The New Yorker staff writer David D. Kirkpatrick joins Tyler Foggatt and Andrew Marantz to discuss his investigation—published in August, 2025—into the many ways President Donald Trump has profited during his second term, which include a reported private jet (a gift from Qatar), soaring valuations of Trump Media, and a flood of crypto ventures. They discuss whether these attempts at self-enrichment amount to ordinary political corruption, or whether they represent tools for consolidating power that could in turn accelerate democratic backsliding in the United States, much like in kleptocracies and oligarchies abroad. This episode originally aired on August 20, 2025.This week's reading: “Is There a Remedy for Presidential Profiteering?,” by David D. We know many of you are tired of talking about Bungie, and frankly, we're kind of tired of discussing them, too. Then again, we're captive to the news, so blame Sony for purchasing them. On the back of last week's discussion about the end of Destiny 2 comes word that Bungie is planning major layoffs as it attempts to greenlight a new project to develop alongside the ongoing Marathon. And no, Destiny 3 isn't happening. At least not yet. What's next for this beleaguered team? If we're being totally candid and honest, does a future for Bungie even really exist at all? There's lots of other news this week, too, including rumors surrounding Media Molecule's next game, the peculiar re-reveal of the long-in-development Dragon Quest XII, the confirmation of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 and its October release, trouble surrounding PlayStation 3 emulation on Linux, The Witcher 3's new expansion coming more than a decade after the last, Persona 4 Remake's surprise South Korean games rating, and much more. Then: Listener inquiries! Are indie games treated more softly than AA/AAA games when it comes to reviews? What could the drastic increase in SteamDeck pricing mean for PlayStation 6? Is former Sony second party partner Quantic Dream doomed? Why would anyone try to talk about Sacred Symbols with Magic: The Gathering nerds? This episode is sponsored by BetterHelp. Remedy helps technology and services organizations market through the power of proof, first by using customer voices through case studies, and second by turning their experience, insights and opinions into thought leadership. Sue believes these two things can differentiate a business more powerfully than anything else. Her 35-year career spans global PR agencies, corporate marketing roles and the launch of major technology brands and initiatives including Bluetooth and the DVD, before creating the kind of agency she always wished she could find client-side: one that genuinely helps rather than adds burden, and that can think for itself. Raised by artist parents, she brings a questioning mindset and creative streak to her work as well as being a prolific writer and wordsmith. She spent time out in the art world, running her late father's sculpture studio to ensure his final works were completed, curating silver and gold exhibitions in London's famous Cork Street, and curating a major retrospective at the Mall Galleries in the Royal Mall. Today she is a jewelry designer and budding silversmith in her ‘spare' time. Sue is an advocate for women not just as entrepreneurs but in relation to their health. Many of you feel like you have tried everything, and yet you aren't satisfied. Something deep inside still feels empty, restless, and lonely. Billy Graham stood before brilliant students at Harvard when one asked, “Tell me plainly, how can I know God?” The answer hasn't changed in 2,000 years. How do we know what a homeopathic remedy actually does? That question takes Denise and Alastair into one of the things that truly sets homeopathy apart: provings. In this episode, they talk about how remedy knowledge is gathered, why Hahnemann insisted that it come through experience — not “mere intellectual exertion” — and why the paper trail behind our materia medica matters. They also look at what happens when that trail gets muddy: incomplete provings, speculative remedy pictures, intellectual shortcuts, and remedies being used or sold without clear proving information. The conversation moves from Causticum and Hahnemann's own proving symptoms to Langhammer, Scholten's periodic table work, nosodes, isopathy, and the modern temptation to simplify what was never meant to be simplistic. If you've ever wondered where remedy pictures come from — or how to think more critically about what's in the materia medica — this episode is for you.Strange, Rare & Peculiar is a weekly podcast with Denise Straiges and Alastair Gray of the Institute for the Advancement of Homeopathy and the Academy of Homeopathy Education. This season, we're focusing on truth — what it means to Aude Sapere (“dare to know”) in homeopathy today. From Hahnemann's original insights to the realities of modern practice, research, and education, Denise and Alastair bring over 50 years of experience to conversations that challenge assumptions and invite curiosity.

