We wonder how singles become popular these days. Mike talks about his impromtu Karol G afterparty and spotify charts. We go over how single chants are the sole factor of appeal in 2 major club songs this year. Joe channels David Guetta and tries to acheive world peace via dance music. Mike gets all Larry David about his Island Boys viral moment. We had to edit a lot because we were laughing so much so have fun with this one!

We start off by catching up after not having seen each other since before covid, and talk about what we did during that time and how it changed us. We get into Old school DJ philosophies VS New School and share tons of stories about the ups and downs of DJing over the past 2 decades. Sat talks about his beginnings as a super young Grafiti artist and DJ, and the balance between being a turntablist and party rocker. Dirty South Joe admits to breaking a code that has been eating at his conscience for years, as we discuss the benefits of letting go of old ways and old beefs. Sat talks about him meeting the rest of his Skratch Mekaniks crew, working closely with Jazzy Jeff, and his non-stop work ethic that has lead to him having his hands in everything. We wrap up talking about our club lives now,how positive we all feel about out jobs, and how grateful we are to do what we do.

Whoa we go really deep on this one with our friend Asher Roth! His new album, The Greenhouse Effect Vol 3, is out now. Its a concept album, reminiscent of the great indie boom of the late 90's, where the production was completely crowdsourced via dischord. But more than just discussing the new album, we go deep on mushrooms, psychedelic experiences, ghosts, dreams, sleep and all types of otherworldly shit. We talk about Asher's hip hop jouney beyond "I Love College" and his growth as an independant artist, the rap industry, and the value of creative freedom. We also listen to some of our favorite tracks from the past and discuss some new music that we're feeling... and much more! This is a packed episode that was a lot of fun to record. As payback for sending him cringe tik tok videos, Joe forces Mike to listen to a genre we can only define as 'cringe rap". We didn't wanna have to do this. We hate ourselves for doing it. But theres a disturbing amount of terrible music thats charting way too high on the itunes rap charts and it needed to be talked about. And we're not talking about the usual complaints that people tend to have about the latest rap trends. We're talking about truly awful rap. Not only are these songs the sonic and emotional equivalent of hearing people cry at a funeral, the sentiments and ideas in these songs go against everything that hip hop represents to us. From all lives matter nonsense to just bad country hip hop hybrids, theres a whole nation consuming horrid rap music, and we're here to vent. (we also have fun and talk about new music and current events)

We start off talking shop about clubs, request stories, twitch life, vinyl life, and the working class DJ perspective we all have. Bonics tells us how he got started as a DJ, and how he linked up with Wiz Khalifa. He shares some stories, including getting stuck overseas when COVID first hit, as well as, some of the difficulties one may face being a stoner in certain countries. We talk about the impact Wiz had on lots of todays rappers both aesthetically and sonically. Then the convo gets very "hits blunt" as we go on about social media, the news, and its alarming impact on ourselves and society. We end with Bonics talking about his new opportunities in Vegas in the marijuana industry, and his current fundraiser to help fight homelessness. After several failed attempts of coming back bigger and better, we were forced to just...comeback. Returning after a long hiatus, Mike lowbeezy, Dirty South Joe, and Jabair are here to talk about DJing and whats poppin in the club. We start off with an impromptu battle of the genre we've dubbed "cubice pop". This has nothing to do with anything. Then we get into what we've been doing since clubs opened back up. We briefly discuss Dababy and Kanye and other dickheads, which leads us to breaking down the unremarkable world of current dude rap and the poor quality of production on so many songs. We talk about the internets influence on club bangers and Gen Z throwbacks. Mike breaks down his set list to demonstrate just how unecessary it is to play modern dude rap in a club. We rap it up hastily and promise to be better with being more consistent.

It's been way too long! We will have new episodes coming soon! But for now, we have an older episode that got lost in the shuffle. Unlike Nas' Lost tapes, this was too good to let just disappear into the abyss. Its from February 26, 2020. It got sandwiched in between a bunch of other episodes and kinda forgotten about. We edited all the stuff that would make it dated and left in an hour and a half of us listening to mostly new dance music. But then the fun really started when we accidentally got into running down the best and worst sports-related rap collabs. Then, as if we hadn't already reached the apex of our podcast existence, Cosmo Baker pops in and joins in on the convo. Thanks for listening and we hope this holds you over till we drop some new episodes NEXT WEEK!
