How can homeopathy enable you to reach a higher state of being? Join us for our newest episode, where Alize will share her distinct perspective on homeopathy along with her broad understanding of both new remedies and trituration principles. In this friendly episode of Homeopathy 247, Mary chats with homeopath Morris Tuffery about the powerful and essential remedy, Staphysagria. Morris, joining all the way from New Zealand, analyzes how this remedy addresses deep-seated issues stemming from suppressed anger and emotional pain, often acting as a profound starting point for healing. Homeopathy's Strong Roots in New Zealand Morris begins by discussing the practice of homoeopathy in New Zealand. While its origins were grassroots—brought over by English settlers in the 1900s—it has gained professional status thanks to mentors like Bruce Barwell. It is now well-regulated under the New Zealand Homeopathic Council, with approximately 80 registered homeopaths adhering to mandatory professional development. Morris stresses that a major part of his work involves public education to increase awareness and encourage the use of homeopathy for home first aid. Understanding the "Staphysagria" Type: Anger Swallowed The core theme of Staphysagria is the profound effect of anger and humiliation that cannot be expressed. Suppressed Emotion: The remedy is indicated when a person has been subjected to abuse (sexual, physical, or emotional), bullying, or intense humiliation (like being unjustly fired). Because the person is unable to retaliate or stand up for themselves in the moment, they "swallow the anger." Volcano Under the Tablecloth: This type is famously described as a "volcano under a Laura Ashley tablecloth." They are often seen as the nicest people or "ultimate caregivers" who put others' needs first, but internally, they are seething with suppressed rage. A small provocation can sometimes cause a sudden, passionate burst of anger. Lack of Confidence: The long-term suppression of anger leads to feelings of unworthiness and a lack of confidence, leaving them vulnerable to victimization. A Remedy for Trauma and Physical Intrusion Staphysagria is also highly valuable for physical ailments that relate to the body feeling violated or irritated: Wounds and Surgery: It is a key remedy for healing lacerated and stretched tissue. This makes it ideal for recovering from surgery (which can feel like an intrusion), dental work (especially a strained or dislocated jaw), and a lacerated perineum after childbirth. Inflammation and Irritation: It is a primary remedy for recurrent styes and chalazions (inflamed eyelid nodules) and for colic in children who are fractious and angrily throw things. UTIs: Staphysagria is a major remedy for recurrent Urinary Tract Infections (UTIs), particularly those related to the first experience of sexual intimacy (historically "Honeymoon cystitis"). Morris shares a powerful case where the remedy brought about an immediate return of joy and self-worth to a patient suffering from recurrent UTIs and low self-image following a rape. Understanding LM Potencies (Gradual Healing) Morris and Mary discuss the difference between various homeopathic potencies. For the public, it's important to know that professional homeopaths use methods beyond simple first aid prescribing: LM Potencies: These were the last potencies developed by Hahnemann. They are preferred for long-term chronic conditions because they produce a gradual and permanent improvement without the strong aggravations (healing crises) sometimes seen with high C-potencies. Chronic vs. Acute: While first aid often uses 30C or 200C potencies for quick action, complex, long-standing, or chronic conditions (like the effects of past abuse or chronic fatigue) benefit greatly from the sustained, gentle action of the LM scale. In this Homeopathy 247 episode, host Mary welcomes back Lisa Robbins, who explores the fascinating remedy Mercurius, also known as Merxol, Merc Viv, or Quicksilver. Lisa explains its different names and why it is one of her favourite remedies, describing it as a "human thermometer" – extremely sensitive to every change in the environment. Why Mercurius is Called the Human Thermometer Mercurius is remembered easily because mercury itself is liquid at room temperature and used in thermometers. People who may need this remedy are highly sensitive to shifts in heat, cold, dampness, or drafts. Whatever the condition, they are rarely comfortable. Physical Symptoms and Keynotes Excess saliva – Patients often feel they must spit constantly. Sore throats and mouth infections – Pain may spread to the ear, making swallowing difficult and speech strained. Glands and lymphatic system – Inflammation, swelling, and infection are common. Blood purifier – Helps detoxify the circulatory and lymphatic systems, useful in cases of pus, ulcers, or inflamed tissues. Digestive changes – Alternating diarrhoea and constipation, with a "never done" feeling after bowel movements. Skin issues and children's ailments – Effective for conditions like hand, foot, and mouth disease, quickly soothing mouth sores and blisters. Emotional and Mental Picture Beyond physical complaints, Mercurius has a distinct emotional profile: Irritable and impulsive – Easily upset, strongly adverse to contradiction. Mentally unsettled – Shifts between slowness and inner agitation. Conservative yet conflicted – Desires order but resists routine. Fears – Worries about health, illness, mental decline, darkness, ghosts, and open spaces. Children – Often precocious, sometimes shy, often irritable with low immunity. The famous Mad Hatter from Alice in Wonderland reflects mercury's historic use in hat-making, which caused tremors and mental disturbance in real-life hatters. How Mercurius Compares to Other Remedies Pulsatilla – Also changeable, but gentle, tearful, and seeks comfort. Mercurius – Irritable, fiery, and quick to anger. This contrast helps practitioners choose the correct remedy when symptoms overlap. When to Consider Mercurius Lisa highlights three major clues: Excess saliva Symptoms worse at night and with temperature changes A general sense of instability and irritability She reminds listeners that while it's excellent for acute conditions, chronic use should be guided by a professional homoeopath. This truth resonates at the heart of our ninth installment in the encouragement series, where we explore how commitment and community intertwine to create lasting transformation. Many natural health advocates know the awkward reality of being labeled "weird" or feeling unable to share their homeopathic knowledge in certain circles, particularly within church communities. For years, these worlds remained separate for many practitioners, creating an unnecessary divide. But what if these seemingly different paths actually strengthen each other? The very perseverance required for natural healing journeys mirrors the commitment needed in our spiritual walks. The microwave society we inhabit has eroded our collective patience, yet homeopathy teaches us that true healing comes through consistency and dedication, sometimes without immediate visible results. This lesson transcends physical health, speaking directly to our spiritual growth as well. Hebrews reminds us not to give up meeting together, understanding that we spur one another toward love and good deeds through shared community. Just as the Inner Healing Circle provides support for homeopathy practitioners, our faith communities should serve as pillars of encouragement during both mountaintop experiences and valley seasons.Has finding your tribe changed your healing journey? Join us for this heartfelt conversation about perseverance, unexpected paths, and how community transforms both our approach to health and our spiritual lives. And don't miss our upcoming final episode in this ten-part series, where we'll bring these principles full circle.FIND ME!

Linda Nurra, a certified classical homeopath and flower essence practitioner, joins this episode to share her insights into the world of Bach flower remedies. Growing up in Sardinia, she was mentored by a local herbalist whose influence sparked her lifelong curiosity about natural healing. Linda explains how Dr. Edward Bach developed his remedies using simple methods the sun and boiling techniques, to capture the energetic qualities of flowers in full bloom. She breaks down how these gentle, non-toxic remedies can be safely used by anyone, even alongside homeopathy, to support emotional balance and resilience. We also talk about key remedies like Rescue Remedy and Star of Bethlehem, which Linda often recommends for easing shock, stress, and trauma. A natural teacher at heart, Linda is dedicated to sharing the wisdom of homeopathy and flower essence therapy in ways that inspire, enlighten, and empower others. Her path to healing began nearly three decades ago with an encounter with flower essences, sparking a lifelong exploration of human emotion, consciousness, and the transformative power of nature. This journey eventually led her to homeopathy, where a profound personal experience with a single remedy ignited her full commitment to holistic healing. She went on to earn an advanced practitioner diploma from the School of Homeopathy (UK) and has since trained with leading teachers around the world. With a background in education, curriculum design, and leadership, Linda has served as curriculum director and lead faculty at the Prometheus Homeopathic Institute and has taught at the Los Angeles School of Homeopathy and the Veterinary Homeopathy Institute. She has also published widely and contributed to the homeopathic community as a board member of the California Homeopathic Medical Society. Today, Linda's work focuses on flower essence therapy—a gentle yet powerful complement to homeopathy that supports resilience and self-reliance. She teaches the popular Bach Flower Therapy for Homeopaths certification course, bridging clinical homeopathy with flower essence practice. When she's not teaching or consulting, Linda can be found connecting with the natural world among the oaks, olives, and grapevines of California's Central Coast—her favorite kind of medicine. The government just announced a warning label will be added to Tylenol that use during pregnancy may be associated with an increased risk of Autism and ADHD in children.. In this episode, we talk about:—How the makers of Tylenol admitted in their own internal documents that there is a strong correlation between Tylenol and Autism. —Why Tylenol's interference with the Liver's capability of making Glutathione is the mechanism behind Tylenol contributing to neurological issues. And how a rash on babies after giving them Tylenol after vaccination can be a signal that something has gone wrong with the Liver.