Feel like a narcissist magnet?  If you keep dating narcissists, attracting narcissists, or you keep repeating narcissistic relationship patterns, there's a reason, and it has everything to do with something no one is telling you. The truth is, narcissistic relationships take hold when you sideline your own needs and shrink your self-worth. Hilary breaks down the traits that make women vulnerable to toxic relationships with narcissistic men: people-pleasing, conflict avoidance, craving attention, chasing validation, overgiving as a way to feel valuable. These habits create the perfect entry point for a narcissist!  This isn't about blaming you; it's to finally see the role you play so you can stop repeating it. This episode gives you a path to break the cycle of attracting narcissists for good. What shifts when you trust yourself again? How different would dating feel with real boundaries instead of fear? Hilary shows you how self-loyalty becomes the filter that keeps narcissistic partners out of your life and pulls you back into your own power. Episode Highlights: Why you keep attracting narcissists The patterns that pull you into toxic relationships How people-pleasing kills your boundaries The magnet traits narcissistic partners chase What healing after narcissistic abuse really requires The mindset shift that ends the cycle for good Episode Breakdown: 00:00 Understanding the Attraction to Narcissists 03:12 The Impact of Narcissistic Relationships 06:03 Shifting the Focus: From Narcissists to Self-Reflection 08:55 Identifying and Flipping Magnet Traits 11:48 Healing and Moving Forward Ready to stop attracting narcissists and start choosing real love? Leigh Ann and returning guest Carol Look discuss the transformative power of gratitude and EFT tapping, exploring how these practices can enhance emotional well-being. They delve into the skepticism surrounding gratitude, the importance of embodying it rather than merely intellectualizing it, and the dangers of toxic positivity. The conversation highlights the significance of acknowledging pain before embracing gratitude, understanding self-sabotage in happiness, and the dysregulation that can accompany joy. They emphasize the need for daily practices to build resilience and navigate emotional triggers, ultimately advocating for a compassionate approach to personal growth and emotional health.Product Discount Codes + Links2025 Holistic Holiday Gift Guide: HereHerbal Face Food: Website (Discount Code: LAL30)The Fullest: Website (discount code: LEIGH15)Healing Alchemy Membership: Learn MoreEpisode LinksYes, Thank You PortalCarol's New Book: Yes, Thank YouGuest InfoCarol Look - WebsiteCarol Look - InstagramRelated EpisodesPodcast Ep. 178: Sheri Salata - Creating a Life of Joy and AuthenticityPodcast Ep. 168: Jonny Miller - Finding Balance: The Art of Emotional and Nervous System RegulationPodcast Ep. 155: Aline LaPierre - Connecting Mind, Body, and Emotion with NeuroAffective TouchWork w/Leigh AnnLearn: What is EVOX Therapy?Book: Schedule a Session or FREE Discovery CallMembership: What is The Healing Alchemy MembershipConnect w/Me & Learn MoreWebsiteInstagramTiktokYoutube

Here's a podcast episode description optimized for podcast platforms and Todd's brand voice:Episode Title: How to Stop Bickering: The Real Problem Isn't CommunicationShort Description (for podcast apps that limit characters): Constant bickering isn't a communication problem—it's a nervous system problem. After 20+ years working with couples, I share why "just communicate better" is terrible advice and what actually breaks the cycle.Full Description:You know that moment when you realize you've had the same argument for the third time this week? Not even about anything important—just that familiar dance where one person brings something up, the other gets defensive, and within minutes you're both exhausted and further apart than when you started. Here's what nobody tells you: more talking won't fix it. Better communication techniques won't fix it. Because when you're already in reactive mode, your brain literally can't access the parts responsible for empathy and perspective-taking.In this episode, I share the story of Rick and Diane—a couple married 25 years who came to me stuck in what I call the "bicker-escalate-disconnect" loop. They didn't save their marriage by learning to communicate better. They saved it by learning to slow down their nervous systems first. In this episode:Why your brain can't process your partner's perspective when you're defensive (it's neurological, not a character flaw)The speed problem that keeps couples stuck in the same argumentsWhat's actually happening underneath the bickering (spoiler: it's not about the dishes)Why disconnection feels easier—and why that's the biggest trapThe one skill that actually breaks the cycle (and it's not what you think)How Rick and Diane reconnected without needing to talk more, solve more, or explain moreIf you're exhausted from the same fights and wondering if there's a way out, this episode will show you where to actually start. Hint: it's not with better words—it's with a calmer nervous system.Resources mentioned:

