Everyone is talking about virtual power plants, but as I discuss with EnergyHub CEO Seth Frader-Thompson, not all VPPs are created equal. We get nerdy on the various stages of VPP maturity and the specific technical requirements that VPPs must meet to truly compete with conventional power plants rather than just acting as “enhanced demand response.” This is a public episode. Before we start, we just wanted to say how shocked and saddened we all are by the news of Rob Reiner's death. Sonny wrote an obit here; if you'd like, the chat is open for subscribers to discuss here. The news broke literally as we were taping this, so we couldn't work it into this week's episode, but we plan on taping an extra podcast at some point this week to discuss his life and legacy. Stay tuned for that. --- We're trying something new with this week's episode: We have a special guest for cons and nons! The Entertainment Strategy Guy is here to break down what he loves and what he hates about the pending Netflix-WB deal. It makes sense for Netflix … but is it good for the industry as a whole? We break it down for your today. And then Peter, Alyssa, and Sonny break down the latest Benoit Blanc adventure: Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery. Yes, it's a murder-mystery, but it feels as though Rian Johnson is finally trying to do something a little deeper than settle petty political grievances. Make sure to swing by Thursday for our bonus episode on ensemble movies. And stay safe out there. It was a weird weekend.

Leave us a messageFear is a complex problem. It has multiple causes, can be easily "installed" and is notoriously difficult to resolve. It can regress without warning even after extensive work and may never be fully "fixed".In the past the training environment hasn't always done what is best for fearful dogs. But there is hope both for the dogs who are faced with a world they find difficult to navigate and the people supporting them. So this week we're going to talk more about what causes fear, the misconceptions and myths surrounding it and how to best help our four legged friends to overcome it.Thank you for listening to The Sociable Dog Pod. Adult ADHD is not new and often goes untreated especially in girls and women until much later in life, if ever. Christina Crowe joins us for a conversation to unpack Neurodiversity in all its forms and the range of differences in individual brain function and behavioral traits. Christina is a registered Psychotherapist and Valid Clinical Supervisor (OAMHP), she hosts the Christina Crowe podcast: Making the Invisible Visible and is the owner of Dig a Little Deeper, Psychotherapy and Counselling which is a modern mental health group practice with over 20 associate mental health professionals, including psychiatric nurse practitioners and graduate interns, dedicated to bringing seamless multi-model mental health care to Ontario, Canada. In this conversation, Christina emphasizes the need to create a supportive work environment where individuals can succeed and leverage their natural strengths, whether one should disclose whether they have ADHD, and what might be the impact both positive and negative. She decided for herself that it would be in her best interest to disclose especially after spending 20 years in pharma and not realizing why she would get so bored or distracted once she had launched a product. As she began to understand what was happening to her, it enabled her to work within her strengths and design her work to keep her more fully engaged. She discusses how ADHD affects individuals differently, it's not a one-size-fits-all all, including the balance between impulsivity and creativity. There is a stigma often associated with ADHD and it's important to have the awareness of what is going on and how to leverage your strengths and to do that faster, especially with your work colleagues. We also get into how women might experience shame, a sense of judgment, and how to make sense of what is happening. There are many people who navigate different neurodiverse issues and it is important to find the support you need to best navigate. If you or a loved one is struggling with ADHD and seeking support, ask questions and be sure to find the proper help that specializes in what you might be dealing with. Christina offers a lot of free resources on her website at digalittledeeper.ca to educate those interested in learning more. I know the information she shared with me about what adults, girls, and women might experience was super helpful in supporting my own family.