—The reason Dr. Prather says that Tylenol causes damage to the Kidneys, Liver, and Gut every time you take it. And the long list of potential harm that Tylenol can cause, including: Liver damage, Kidney damage, G.I. bleeding, Diarrhea, Vomiting, Heart failure, Heart attacks, Hypertension, Undescended testicles, Asthma, and an increased chance of Cancers like Leukemia. —The benefits of Fever to the body and why Dr. Prather says there is "a tremendous amount of really good things that happen with a Fever." And why the approach to just suppress a Fever leads to more problems and worse results.—How Fever is an indication of a Neurology issue and can actually reveal a lot of helpful diagnostic information. And how Chiropractic is the way to deal with Neurological situations, including Fevers.—The chances of seizures from a Fever are not decreased by Tylenol, but Structure-Function Care can help the body avoid seizures by keeping the body in Homeostasis. And how Tylenol is not only dangerous, but research shows it also has very little effectiveness for pain. —The Spleen-21 Acupuncture point that Dr. Prather's staff immediately request treatment on when they start to feel sick. And the "really excellent" Elderberry and Vitamin C syrup that is very easy for children to take when they are ill.—Why Dr. Prather says that Homeopathy is "extremely effective for children" and is always safe. And how it is "the best and safest way to help a child's immune system work better".—The Diathermy treatment Dr. Prather uses in his office to bring immediate relief to crying children with ear infections and "usually clears up the ear discomfort in one session". And the gentle Galbreath maneuver Dr. Prather teaches Moms to do on their babies to promote ear drainage. —How Dr. Prather says that Autism can be reversed and how he has seen "really strong changes in Autism and ADHD". And the methods that Holistic Integration uses, such as Craniosacral Therapy, to reverse the damage from the toxicities that cause Autism.http://www.TheVoiceOfHealthRadio.com

In this episode of Homeopathy 247, Mary is joined by Ciara Corcoran to explore the well-known remedy Bryonia. Often summed up as the “bear with a sore head,” Bryonia is deeply associated with dryness, irritability, and the need to keep still. Ciara explains how these themes appear in both physical and emotional symptoms, making Bryonia a valuable remedy to keep in your home kit. First Impressions of Bryonia When Ciara first learned about Bryonia, she wasn't keen on it. It seemed grumpy, irritable, and hard to relate to. But as she studied it more, she realised how versatile it is. Far from being just an “irritable” remedy, Bryonia has a wide range of uses in acute illness and beyond. Key Physical Clues The hallmark of Bryonia is dryness. This can show up as: Dry coughs Dry fevers Dry mucous membranes Constipation with hard, dry stools Another key sign is the need to stay still. Any movement—whether turning in bed, walking, or even moving the eyes—can make symptoms worse. People needing Bryonia may lie quietly, preferring not to be disturbed. Pain and Pressure A unique feature of Bryonia is that pain often feels better with pressure. Someone with a painful chest cough might hold their ribs tightly, or a person with joint pain may press on the area for relief. This response is an important differentiator when choosing a remedy. Emotional Picture When unwell, Bryonia people want peace and space. They may come across as irritable or even snappy if interrupted. Unlike remedies such as Pulsatilla, which seek comfort and company, Bryonia types often say, “Leave me alone.” On a deeper level, Bryonia can reflect strong fears around financial security and risk-taking. Just as they resist movement physically, emotionally they may resist taking chances in life. Common Uses for Bryonia Headaches: Often bursting, left-sided, worse from movement, and aggravated by coughing. Coughs: Dry, painful, sometimes with the sensation of broken ribs, relieved by holding the chest. Fevers: Typically dry, with intense thirst. Vertigo: A sinking sensation, worse on moving the head. Constipation: Dry, hard stools linked to overall body dryness. Why Keep Bryonia Handy? Ciara explains that Bryonia often helps move people from one stage of illness to the next. It's particularly useful in colds, coughs, flu, and was one of the most used remedies during recent waves of respiratory viruses. Her advice: if you're unsure, remember these three signposts—dryness, irritability, and not wanting to move. In this beautifully grounded episode, I'm joined by one of my original teachers, the brilliant Caroline Gaskin — homeopath, educator, and one of the most inspiring voices in women's health and homeopathy. We talk about how she first discovered homeopathy through her children, the drop-in clinics that made it accessible to everyone, and what 25 years of practice have taught her about health, energy, and trust.Caroline shares stories of real-life cases — from coughs and whooping cough to menopause and chronic fatigue — and explains how she blends Narayani combination remedies, bush flower essences, nutrition, and frequency tools like the Healy in her practice. We also explore: ✨ Why classical and combination prescribing can coexist beautifully ✨ How our environment, soil, and light affect hormonal balance ✨ Simple ways to support the liver and mineral balance naturally ✨ What she'd give the whole of humanity right now (her answer will make you smile)This