If you've ever started writing your book, felt excited, motivated, even called… and then life happened, momentum vanished, and guilt took over—this episode will breathe fresh hope into your calling. Shelley Hitz shares why starting and stopping is not a sign you've failed, fallen behind, or missed your assignment. Instead, it's a signal that you simply didn't have the right support system in place. You'll hear real stories from Christian writers who stalled for months—or even years—before finally finishing their books with clarity, confidence, and consistency. Shelley unpacks the shift that helped them move from "I'll try again someday" to holding a published book in their hands. You'll learn: Why your past attempts don't disqualify you The hidden reason most writers can't sustain momentum What changes when you stop writing alone How a simple 15‑minute rhythm can transform your writing life The structure and spiritual support that make finishing inevitable If God has placed a message on your heart, it's not too late. Your calling didn't expire just because your progress stalled. Take a step of faith and finally finish your book. Join Christian Book Academy: https://christianbookacademy.com/

Synopsis:  The directors of CYCLE invite viewers to confront the eerie stillness that follows many cases of police brutality, where no footage, public pressure, or accountability exist, and instead, inspire collective change. This show is made possible by you! To become a sustaining member go to LauraFlanders.org/donateDescription: Would we know from our media that over 1,000 people are killed by police every year in the U.S.? The stories of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor are exceptions, but for the victims we don't hear about, there's CYCLE. The newly-released investigative feature documentary from LionArt Media focuses on the 2019 killing of Ty'rese West, an 18-year-old Black teenager from Racine, Wisconsin who was shot to death after being pulled over by a Mount Pleasant police officer for riding a bicycle with no headlights. No videos were taken, the details of West's death were withheld from the community and the subsequent police report. Made in close collaboration with West's mother, Monique West, the film follows the story of Ty'rese's death and the lawsuit that ensued.  CYCLE is an invitation, “. . . to interrupt the silence that follows so many cases that never go viral — cases where there's no footage, no public pressure, and no accountability,” say director Laura Dyan Kezman and co-director William Howell, both Racine natives. Dyan Kezman is an award-winning director, DP, and editor, and the founder of LionArt Media committed to telling bold, socially driven stories that examine justice, culture, and civic engagement. Howell is a cinematographer, editor, and director based in Milwaukee. He was the cinematographer of ‘The Rise and Fall of Coo Coo Cal' and the director of the 2020 film ‘You Don't Know Me'. Join the CYCLE directors and Laura Flanders for this powerful conversation on police accountability and community action, plus a commentary on the media quiet about Trump's massive military build-up in the Caribbean.“. . . We started this film in 2019 with the intention of not making an angry film, but we didn't quite know what the film needed to be yet. Then COVID hit, Ahmaud Arbery was killed, and then Breonna Taylor was killed, and then George Floyd was killed . . . We felt it then, that this was something so much bigger than us in terms of us telling Tyrese's story in that moment.” - Laura Dyan Kezman“The call to action, that's when I see, more than anything, that we achieved our goal. People are not leaving these theaters angry . . . They're leaving and saying, what can we do? What can I do? What can we do together as people to help create this change?” - William HowellGuests:• William Howell: Co-Director & Producer, CYCLE• Laura Dyan Kezman: Director, Editor & Producer, CYCLEFull Conversation Release: While our weekly shows are edited to time for broadcast on Public