AI--artificial intelligence--has upsides, but many people are increasingly concerned about the very real downsides that come with the overuse or misuse of AI. Parents are increasingly worried about the impact on children's cognitive abilities and social skills. And even adults who embrace AI have questions about what's really safe and what's not. And when we look at AI and how it might harm not just the young but those who are older, there's a lot to consider, and a great deal to learn. To walk us through some of these vital issues, I'm joined by Stephen Balkam, founder and CEO of FOSI (Family Online Safety Institute), an international nonprofit devoted to making the online world safe for everyone.Topics discussed include artificial intelligence, computers, screentime, online safety, AI friends, AI friendships, cognitive skills, emotional skills, relational skills, children, teens, older adults, aging adults, elderly, elderly population, loneliness, isolation, friendship, social skills, parents, cyberbullying, Grok, ElliQ, xAI, Anthropic, attachment, resilience, tolerance, and emotional attachment.Sensitive Episode: Please note that this episode contains sensitive material; listener discretion is advised.Emergency Assistance Details: If you or someone you know needs immediate support, please call your emergency services. Send us Fan MailToday we're talking about something that tends to bring up a mix of reactions for physicians and practice leaders, and that is social media. For some of you, this feels like something you know you should be doing more with, but it keeps getting pushed down the list. For others, it feels like noise or distraction, and you're not convinced it really matters. And for a few of you, you've probably seen enough examples to feel a little cautious—maybe even concerned—about the risks. And honestly, all of those reactions are valid.Because social media, especially in healthcare, really is a bit of a double-edged sword. Done well, it can become one of your most effective tools for communication, visibility, and trust-building. Done poorly—or simply ignored—it can quietly work against you in ways that are easy to miss. Please Follow or Subscribe to get new episodes delivered to you as soon as they drop! Spirit is so wanting us to know that as powerful as thoughts are it can be a benefit or it can be a detriment. It is a gift of our life to use our thought which is the essence of manifesting and creation. However, if we don't feel love for ourselves or even talk down at ourselves it attracts a more negative experience would be the outcome. When positive seeds of thoughts are planted those will grow into something much larger in time. The same goes with a negative thought. This is why it is important on why you need to manage the thoughts you have. This episode touches on the subject of why humans would end their life because of a series of thoughts. We can actually imagine our own demise due to their low self esteem. This podcast reminds us that if you feel something beautiful only thought of fear can make you stop in your tracks. It is not the fear that is the problem but the repetitive thoughts of fear that is impactful. Low thought patterns are more contagious than high energy performance employees. Tony mentions several examples of how other people's thoughts can affect you. Check it out. Is the FACE Act being enforced as Congress originally intended or has its selected application raised serious concerns about fairness, constitutional limits, and the protection of pro-life Americans? The FACE Act has returned to the national spotlight following charges against former CNN anchor Don Lemon for interfering with the religious exercise of worshippers at a Minnesota church last month. Enacted in 1994, the law was intended to protect access to both reproductive health facilities and houses of worship by imposing criminal and civil penalties on those who intimidate, injure, or obstruct individuals seeking to enter them.In recent years, however, questions have been raised about whether the statute has been enforced evenhandedly. The law has been used repeatedly to prosecute pro-life activists, while many pro-life pregnancy resource centers and churches that have faced vandalism, threats, and even firebombings have seen comparatively limited federal response. These concerns have fueled growing calls in Congress to repeal or reform the statute.Join us for a timely discussion as a panel of experts examines the FACE Act’s statutory framework, its recent enforcement, and the constitutional and policy questions surrounding its future.Featuring:Matthew Cavedon, Director, Project on Criminal Justice, Cato InstituteJeremy Dys, Senior Counsel, First LibertyErin Hawley, Supreme Court & Appellate Litigation Chair, Lex Politica; Of Counsel, Alliance Defending Freedom(Moderator) Casey Mattox, Vice President, Legal Strategy, Stand Together; Vice President, Legal and Judicial Strategy, Americans for Prosperity
A @Christadelphians Video: A @Christadelphians Video: This Audio Book by Harry Tennant (read by Paul Cresswell) invites us to pursue a path through the Word of God whilst examining the faith of a Christadelphian. It deals freely and in detail with the things which Christadelphians believe and do, and what their organisation and way of life are like. The community has borne the name Christadelphian since the latter half of the 19th century. The name is intended to cover three words: 'Brethren in Christ'. Christadelphians are to be found in countries all over the world. They are bound together by a common faith in the gospel preached by Jesus Christ and his apostles in the first century. It was this faith and its appeal to men and women from all walks of life which brought the community into existence. This series will clearly show how the Christadelphian faith rests squarely and solely on the Bible as the Word of God.And the true Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God - Romans 10:17.