Welcome back to the Cup of Courage podcast. Today's episode is all about friendship. I invited a very special friend of mine on the podcast today to answer all the questions around friendship including: 1.) How our friendships have evolved from our teens & twenties to today. 2.) What it means to be a friend? 3.) Why we need friendships? If you want to read even more about friendships, I recommend Amy Weatherly & Jess Johnston's book called "I'll be there, but I'll be wearing sweatpants. According to Jeffery Hall, a communications professor, found that it takes 94 hours to make a casual friend? 164 hours to become a friend and over 200 hours to become a close friend. Leisurely time spent together is especially important. In the book Jess states "we can have 1 billion people admire us but that will never feel the same as having even just one person truly love us." We deeply need friendships in our lives in fact there was this study done about the power of friendships and the truth is that friendship is the best predictor of happiness and health in life. This becomes especially true the older we get. They found that investing in friendships that make us happy can improve your overall health. ***This is an adult conversation. Please listen to this at a time where small ears are not around to hear.*** Welcome back to the Cup of Courage podcast. This episode is called Relationships on 3...1,2,3 relationships! I am so excited for this conversation today with Kameran. Did you know it takes couples around 6 years of dealing with relationship problems before they begin to seek help? There are so many things that you could do to improve the relationship before it hits rock bottom. We cover a multitude of topics today including: 1.) What exactly is a life & relationship coach? 2.) The difference between a coach & a counselor. 3.) The top 4 breakdowns in a relationship. *Childcare & Housework (Who is doing what? Men spend on average 8 hours doing household duties while women spend 18 hours regardless of whether they work outside of the home or not). *Sex (Men have the connection during sex. Women must have the connection before sex. *Emotional Connection (Open ended questions. How can I support you?) *Money (Usually there is a saver & a spender in a relationship). 4.) Karmeran's favorite success story. This one will give you chills! Welcome back to the Cup of Courage podcast. I'm so glad to have you back for season 2. On this episode, I identify signs of burnout, tools that can help you get through the burnout cycle and different areas of your life where burnout could exist. Burnout can show up in all areas of our life where we feel emotionally exhausted, lack motivation, decreased productivity, self-doubt, and or feelings of loneliness or detachment. In this episode, I cover various areas of life where burnout could show up including professional work, home life, hobbies, volunteer work, friendships, and extra curricular activities. Sometimes we all need to re-charge, re-calibrate, re-evaluate, and re-member why we started something in the first place. Get comfortable, lean in and get ready to turn your burnout into the most beautiful re-building you have every seen. Because sometimes we have to fall before we can rise. Welcome back to the Cup of Courage Podcast. This is episode #22. You loved having Jason on the podcast so we thought we could bring him back this week to talk about youth sports. Jason has 15 years of coaching experience as well as being a parent to young kids who are starting to get involved in the world of organized sports. We talk about the appropriate age to start sports, select sports, school sports, burnout and playing multiple sports. We talk about these from a coaches perspective and a parent perspective. Last, we tackle your questions. This episode was awesome and I think anyone who listens will get a lot of insight out of this one. *This episode is sponsored by Deric Blaha of Country Financial. We are total opposites but you know what happens when opposites meet; they attract. In this episode we discuss what it's like being married to each other. Next, we talk about our strengths and weaknesses as a couple and last we get to the hot seat called "Ask Jason anything." We had an overwhelming response from listeners that wanted to know it all. Welcome back!! On this week's episode of the Cup of Courage Podcast, I am talking about breastfeeding and bottle feeding. Last week was national breastfeeding week and I thought it would be fun to discuss the two experiences I had with it. I had two opposite experiences and I am better for having both. One was a struggle and one was a triumph. One was pain and one was joy. By having both, I saw two sides to the story. I can sympathize and understand with women who struggle with this "natural" experience. I can also celebrate and cheer on the mamas who breastfeed so well. Experience combined with perspective is a powerful insight. On this week's episode of the Cup of Courage Podcast, I dive into the importance of starting before you are ready. There are an abundance of things I have done in my life before I was ready. If I would have waited until I was ready, I would have never done them. We don't have to have it all figured out to begin. We need an idea and where we are headed and a road map of how we plan on getting there.