TV and community radio, we offer to our members and podcast subscribers the full uncut conversation. Are you loving it? Send Ash a text! Even after I slowed down, healed, lost 40 pounds, and felt like a brand-new human, the old patterns still tiptoed back in. Not the dramatic face-down-on-the-floor kind of burnout, just the sneaky version that makes you pause and say, “Oh, interesting… you again?” It was enough to make me curious. This part-two debrief is me pulling back the curtain on why urgency creeps in even after rest, how cortisol becomes our go-to fuel source, and the small, doable resets that actually change the pattern without blowing up your entire life. Think of it as the gentle, real-life guide to breaking the burnout cycle… and all the tiny daily shifts that we all need.TOPICS & TANGENTS:• When old patterns creep back after rest • Cortisol addiction and why stress starts to feel like energy • How “busy” becomes an identity we get praised for • Childhood wiring: control, chaos, and early responsibility • Relational fawning: regulating everyone but yourself • The urgency we learn young (and why I still watch our mornings) • Tiny resets that help: the 90-second nothing timer, sense grounding, and vagus-nerve hums • Values vs. ideals: hearing your life tell the truth • The Somatic Wealth Framework: Regulate, Reflect, RewirePOINT OF THE STORY:You can't out-sabbatical a nervous system pattern. Hi everyone! Today we're exploring the connection between ADHD and bullying. Research consistently shows that children with ADHD are more vulnerable to bullying than their neurotypical peers. For instance, a study utilizing data from the National Survey of Children's Health found that 47% of children with ADHD reported being victims of bullying, more than double the prevalence in the general population PMC.This increased susceptibility isn't just a childhood issue—it extends into adolescence and adulthood, affecting self-esteem and mental health. Adolescents with ADHD who experience bullying are at a significantly higher risk for anxiety and depression compared to their peers without ADHD. My guest today, Brooke Schnittman, knows this firsthand. Brooke is an ADHD coach, speaker, and host of the podcast, Successful with ADHD. She works to help adults turn their challenges into strengths. In our conversation, she shares her own story of being bullied from childhood into adulthood, how it shaped her understanding of ADHD, and what helped her begin to rebuild a sense of self-worth.This episode isn't just about surviving bullying - it's about understanding how those experiences shape the brain and the stories we tell ourselves, and how healing becomes possible through awareness, coaching, and connection. I also share some additional strategies - both for parents and adults - that can help build proactive protection and resilience in environments where bullying or exclusion might occur. I hope you enjoy! Here are the show notes: Learn More About Brookehttps://www.coachingwithbrooke.com/about-brookeSuccessfull with ADHD Podcasthttps://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/successfull-with-adhd/id1674069554Bullying: What Parents and Teachers of Children with ADHD Need to Knowhttps://chadd.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/ATTN_06_12_Bullying.pdfBullying Resource Centerhttps://www.aacap.org/aacap/Families_and_Youth/Resource_Centers/Bullying_Resource_Center/Home.aspxHow to Demobilize a Bully in 5 Stepshttps://www.additudemag.com/stop-bullying-adhd-upstander/?srsltid=AfmBOoozI6FRhewOLn8ICHuypgxNjYuz4icT8UfTDNIPcYINmIxqmwt3Put Down the Stick, Pick Up a Feather: Adult ADHD & Self-Criticismhttps://chadd.org/attention-article/put-down-the-stick-pick-up-a-feather-adult-adhd-self-criticism/Learn More About Our MAP Programhttps://map.worksmartcoaching.comLearn More About 1:1 Coachinghttps://www.beyondbooksmart.com/how-it-worksGet in Touchpodcast@beyondbooksmart.comInstagram/Facebook/Tiktok: @beyondbooksmartcoachingwww.beyondbooksmart.com

