Pien Wekking (27) is contentcreator en kookboekenschrijver. Ze studeerde aanvankelijk rechten, maar besloot op haar 23e een ander pad te volgen. Tijdens de coronapandemie verplaatste haar liefde voor eten zich naar haar Instagramaccount, waar ze foto's van haar gerechten begon te delen onder de noemer Pien laat haar eten zien. In de keuken ging er een wereld voor haar open, en inmiddels heeft ze van haar hobby haar werk gemaakt. De laatste week van oktober is er eentje om niet snel te vergeten. Er waren verkiezingen, een mislukt dancefeest en nieuws over de Zaanse Schans dat niemand verbaasde. Je hoort erover in De Week van De Orkaan. De invoering van een verplicht ticket voor de Zaanse Schans per april 2026 is voorlopig van de baan. Piet Bakker is niet verbaasd en vertelt er meer over. Heel even was buurthuis De Zeskanter nationaal nieuws. Edwin Kleiss had ermee te maken en hij doet uit de doeken waarom het stemlokaal daar niet op tijd open kon gaan. Dat het bij een feest op het Hembrugterrein niet helemaal goed ging, gebeurt helaas vaker. Als er in de toekomst veel meer mensen gaan wonen, moeten zulke evenementen anders georganiseerd gaan worden. De nieuwe bewonersvereniging Hembrug Buurtbelang wil daar graag over meepraten. Burgemeester Jan Hamming probeert de lawaaioverlast door de demonstraties bij het hoofdkantoor van Ahold Delhaize tot een minimum te beperken door sirenes te verbieden en het aantal fluitjes aan banden te leggen. Rein van Duivenboden (26) is acteur, zanger en presentator. In 2012 maakte hij deel uit van de boyband Mainstreet, die bekendheid kreeg door hun deelname aan het Junior Songfestival. Na vier jaar ging de groep uit elkaar en richtte Van Duivenboden zich op acteren. Entré en vigueur vendredi 10 octobre à 11 heures selon l'armée israélienne, cet accord prévoit également la libération des otages israéliens détenus par le Hamas. En échange les Palestiniens détenus par Israël seront libérés et une arrivée plus conséquente de l'aide humanitaire, auparavant bloquée par Israël, sera permise. D'ores et déjà, les chancelleries arabes et occidentales s'affairent à préparer la suite, notamment la reconstruction de la bande de Gaza, méthodiquement rasée par Israël. Cet accord de cessez-le-feu est-il le préambule d'une paix plus durable, telle que prévue par le plan élaboré par l'administration Trump ? Ibrah Silas Jackson (25) is danser, regisseur en choreograaf uit Rotterdam. Op zijn zestiende verhuisde hij van Oeganda naar Nederland. Hier raakte hij geïnspireerd door zijn omgeving en de dansscene om een dansopleiding te volgen. Tegenwoordig choreografeert en regisseert hij zijn eigen dansvoorstellingen. De basis van zijn werk ligt in de hiphopcultuur, die hij combineert met andere stijlen, zoals moderne en Afrikaanse dans. Deze herfst treedt hij op met de stukken Hereditary en Until The Quiet Comes, waarin hij zijn eigen verhaal vertelt en thema's onderzoekt die spelen in het leven van mannen. Hendrika de Vries is the author of the award-winning memoir When a Toy Dog Became a Wolf and the Moon Broke Curfew, a historical memoir about her childhood in Nazi-occupied Amsterdam during WWII that tells a gripping story of resistance, resilience and female strength in the face of brutality and oppression. Her current memoir, Open Turns: From Dutch Girl to New Australian — a Memoir (She Writes Press, Sept. 2, 2025 ), is its coming-of-age sequel. Henny was just a little girl when she experienced brutal violence and hunger in WWII Amsterdam. But she is now a teenage immigrant swimmer in 1950s Australia. She is smart, she swims fast and she has definite opinions about thekind of woman she intends to be––all of which serves her well in her new home, where she must learn to turn challenges into success.Her parents' wisdom continues to guide her. “Intentions are like prayers; you send them out into the universe and if you pay attention they come back as destiny,” her mother says. And when she walks in the bush with her father, hisreverence for the mysteries of nature helps Henny hear the timeless Australian Land speak and see the Southern Cross as a beacon.She enjoys swimming fame and championship victories, but throughout her coming-of-age years, she is also faced with memories, fears and dashed hopes and dreams. Time and again, she dives into the pool to find her own strength and sense of belonging––until, finally, she begins to see more clearly her unique path ahead.Hendrika's life experiences have infused her work as a therapist, teacher and writer. She earned her place as a South Australian state swimming champion, worked as a secretary to the Chief of Staff of a major newspaper's Editorial Department, married the paper's editorial cartoonist and became a young wife and mother.She moved to America in the nineteen sixties, where her husband won the Pulitzer Prize for his biting political cartoons while she gave birth to their third child and embarked on a course of studies that would lead to her interest in Jungian psychology, master's degrees in theology and counseling psychology and a career as a therapist.A depth-oriented marriage and family therapist for over thirty years, she used memories, intuitive imagination and dreams to heal trauma, empower women and address life transitions. As a graduate schoolteacher she helped students explore the archetypal patterns in their life narratives.Hendrika holds a BA with Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Colorado, an MTS in theological studies from Virginia Theological Seminary, and an MA in counseling psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute in Santa Barbara. Her writing has appeared in The New York Times and the LA Times.
