The federal government's human capital arm added several new industry partners to its Tech Force hiring effort Monday as the program begins to take root in agencies. The new batch of companies is Cisco, Scale AI, Wiz, Arista Networks, Armada, Cognition AI, Cognizant, Payward, and Moveworks, per a release from the Office of Personnel Management. They join a cohort of a couple dozen companies that are already part of the program's industry support, including OpenAI, Google Public Sector, xAI, and Palantir. “These partnerships bring world-class engineering expertise into public service and create a stronger pipeline between industry and government at a moment when modernizing federal technology has never been more important,” OPM Director Scott Kupor said in a written statement Monday. According to the release, the companies will provide training resources and programming, as well as their own employees who they'll nominate for temporary federal service. Cybersecurity Today for June 2, 2026. Microsoft has backed away from its hard-line stance against vulnerability researchers after widespread criticism from the security community. Exposed data includes names, contact information, dates of birth, and government identification details. The ShinyHunters cybercrime group has claimed responsibility and alleges the breach involved even more records. Password manager provider Dashlane temporarily locked some customers out of their accounts after large-scale password-guessing attacks triggered automated security protections. Access was later restored, although some users reported lingering issues. The episode also examines a software supply-chain attack uncovered by Wiz involving 32 Red Hat Cloud Services NPM packages. Amy Schwartz, Chief People Officer at Wiz, joined us on The Modern People Leader. We talked about why HR alone can't create a high-performance culture, why relationships and influence matter more than HR systems, and why "picking up the trash" - a leadership philosophy she picked up working in casinos - has stuck with her ever since.---- Sponsor Links:
In today's Cloud Wars Minute, I examine how Google Cloud is using AI Threat Defense to help customers fight AI-powered cyberattacks. Highlights 00:03 — If you're going to be number one on the Cloud Wars Top 10, you've got to fight to keep that position and stay ahead of the incredible and highly capable competition across the Cloud Wars Top 10. Google Cloud, I believe, has taken yet another big step in ensuring that it remains the number one company on the Cloud Wars Top 10 by launching a new cybersecurity approach. 00:57 — The person leading that is Francis deSouza, who is the Chief Operating Officer of Google Cloud, but also president of its security products. In a blog post last week outlining what this new AI Threat Defense is all about, deSouza said it's time now that business customers be able to fight AI with AI, to defend against these very powerful incursions that the bad guys are going to be making using AI. 01:58 — So, there needs to be, among customers, a big shift in how they do things. It can't be, "Let's just do a little bit more of what we've always done." There's got to be a new approach, and Google Cloud believes it's got that now with this AI Threat Defense for Google Cloud. I believe this is the latest in an ongoing series of steps they've made around cybersecurity. 02:54 — About a year ago — or several months ago — the company announced its intention to acquire Wiz, with its end-to-end threat monitoring and awareness capabilities. That deal has now been completed, and the most recent step, I believe, is the launch of this new solution called Google AI Threat Defense. 03:56 — Now, I'm not trying to read more into that than needs to be said. Maybe Google Cloud AI Threat Defense seemed overly clunky, but I wonder if, in some ways, parent company Google is riding this high now. Google Cloud itself had a growth rate of 63%, up from 48% in the prior quarter, so the company is definitely on a run here. Visit Cloud Wars for more.

Alan sits down with Broadway producer Brian Anthony Moreland for a candid, high-energy conversation about the realities of commercial theatre. Brian shares the fascinating story of how he caught the theatre bug playing Santa Claus in the third grade , his formative years at a performing arts boarding school , and his early career as a non-union dancer dealing with the exhausting audition grind in New York City. He opens up about the pivotal moment he decided to pivot to producing, starting with a grueling five-and-a-half-year journey to bring Thoughts of a Colored Man to Broadway. Alan and Brian pull back the curtain on the industry's economic pressures, debating Broadway financials, escalating production costs, and what it truly takes to balance commercial viability with meaningful, artistic storytelling. The conversation centers deeply on Brian's extraordinary relationship with the work of August Wilson. He recalls the serendipitous train ride to Pittsburgh that led to him producing the record-breaking revival of The Piano Lesson , and how Denzel Washington personally asked him to lead-produce his next Wilson project. Brian breaks down the profound themes of identity, healing, and family preservation driving his latest production at the Barrymore Theatre, Joe Turner's Come and Gone, sharing delightful insights into working with legendary director Debbie Allen and the joyful, nurturing energy that stars Taraji P. Henson and Cedric the Entertainer bring to the rehearsal room. Finally, Brian takes on the 60-second plot challenge, pitches a classic musical, and reflects on the timeless power of theatre as a space where you can be anything. Brian Anthony Moreland is a transformative Broadway producer dedicated to shaping the contemporary cultural landscape through visionary, inclusive storytelling. Originally from California, he began his