Summary In this episode, Ali Damron explores the intricate relationship between stress, repressed emotions, and the nervous system. She discusses how stress manifests in our bodies and minds, the impact of childhood experiences on emotional development, and the importance of radical acceptance in managing anxiety. The conversation emphasizes the need to recognize and process emotions rather than suppress them, highlighting the role of coping mechanisms and the significance of teaching our brains to feel safe. Ali encourages listeners to engage with their emotions and live their lives despite the presence of anxiety and stress. Takeaways Life is inherently stressful, affecting various aspects of our lives. Stress can lead to hormonal imbalances and various health issues. Managing stress is often oversimplified; we need deeper strategies. Repressed emotions can keep us stuck in anxiety. The nervous system interprets suppressed emotions as danger. Childhood experiences shape our emotional responses and coping mechanisms. Coping strategies often involve avoidance behaviors. Radical acceptance helps in acknowledging and processing emotions. Teaching the brain that it is safe to feel is crucial for healing. Engaging with life despite anxiety can promote emotional safety. This charge will shift the trajectory of those who carry it out!Send this to brothers and sisters in Christ to join you in breaking through as a part of the JOY Army for this charge. We will do 30 for 30 together, from October 1st-31st. Listen to the episode for details. We want to hear (and share) your testimonies on what the Lord does during this 30 day window. We will keep them anonymous. Write in to jesusoveryourelf@gmail.com using the subject "30 for 30".Join us on IGGet JOY emailsSow into this kingdom work

125. Fear of Failure Is Sabotaging Your Coaching Business: Break the Cycle & Take Action

We've been watching talented, capable financial coaches hold themselves back from doing their best work, and it has nothing to do with skills or caring. They'll create a freebie but never really put it out there. Someone asks about their coaching, but they don't follow up. They get invited to present at a workshop but decide “now's not the right time.”It's not that they don't want the results on the other side. It's not that they're not capable, even if it feels a little scary. So why aren't they taking action on the things they say they want to do?What we're seeing is a fear of failure epidemic that's showing up in ways that might surprise you. It's creating this cycle where people avoid taking meaningful action because they're terrified of not getting it right. But we live in a world where everything feels permanent and public. Social media makes it so your mistakes can follow you forever. There's this pressure to have everything figured out before you even start, which creates paralyzing perfectionism where people would rather do nothing than risk doing something imperfectly. And our environment makes it easier than ever to avoid the challenging work that creates real results. When something feels hard, there's always an easier alternative just a swipe away. You can spend hours watching videos about marketing strategies without ever implementing a marketing strategy, which tricks you into feeling like you're working but leaves you confused about why you're not getting results. The irony? You're listening to this podcast right now, learning instead of doing. And that's exactly the trap. But what if instead of quietly shrinking away and not doing the thing you said you wanted to do, you committed to what we're calling “loud failure”? What if you decided that if you're going to fail either way, you'd rather fail by actually putting yourself out there?Because wouldn't it be cool if being okay with loud failure meant you were doing the hard things—talking more, presenting more, offering to help people more—and maybe, just maybe, those things would actually make you successful?Links & Resources:Join the MastermindUltimate Growth GuideJoin the Facebook groupKey Takeaways:You'd rather spend three days writing the perfect email sequence than three hours making phone calls, because one feels safe and the other doesn't. But only one actually gets you closer to new clients.“Good enough to move on” is your new standard, not perfection. Embrace it instead of staying stuck in endless revision cycles. If you're going to fail either way, fail loudly by putting yourself out there rather than quietly shrinking away and creating the very failure you're trying to avoid.Productive procrastination keeps you busy with tasks that feel important but don't move your business forward, like researching every certification instead of just starting to help people.Choose one source of business education and stick with it for a month. Consuming information from multiple sources creates overwhelm and imposter syndrome, not progress.Discomfort is a sign of growth, not a warning to stop. Learn to dance with your fear instead of running from it.Break big goals into smaller actions: instead of “make $100,000 this year,” commit to “have 5 Q&A calls this week.” The smaller step is what actually gets you there.