**[Revealing] Discover the foundational beliefs of the Christadelphians in this outstanding and insightful Bible talk by Harry Tennant. Based on his thought-provoking book, this expositional presentation provides a clear, Scripture-based guide to what Christadelphians believe and preach. Think gluten is the universal bad guy? Let's slow down, look at the evidence, and figure out what's really driving symptoms, what protects long-term health, and how to make smart choices without fear. We break down what gluten is, where it shows up, and why oats are a special case. From celiac disease to non-celiac gluten sensitivity, we explain who truly needs to avoid gluten, what testing matters before you eliminate it, and how symptoms often overlap with IBS and FODMAP issues that have nothing to do with gluten at all.We also zoom out to the big health picture: whole grains are consistently linked to lower risk of heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and all-cause mortality. When people drop gluten without a diagnosis, they often drop whole grains and slide into gluten-free packaged foods high in refined starches, sugars, and fats. That shift can cut fiber, iron, calcium, and magnesium and may nudge cardiometabolic risk in the wrong direction. If gluten avoidance is necessary, we show how to build a strong gluten-free plate with brown rice, quinoa, buckwheat, millet, sorghum, teff, amaranth, and certified gluten-free oats, paired with legumes, vegetables, nuts, and seeds. You'll come away with a clear plan to personalize nutrition: test before you restrict, distinguish gluten from FODMAP triggers, and focus on minimally processed foods over labels. If you suspect gluten is an issue, get a proper workup so you can protect your health while solving symptoms. If you thrive with gluten, lean into whole grains for fiber, micronutrients, and gut-friendly benefits. Subscribe, share with a friend who's confused about gluten, and leave a review to tell us what grains work best for you.Go check out my website for tons of free resources on how to transition towards a healthier diet and lifestyle. You can download my free plant-based recipes eBook and a ton of other free resources by visiting the Digital Downloads tab of my website at https://www.plantbaseddrjules.com/shopDon't forget to check out my blog at https://www.plantbaseddrjules.com/blog You can also watch my educational videos on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCMpkQRXb7G-StAotV0dmahQCheck out my upcoming live events and free eCourse, where you'll learn more about how to create delicious plant-based recipes: https://www.plantbaseddrjules.com/Go follow me on social media by visiting my Facebook page and Instagram accountshttps://www.facebook.com/plantbaseddrjuleshttps://www.instagram.com/plantbased_dr_jules/Last but not least, the best way to show your support and to help me spread my message is to subscribe to my podcast and to leave a 5 star review on Apple and Spotify! Thanks so much!Peace, love, plants!Dr. Jules

What's the vital difference between a management team that creates value and one that destroys it? Is the concept of a "capital-light business" always positive? And what about management alignment and incentives? This episode is the first in a new series - The Finance Ghost and Mohammed Nalla are bringing you some of South Africa's best boutique fund managers, kicking off with Aylett & Co. represented by Dagon Sachs. As a founding member of Aylett and a highly-experienced asset manager who has spent over two decades mastering the art of stock picking, there's much to learn from Dagon. With the hospitality industry as a useful case study, this podcast is an important look at how to assess the way that corporate management teams behave with shareholder money. Today's Topics: A brief overview of Aylett's ethos of being ‘benchmark agnostic' and ‘eating your own cooking' by investing alongside clients. Why capital-light businesses with high growth tend to be unicorns – and priced like them, too! How capex-heavy businesses can ironically be better allocaters of capital than capital-light businesses that may be tempted into acquisitions. How to identify corporate management teams that prioritise rational economics over prestige, especially in an egocentric industry like hospitality. The cyclical nature of the hotel industry and the surprising similarity it has to mining in terms of replacement cost for assets. Copper promises a cleaner pool with less work, but the chemistry tells a different story. We walk through what copper really does well—suppressing algae at low levels—and where it falls short, especially on fast disinfection and heavy oxidation. If you have ever wondered why water looks clear but still isn't truly safe, or why blond hair turns green after a weekend swim, this conversation connects the dots and gives you a plan you can trust. We break down mineral and ionizer systems on the market, the narrow gap between effective copper dosing and staining, and why non-chlorine oxidizers struggle with complex sunscreen molecules. You'll hear why the EPA still requires chlorine alongside ionizers, how low residuals collapse under bather load, and the simple, reliable workflow for killing algae with 25 ppm chlorine held for 24 hours. Then we go practical: how sequestrants work, why they degrade in sunlight and under shock, and how to remove metals instead of endlessly binding them. For pools already battling stains, we outline a step-by-step in-water remediation: lift discoloration using ascorbic or citric acid, capture dissolved metals with skimmer media or a dedicated canister loop to speed removal, and only then resume strong chlorination. We also help you find the source—copper algaecides, acidic tablets in the skimmer, heater corrosion, high-velocity erosion, fill water, or even iron-bearing pebbles in new surfaces—and share the surprising fix for localized rust spots. • copper's effect on algae and bacteria• limits of ionizers and the need for oxidation• green hair caused by copper, not chlorine• sequestrants' benefits and degradation over time• chlorine-first method for algae removal at 25 ppm• in-water stain removal using acids and metal media• faster metal capture with a canister and aux pump• tracing metal sources from equipment and surfaces• pebble finishes with iron and spot remediation• learning path with guides, books, and courses• links to podcasts and coaching resourcesSend us a textSupport the Pool Guy Podcast Show Sponsors!
