Tune into my podcast to hear me talk about all things college football related.
Today I debunk some of the myths that are currently floating around. Most notably that Oklahoma and the BIG12 are out of the playoff race. I also talk about some teams that have completely quit on the season.
We need to stop judging teams on different levels based on "who they are" and judge everyone on the same criteria based on how the season is going and how teams are performing.
The CFP rankings were just released. I don't have a problem with where Cincinnati is ranked. The committee seems to honor head to head which is good to see although there is some flaw and inconsistencies with that. Alabama being number 2 is a problem for me and I have some conspiracy theories about it..
The AP poll does not make any sense right now. Will the CFP get it right when they release their first rankings tomorrow night?
We dive into all the big matchups from this coming week and talk about what is truly at stake for each team involved. It's a lot more scary for some teams than others.
The focus of who might make the college football playoff is running the fun in following conference championship races in conferences that might not have a playoff contender left. Week 9 had some upsets so what does that mean for those teams going forward? Should Alabama be ranked 3rd?
Washington State fired head coach Nick Rolovich for refusing to comply with the states covid 19 vaccine mandate. The media coverage is hypocritical given how it has covered these situations in the past. The Tennessee Ole Miss game got crazy and there is no excuse but what really caused the fans frustration? Can anything be done about players faking injuries on defense or is this just a part of the game now? No big "sexy" matchups this week but that is when chaos tends to happen..
Ed Orgeron is officially out at LSU. What does that mean about the coaching search going forward and who will emerge as the top candidate? Iowa loses and deservingly drops in the rankings but why is Alabama still so high up there with a similar level loss? Is that fair? Why are the rankings done with so much pre built opinion about teams? All the conference races in the power 5 are shaping up to be very exciting.
USC is already vacant and most people expect LSU to become open at some point this year as well. Which is the better job and what are some of the top candidates? How we talk about teams all year matters a lot but should it? Crazy playoff scenarios and more!!
Alabama goes down to Texas A&M and the field is now wide open. A lot of teams control their own destiny when it comes to the playoff. Georgia should be #1 but they are a lot closer to the rest of the pac than a lot of people think. The way most do rankings doesn't make any sense..We could easily have a two BIGTEN team playoff scenario.
After last week it really appears to be Alabama and Georgia. We already see the media pumping the idea of both teams making the playoff especially if they meet in the SEC title game undefeated. We will discuss why that might not be a guarantee considering what could happen with the rest of the field. This upcoming week will be another separation type Saturday with some big time games.
This season is shaping up to be a really interesting one. This week we will learn a lot about what teams are really made of. We also discus the delays in the playoff expansion talks and what could be causing it. The BIG-12 and the Rose Bowl need to accept reality for this to work.
It looks like we have a lot of parody across college football at the top and the bottom. Does Alabama look beatable?? A lot of teams are alive for the playoff.
We start with the breaking news out of USC that Clay Helton has been fired as head coach. How could this change the future of the college football landscape and who are the potential coaching candidates?? Week 2 was pretty crazy and the SEC shows its dominance once again.
College football is back and week 1 did not disappoint. what does the big picture look like so far? Can anyone compete with Alabama this year? Is the ACC really in trouble? Does the BIGTEN look like the best conference so far? We really don't know anything yet but it's always fun to over react. We are finally days away from the kickoff of week 1. I discuss a little about Nebraska after another disappointing season opener for Scott Frost. We get a little into some of the intriguing week 1 matchups as well as discuss the overall landscape of college football going into the season and what teams have a chance to enter the tier of the elites.
"The Alliance" looks to be nothing of importance. But could it actually have big implications on what happens to the future of the expanded CFB playoff formant? Email the show! letstalkcollegefootball@gamil.com Follow me on Twitter! @michael_K87
I am back! With so much news and changes coming in this offseason the first topic I dive into is the craziness surrounding all of the recent conference realignment. Starting with Texas and Oklahoma's decisions to leave the BIG12 in 2025 and join the SEC. The reactions from the BIG-12 and the rest of the college football world especially the remaining power 5 conferences and their potential moves. Could we have an ACC, BIGTEN, & PAC-12 alliance coming??