conversation is full of practical wisdom, gentle humour, and the reminder that healing is never just one thing. It's about energy, integrity, and how we use our attention.More information on Caroline:For Workshops, Webinars & Masterclasses visit hereCaroline's Natural Menopause Worskhop click hereCaroline's Homeopathy Membership visit hereCaroline's Instgram page hereCaroline Gaskin MCPH - Caroline has been in practice for 25 years and is a much-loved lecturer and tutor. Like many women, she came to natural health through her children and first used homeopathy when her son was just 4m old. He had a cough and the GP offered him a sedative. Caroline knew instinctively that she didn't want to give medicine with unwanted side effects and instead went to see a homeopath at a drop in clinic. The homeopath wanted to know ‘how' the cough was for him and what he was like as a person. Caroline was fascinated by the difference of approach and the remedies worked. Homeopathy soon became the family's primary health choice. When her children were old enough she went on to study homeopathy and flower essences. In this episode, we'll talk about Dr. Gabriel's incredible work in homeopathy and medical astrology. He will also discuss how he first learned about medical astrology and how the fundamental energies that the planets represent improved his understanding of how humans' health works. Dr. Gabriel Blass is a homeopathic doctor and has been involved with homeopathic medicine since 1987. He graduated with honors in pathology in 1986 and in medicine with commendation from the University of Glasgow in 1988. He has been in practice in Glasgow since 1998, prescribing solely homeopathic remedies. He has a keen interest in medical astrology, and he has run numerous seminars on the subject for the last 14 years. In addition to his clinical practice, he has given many presentations in an attempt to disseminate awareness of and understanding of homeopathy to doctors, other health care professionals, and the public, as well as being involved in student supervision and the translation of articles from Spanish-speaking homeopathic journals. Carol Boyce joins me to share her extraordinary journey and deep commitment to the practice of homeopathy. From discovering the subject during her PhD studies to working on remarkable cases in India, Carol reflects on the moments that shaped her belief in homeopathy's ability to change lives. She also talks about her time with the Gulf Peace Team during the first Gulf War, her arrest in Amman, and her efforts to bring homeopathy into mainstream healthcare through projects like HINT. Throughout our conversation, Carol highlights the importance of community, self-care, and mentorship, leaving us with both inspiration and practical wisdom for the future of homeopathy. Episode Highlights: 04:49 - Why Homeopathy Instantly Made Sense to Me 11:19 - Work in Iraq during the Gulf War 16:55 - Overview of Carol's various projects 19:49 - Making documentaries about homeopathy 22:23 - What Is HINT and Why It Was Created 26:04 - Why Silence Isn't the Answer 33:59 - Growth of interest in homeopathy 36:28 - Project to help homeopaths avoid burnout 41:01 - How to get involved in Carol's new project 43:54 - Importance of homeopaths taking care of themselves 48:03 - What “Saving the World” Really Means in Homeopathy About my Guests: Carol Boyce BSc, LCH, MCH, RH.Int Homeopath, teacher, filmmaker, published author. Carol was headed for academia and was in the last months of a PhD in Biological Anthropology at King's College London when she “found” homeopathy. And as they say, the rest is history. She graduated from the College of Homeopathy in 1985 and, three months later, was in India at the Bengal Allen Medical College. In 1987, she co-created the Mobile Clinic project in Kolkata, adopted by the Banerjeas and still running today. In 1991, she was in Iraq doing aid work before and after the first Gulf War, and stopped in Cairo on the way home to start what became the Egyptian Society of Homeopathy. She co-founded Homeopathy For a Change, the forerunner of Homeopaths Without Borders, and set up clinics and training programmes on four continents. In 1996, she was at film school in Los Angeles, determined to make documentaries about homeopathy, but with no digital cameras, no interest in documentaries, and nothing in common with Hollywood, she hit the pause button and joined the faculty as clinical supervisor for the American University of Complementary Medicine's Master's programme. In 2009, she and her daughter filmed homeopathy in Tanzania and went back in 2011 to collect the data for a research project about malaria. In 2010, she taught in medical schools in Cuba as Director of Homeopaths Without Borders US. There is a theme! ☺ Eventually, Carol made a series of short films about autism, her one-hour film "Homeopathy Around the World," and, most recently, was Co-Director and Producer of the full-length documentary film "Introducing Homeopathy." She co-founded HINT – Homeopathy International, an out-and-proud registering body in the UK that believes homeopathy is primary care medicine and that this is not the time to play small or run the fear factor, and has run the homeopathy group within the People's Health Alliance since its inception. She currently teaches mostly philosophy and practitioner development at the Centre for Homeopathic Education and the North West College of Homeopathy.
