How Stress in Relationships Can Impact Your Health

Play Episode Listen Later Sep 6, 2019 28:20

We have all kinds of relationships: business, romantic, friendship. Would you ever think that your gut can be affected by your experience with others?  I'm here to tell you that it can.   Consider the experience of one of my clients, who was reluctant to meet with a woman his friends thought would be a good match for him. He had so much anxiety over the date and meeting her expectations, that he wound up getting gout as a result of all that stress.  When he cancelled the date, within 36 hours his gout went away...all by itself! Which shows how connected our physical body is to our emotional body. The good news is there are techniques available to help you cope with life's pressures and get through whatever is stressing you in the moment. Your gut plays a very big role here.     It works like this: Our brain produces a chemical that alerts our senses to input. Depending on what that input is, the responding emotion could be joy, anxiety, or simply a feeling of neutrality.  If this emotion is stress, our adrenal glands produce a stress hormone called cortisol. Excessive production of cortisol can lead to adrenal fatigue syndrome, producing things like belly fat, brain fog, and sometimes worse.  It all lands in your gut.
If you are under stress, I'd love to talk to you about how we can work together to improve your gut health so you can not only feel physically better, but make the important mindshifts necessary to stay that way.  To combat stress before it impacts your physical health and help you have better, calmer, more peaceful relationships with others.  Click here to schedule a complementary session with me.   Which brings me to my guest for this episode of the podcast. Jill Sherer Murray specializes in helping people let go of what's keeping them stuck and where they just don't want to be. Her TEDx talk called  “The Unstoppable Power of Letting Go” has been viewed by almost 1.5 million people. (You can watch it and learn more about her at www.letgoforit.com.)   We had a powerful conversation about how she let go of a long-term relationship that was sending her down the path of adrenal fatigue, which leads to weight gain, brain fog, interrupted sleep, increased anxiety and more. She explains the connection between the importance of letting go and the gut, good health, love, and more. You'll really want to hear this episode!    Once you've listened, I'd love to know what you think. Please reach out to me so we can set up a complimentary call to discuss where you are and how we can work together to support you in managing the stressful relationships in your life without it affecting your health.    We love hearing your feedback. Send us a reply and let us know what you thought of the episode!   P.S. So excited that my book, the Health, Wealth, and Happiness Journal, is now on Amazon! I am so grateful to be able to share this book with you. I hope you enjoy it.    Much Love, Diana.