In this episode, we have the opportunity to speak with Janita about the PresentChild method, a technique based on systemic therapy principles that enable effective communication and understanding with children. This approach is likely to be transformative not only for homeopaths but also for other natural healthcare practitioners who may feel frustrated with patients experiencing relapses after initial success. Janita Venema is the founder and initiator of PresentChild, a method for understanding and communicating with children based on the principles of systemic therapy, family constellations, and quantum physics. Janita Venema is a Dutch psychologist and therapist who has been working with families and children for over 25 years. In her work, she noticed that many parents were struggling to communicate effectively with their children, leading to misunderstandings and conflict. This inspired her to develop the PresentChild method, which helps parents and caregivers understand the underlying messages and needs behind their child's behavior. Janita Venema has written several books on the PresentChild method, including "The PresentChild: A Gift for You and Your Family" and "The PresentChild Toolkit: How to Connect and Communicate with Your Child". She has also trained many professionals, including therapists, counselors, and educators, in the use of the PresentChild method. In 2005, Remedy Entertainment walked onto the E3 show floor with a stunning technology demonstration and one of the most ambitious pitches in gaming: an open world psychological thriller set in a hauntingly beautiful corner of the Pacific Northwest, built around a horror writer whose nightmares had come to life. What they didn't have was a game. This week, David and Rob trace the full story of Alan Wake, from the year of concepting that followed Max Payne 2, through the open world experiment that nearly broke the studio, to the two month Sauna Group intervention that rebuilt everything from the inside out, and the May 2010 release that landed in the same week as Red Dead Redemption. It is a story about a small Finnish studio that bet the farm on a game they hadn't figured out yet, found its heart in a moment of crisis, and built something that refused to be forgotten, on today's trip down Memory Card Lane.Read transcript

Neka Pasquale turned a side project into a $48 million business, and she'll be the first to tell you she had no idea what she was doing. She was an acupuncturist treating patients when she started making food and juices as part of their care. People loved it, word got around, and before long, Urban Remedy was growing faster than she could plan for. There was no roadmap. Just a lot of late nights, a lot of mistakes, and a refusal to quit.On this episode of Dear FoundHer, Neka sits down with host Lindsay Pinchuk to talk about starting a business for the first time with no roadmap, no business background, and no idea the thing would grow into what it became. She shares what it was like fulfilling 500 juice orders while pregnant, shipping food across the country before she was remotely ready, and learning operations, HR, and food safety by making every possible mistake first. The story of how Urban Remedy landed in Whole Foods is worth the listen alone. It didn't come from a pitch. It came from a bike ride. That's partnership marketing working exactly the way it's supposed to, and it's a reminder that the relationships you're already building matter more than any campaign you could run.Scaling a business that sells fresh organic food nationally comes with scaling challenges most brands never take on. Neka talks about managing rapid growth without losing the mission, the burnout that built up quietly over 12 years of nonstop doing, and why protecting what your brand stands for gets harder the bigger you get.For women entrepreneurs who are building something that actually means something, this conversation offers a candid look at what growth actually asks of you.Episode Breakdown:00:00 How Urban Remedy Started by Accident06:25 Managing 500 Orders While Pregnant08:39 The Operational Chaos of Scaling a Business11:15 How a Bike Ride Led to 400 Whole Foods Locations15:36 Staying True to Your Mission at Scale22:22 The Real Challenges of Scaling Fresh Food Nationally23:39 When and Why to Hire a CEO29:14 What Every Woman Founder Needs to Know Before Scaling a BusinessConnect with Neka Pasquale:Follow Neka on Instagram Subscribe to The FoundHer Files Follow Dear FoundHer on Instagram Free Forum Open House + Networking Session Come see what's inside the Dear FoundHer Forum SAVE YOUR SEATJoin THE networking community for women business owners over forty, The Dear FoundHer... On this episode of PS This is Awesome!, the crew dives into a packed week of PlayStation news and rumors.First up, The Blood of Dawnwalker finally has a release date, landing on September 3rd, 2026. A recent showcase gave us a deeper look at its story, gameplay systems, and RPG mechanics—and it's shaping up to be one of the most promising RPGs on PS5.Next, there's some big movement in the Final Fantasy VII remake saga. Director Naoki Hamaguchi revealed that the third and final installment is gearing up for its official reveal, and he's already played through it over 40 times during development. With Remake and Rebirth heading to Xbox and Nintendo platforms, expectations are shifting toward the trilogy finale launching as a multi-platform title. A Summer Game Fest reveal could be right around the corner.Over at Remedy, the team behind Control Resonant is taking a bold creative stance. Art director Elmeri Raitanen says the studio intentionally avoided referencing other AAA games to keep their aesthetic fresh, warning that the industry