career as a performer before transitioning into producing. His impressive Broadway repertoire includes the ground-breaking global hit Othello starring Denzel Washington and Jake Gyllenhaal, the record-breaking revival of August Wilson's The Piano Lesson, The Wiz, The Lifespan of a Fact, Sea Wall / A Life, and The Sound Inside. A respected industry leader, Moreland serves on the Board of Governors of The Broadway League, where he co-chairs the Multicultural Task Force. He also holds leadership roles as a Trustee for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, a Trustee of The American Academy of Dramatic Arts, a Board Director for NYC Tourism and Conventions, and is an active member of the Theatre Development Fund (TDF). International tensions took center stage as the U.S. and Iran exchanged military strikes near the Strait of Hormuz while both sides insisted a ceasefire is still in place. According to U.S. Central Command, American naval ships intercepted what were described as unprovoked Iranian attacks and responded with targeted strikes, while Iran accused the U.S. of violating the truce first—raising global concerns due to the Strait’s importance as a major oil shipping route. On the home front, Real Housewives of Atlanta star Drew Sidora opened up about the very real financial stress surrounding her divorce from Ralph Pittman, revealing fears that the Georgia home they once shared could face foreclosure. Court documents show a significant income disparity between the two, and recent rulings have ordered Sidora to vacate the home, intensifying public conversation around finances, custody, and fairness in high‑profile divorces. The episode identifies a structural shift in how AI adoption is being managed within IT environments: control and accountability are now central concerns, overtaking simple discussions of AI usage or feature deployment. Shadow AI—unmanaged or improperly governed AI agents—has emerged as a tangible risk vector. Government entities, such as the White House, and technology vendors including Microsoft, Cisco, and OpenAI are framing AI not only as a productivity tool but increasingly as a source of operational and security liabilities that demand more robust oversight. A key example comes from an incident reported by TechRepublic in which an AI agent within a coding workflow deleted both a production database and its backups, resulting in a prolonged, business-impacting recovery from a three-month-old backup. In parallel, the Hacker News highlighted findings from scans of one million exposed AI services, characterizing the market's current AI security posture as lacking, with many endpoints widely reachable unintentionally. Microsoft's public transition of Agent365 from preview to release was directly tied to fears over the risks associated with shadow AI, indicating industry recognition of autonomous agents as a new attack surface requiring governance. Supporting developments further validate this trend. Cisco's open sourcing of AI Bill of Materials (BOMs) tools, Wiz's tracking of non-human identities tied to AI workloads, and OpenAI's rollout of advanced account security all signal a growing industry emphasis on making AI deployments auditable and restrictable. Practices such as phishing-resistant authentication—driven by token theft campaigns analyzed by Microsoft—and continuous permission monitoring, as advocated by Material Security, are now increasingly viewed as necessary safeguards rather than optional enhancements. Providers like Enforcer and products such as Copilot Manager are explicitly focused on surfacing shadow AI usage and enforcing credential discipline, underlining the growing demand for proof-of-controls. MSPs and IT service providers now face greater operational complexity and contract risk tied to AI automation. Client expectations are shifting from baseline AI access to demonstrable governance—requiring non-human identity inventories, documented permission boundaries, and validated recovery frameworks for AI-powered workflows. Token harvesting and persistent OAuth grants increase the likelihood that MSPs will be held responsible not just for prevention, but for rapid containment, rollback, and producing evidence during security incidents. Failure to meet tightened SLAs around backup immutability, authentication protections, and agent visibility could soon become a material contract exposure. 00:00 Agents Gone Rogue 03:50 Govern the Agent 06:24 MSP at Risk 09:54 Why Do We Care? As Wiz Khalifa had numerous mixtapes circulating that caught absolute fire, the following year would help launch the Taylor Gang leader into position as one of the decade's most decorated MC's. Wiz researcher Sagi Tzadik joins us to break down how a single semicolon led to a critical Remote Code Execution (RCE) vulnerability in GitHub.For two years, Sagi sat on a lead. Reverse engineering GitHub's microservices manually was too tedious to justify the time. Then, AI agents arrived. By hooking Claude directly into his reverse engineering software, he condensed months of grueling binary analysis into 48 hours. The result? A critical bug in how GitHub handles git push options that exposed both SaaS and Enterprise environments. We get into the weeds on how different microservices interpreting the same input differently creates massive attack surfaces, and why security by obscurity is officially dead in the age of AI.What's Inside:- How combining Claude with the IDA MCP server dramatically sped up the reverse engineering process- The technical anatomy of the GitHub semicolon vulnerability.- Why microservice communication breakdowns lead to critical RCEs.- The massive difference in impact between GitHub.com and GitHub Enterprise Server.- Why Enterprise users need to patch their instances immediately.Resources:- Learn more about the findings at: https://www.wiz.io/blog/github-rce-vulnerability-cve-2026-3854
