Today, two of Jeff's fav chumps, Patrik & Pol, stop by to discuss exactly what led to the chump's termination, how Jeff really feels about this firing, how the other chumps have reacted behind the scenes, whether this is permanent or temporary and the tumultuous aftermath in JLL chumpville all while filming his new Bravo TV show appropriately titled, no pun intended, “Still Flipping Out”. This week, Hannah and Barbi record from their brand-new home studio - and the episode feels just as lively as the setup. They chat about heart straws and fun drinks they've been making, delicious recipes Mom whipped up, and HB's ongoing potty-training adventures (including what he didn't do on the wall… but really wanted to).Things take a dramatic turn when the oven malfunctions and literally melts its own handle off - a genuinely scary moment that had everyone on edge. Mom also bravely tattles on herself about a few almost-Karen moments, and they unpack some stress-filled Dollar Store run-ins involving E-bike kids. It's a classic, full-of-life episode: a little chaotic, a lot funny, and very real - just two women navigating family life, household surprises, and the everyday moments that somehow turn into the best stories.
Running a dental practice can feel like an endless cycle of putting out fires, reacting to problems, and repeating the same frustrations day after day. In this episode, Kirk Behrendt sits down with Christina Burn, Director of Operations at ACT Dental, to explain why most of these daily issues stem from a lack of clear systems, not people. Together, they break down how systems create predictability, reduce stress, improve team accountability, and support long-term growth. You'll learn where to start with systems, how to build them with your team, and how to keep them relevant as your practice evolves. To learn how to stop firefighting and start creating predictability, listen to Episode 1007 of The Best Practices Show!Main Takeaways:Most recurring daily problems in a dental practice are caused by missing or unclear systems rather than individual team performance.Systems create predictability, which leads to less stress, better patient experiences, and more consistent outcomes for doctors and teams.Practices should aim to be systems-driven instead of people-dependent to avoid burnout and constant staff additions.Effective systems start with a clearly defined “why” that connects directly to patient experience and team success. The best systems are created collaboratively during dedicated team meeting time, not by the doctor alone or outside of work hours.Systems should be specific, step-by-step, and written clearly so anyone in the practice can follow them when needed.Systems must be treated as living tools that are reviewed, updated, and improved as the practice grows and changes.Snippets:00:00 Introduction and Welcome00:08 The Importance of Systems in Dentistry01:28 Meet Christina Burn: Director of Operations02:30 Common Issues in Dental Practices03:23 Creating Effective Systems05:52 The Why Behind Systems09:58 Implementing and Refining Systems13:22 The 80% Approach to System Development16:02 Specificity in Systems20:32 Living Systems: Continuous Improvement25:11 Conclusion and Final ThoughtsGuest Bio/Guest Resources:Christina Byrne is the Director of Operations at ACT Dental, where she oversees coaching alignment, system development, and operational consistency across practices nationwide. Welcome to another fire fundamentals episode! Today we dig into how to place a fire in a model so results reflect real physics. From plume inputs to FDS burners, we show where HRRPUA, radiative fraction, and D* make or break smoke your calculations. Things considered in this episode:• why defining the design HRR is separate from placing the source• what a flame is and why we cannot resolve its chemistry• plume models compared by inputs: perimeter, Q, Qc• entrainment, virtual origin, and effective diameter• realistic HRRPUA ranges for building-scale fires• radiative vs convective fractions and why they matter• zone model linkage to plumes for smoke control• volumetric smoke and heat sources for CFD: volume, placement, and limits• fuel-based fires in CFD and oxygen constraints• growth modeling via area expansion vs flux ramping• soot yields, heat of combustion, and visibility• D* and meshing guidance for credible resolution• why predictive fire spread modelling for design use does not really exist...Resources, resources!G. Next week, I am in Paris. And I have the privledge to document the session on "Rethinking The WIne Business." Two of the prominent panel members are Paul Mabray and Priscilla Hennekam. There is a movement in the trade to mix things up a bit; make some changes, move the needle a bit. Paul Mabray is considered the pre-eminent authority of all things digital wine. Platforms, logistics, user-experience and more, all