to investigate how and by whom Willy Brown, the former Mayor of San Francisco, was informed not to fly on 9/11. Some websites are http://www.communitycurrency.org/ Phase 2 of the 911 International Citizen's Inquiry will take place from May 25. That website is http://www.911inquiry.org/ Both Douglas and Brouillet suggest that Ray Griffin's book "The New Pearl Harbor" might be the needed breakthrough on the issue of the 911 cover up. There are many website and links for further information.