risks falling into an “aesthetic singularity” if developers stop taking visual risks.Meanwhile, The Outer Worlds is getting a shake-up. The original version is being delisted on PS4 and PS5, but current owners will receive the Spacer's Choice Edition for free. That said, given the remaster's rough launch, there's some cautious optimism that it'll be in better shape this time around. In the VR space, Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 has officially landed on PSVR2 via a new update. Early impressions are strong, though minor performance issues may keep it from overtaking Gran Turismo 7 as the platform's standout experience. And finally, the rumor mill is heating up: signs are pointing toward NetherRealm working on Injustice 3, thanks to a developer resume listing the project. It's not official yet—but it's the strongest hint we've seen in a while. All that and more on this episode of PS This is Awesome!Visit www.patreon.com/psthisisawesome to support the show and help us continue producing the content you love! Please, if you enjoyed the content — or even if you didn't quite enjoy this one — come back. Over the course of the past year, Peter Thiel—the Trump backing, Vance boosting gay tech billionaire—has been delivering a series of lectures on the Antichrist, using an examination of the Biblical antagonist of the End Times to make an argument about the supposed perils of this political moment. We got our hands on transcripts of these talks as delivered last year in San Francisco, and explain what Thiel said and why it matters. Topics include: Thiel's conservative evangelical upbringing, the influence of Rene Girard on his thinking, and how Thiel's Antichrist lectures relate to his broader thinking and worldview; the place of the Antichrist in the eschatology of different Christian traditions, and the curious similarities between Thiel's understanding of the Antichrist and that found in the work of Timothy LaHaye, co-author of the Left Behind novels; Christianity's recent trendiness in Silicon Valley; the way Thiel's account of how the Antichrist will come to power connects to his economic interests; and more! ** BUY TICKETS FOR KYE x MIKE DUNCAN LIVE IN NYC ** Listen again:  "Rene Girard and the Right" (w/ John Ganz), KYE, Feb 26, 2024 "A Remedy for Envy? For two decades, Matt Kaplan has covered science for The Economist. He's seen breakthroughs often occur in spite of, rather than because of, the behavior of the research community, and how support can be withheld for those who don't conform or have the right connections. In his latest book, I Told You So! Scientists Who Were Ridiculed, Exiled and Imprisoned… For Being Right, Matt shines a light on some of these cases, both past and present. From Galileo being threatened with torture To Nobel laureate Katalin Karikó being fired when on the brink of discovering how to wield mRNA–a finding that proved pivotal for the creation of the Covid-19 vaccine. In today's conversation we'll explore some of these stories, Why scientists have had to fight for their revolutionary ideas to be accepted, And reflections on how we can, and need to, do better. Matt's work offers a poignant reminder:If we are going to solve the grand challenges we're facing,From natural disasters to global pandemics,We need science. And, we need each other. The creativity, innovation, and scientific discoveryThat will help us find our way forwardWill come from more humble ways of working together, Recognizing our shared humanity,And ultimately redesigning the systems scientists work in -to prioritize collaboration over cutthroat competition. For more on Matt, his books, writing, and other offerings please visit: somuchsciencesolittletime.comEnjoying the show? Find out how to remove blackheads permanently with the #1 blackhead remedy that addresses the root cause of your skin issues. 0:00 Introduction: What causes blackheads?2:14 Most common blackhead cause 2:51 Vitamin A and blackheads 5:48 The best blackhead remedy Download Dr. Berg's Free Daily Health Routine: https://drbrg.co/45qtO07What causes blackheads? Every blackhead on your face is caused by a specific type of fat called palmitic acid, not bacteria and not dirt. Your body makes palmitic acid out of sugar, so when you consume too much, your body converts the excess into palmitic acid.Zinc deficiency is one of the most common blackhead causes. Vitamin A is also vital for blackhead removal because it controls oil production on the skin. Vitamin A does not work without zinc. To remove blackheads and keep them from returning, you must eliminate excess sugar from your diet. Follow a ketogenic diet, practice intermittent fasting, and consume nutrient-dense foods. Consume liver or shellfish for zinc, and cod liver oil to boost vitamin A.Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio:Dr. Berg, age 61, is a chiropractor who specializes in Healthy Ketosis & Intermittent Fasting. A strange brew that's hard to resist, even for a modern day microbe. In the war on devilish microbes, our weapons are starting to fail us. The antibiotics we once wielded like miraculous flaming swords seem more like lukewarm butter knives. But in this episode, originally released in 2015, we follow an odd couple, of a sort, to a storied land of elves and dragons. There, they uncover a 1,000-year-old secret that makes us reconsider our most basic assumptions about human progress and wonder: what if the only way forward is backward? Special thanks to Steve Diggle, Professor Roberta Frank, Alexandra Reider and Justin Park (our Old English readers), Gene Murrow from Gotham Early Music Scene, Marcia Young for her performance on the medieval harp and Collin Monro of Tadcaster and the rest of the Barony of Iron Bog.