play into the realm of Paul's knowledge base. I have to tell you, having Paul Mabray on the show was a breath of fresh air—no other way to describe it. He's got this knack for slicing through the clutter and getting to the heart of what's happening in the wine world today. You know me, I love a good anecdote and an insightful thought, and he delivered plenty. Right out of the gate, Paul Mabray hit us with a beautiful metaphor: a glass of wine is a time capsule, a space-time machine connecting you to France ten years ago, or some other corner of the world and moment in history. I was hooked! That's what keeps me coming back to these conversations—a guest who sees past the label and into the soul of wine itself. We started the episode in my studio in Monroeville, California, broadcasting all the way to Napa. Paul Mabray—and, yes, for the record, both our names being Paul made the "Paul Squared" jokes inevitable—has worn many hats: club manager, consultant, software innovator, and digital pioneer. I reminisced about the early days of my own family's Wine of the Month Club: carbon paper, binders stuffed with customer cards, and handwritten manifests. He nodded knowingly, recalling his own journey at Niebaum Coppola, and the story about hiring Rob Crumb to write Access for Dummies so they could process wine club memberships in 72 hours instead of weeks! That story, I thought, is the kind of practical innovation the wine business desperately needed. As I listened to Paul Mabray, it occurred to me how much the industry has changed. The old guard—wholesalers, lobbyists—used to make it nearly impossible to ship direct to consumers. Back then, you practically had to sneak into the Wholesalers Association. He reminded me how those lobbying efforts were already fracturing in the mid-2000s, and with COVID, things are accelerating. Consumers are getting what they want, regulations be damned. That's insight you only get from someone who's lived both the analog and digital sides of the game. We also dove into software innovation—my old-school, "clunky but functional" database meets his experience launching e-commerce solutions like Wine Direct back in 2002. He had me laughing with stories of credit card gateways thinking a massive wine club was a puppy mill for stolen cards. The way he explained the evolution from manual systems to omnichannel cloud solutions made me realize: in the wine business, technology is about scaling human connection, not replacing it. A favorite moment in our conversation was when we discussed the fragility of relying on the tasting room model. Fires, earthquakes, and COVID have hammered the point home—it's time to reach consumers in Boston, Austin, Anchorage, wherever they are. It's about connection. That's tough for the "gentleman farmers" who often own wineries now, but it's necessary. Paul Mabray sees the golden age of wine online coming, and I'm inclined to agree. If you want a snapshot of the state and future of wine, these are the conversations to listen to. Technology, branding, regulation, and, of course, the existential experience of sharing a bottle—wine, Paul Mabray reminds us, is a social time capsule. He left me thinking that the business side, the digital side, and the soul of wine are all lining up for a renaissance. And that's a story worth sharing.

Woody Johnson is painted as increasingly hands on, confidence in Aaron Glenn continues to erode, and fans openly wonder if there is any path to credibility without a complete reset or a powerful buffer between ownership and football operations. The hour also features a classic Posted & Toasted segment that dredges up old takes, cold tweets, and station personalities getting exposed, followed by a full blown showdown involving Aaron Boone. Boone fires back at criticism over how the New York Yankees handled Jasson Domínguez, prompting a deep dive into the actual numbers that turns anecdotal frustration into hard evidence. Add in raw Jets fan calls, season ticket soul searching at MetLife Stadium, and the growing sense that one franchise is moving forward while the other is stuck arguing with itself.

Even police chiefs in Minnesota are calling out ICE tactics as race-based and out of line. This week, Alex focuses on what comes next — from conditions at ICE detention centers, to the long-term impacts this lawless use of force will have on communities. First Alex speaks to David Wilson, an immigration attorney in Minneapolis about the horrible treatment and lack of medical care his clients are facing. Then she's joined by MS NOW Political and National Correspondent, Jacob Soboroff, to talk about what he's seeing on the ground in Minneapolis, how Trump 2.0 immigration enforcement compares to the family separation policy he covered during the first term, and his new book “Firestorm: The Great Los Angeles Fires and America's New Age of Disaster”.
