Following the First World War, conflict between the United States and Japan was considered an inevitability. In an effort to protect vast expanses of US shoreline on two coasts, the Navy needed craft that could conduct surveillance and cover a lot of ground. Borrowing from German technology and the zeppelin, the Navy turned to the airship. In Far Away Places: Vice Admiral Charles Emery Rosendahl and the Navy's Airship Program, Dr. M. Ernest Marshall documents the history of a time that saw great advances in aviation, but also the internal issues within the Navy Department. Using the unpublished, detailed memoir of Vice Admiral Rosendahl as a guide, Marshall brings this part of American history into focus. M. Ernest Marshall is an award-winning author and historian whose research examines the US Navy during the World Wars and the inter-war period. His book, Herbert V. Wiley, USN: A Career in Airships and Battleships has won the Rear Admiral Samuel Eliot Morison Award for naval literature. He is also the author of That Night at Surigao: Life on a Battleship at War.

An anniversary special Bonus Interview from November 2018. Diarist fans stay tuned for information on upcoming audio productions in 2020! Hosted by: https://kboo.fm/profiles/ken-jones (Ken Jones) Produced by: KBOO Program:: https://kboo.fm/program/holy-crowley-hour (The Holy Crowley Hour) Air date: Mon, 11/26/2018 - 11:00pm to Tue, 11/27/2018 - 12:00am On tonight's Holy Crowley Hour, we totally ignore Thanksgiving and celebrate a great local podcast, http://thediaristpodcast.com/ (The Diarist), a multi-episode, serialized podcast set in 1950s New York City. The lead character, Andrea Davies, is a young secretary described in the first episode as “a fish surrounded by sharks”. In the words of one reviewer, “The Diarist is what you get if Mad Men and Jane Eyre marry and have a baby, where a secretary becomes the personal assistant to a prickly and strange ad executive and falls in love.” Another reviewer said the podcast is if "Alfred Hitchcock decided to write a love story”. Our guests are the creative team behind the series -- creator/producer/co-director Donna Barrow-Green. actress/co-producer/co-director Beth Ricketson, and lead actor/co-producer Ryan Bowen. We'll talk about audio podcasts and The Diarist first, especially in light of the #MeToo movement, and then play Episode One for you, in its entirety. And we'll do all that before the clock strikes midnight, when a prickly and strange Joe Woods arrives to take us all off to Far Away Places. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/the-diarist--an-audio-drama/message Support this podcast

Valentine's Day of 1949 brings us yet another confection, as Bob, Ray Sherman (piano), Jud De Naut (bass), and Ralph Collier (drums) perform both old standards and contemporary hits. After the "Sweet Georgia Brown" intro (and a Frank Barton lecture), the quartet launches into a song Tex Beneke would have success with, "Look Up". Then, song star Margo Powers steps to the mic for her rendition of "Far Away Places", a popular tune that in 1949 would have no less than four different performances on the air: Bing Crosby, Dinah Shore, Margaret Whiting, and Perry Como all hit the charts with it. The quartet then smolders once again for "Misirlou" (they'd done it back in January on Episode 4). Margo returns for a tune from the '20's, "Dear Old Southland" before Bob and the guys close out with "Crazy Rhythm". This particular transcription has a little more fuzz, but listen past that and enjoy this Valentine's treat!

Well, we said we'd decide if we wanted to continue talking about Flashforward this week, and...uh...we certainly decided. We watched "The Gift," "Playing Cards with Coyote," and "Believe," and wonder if these writers have ever left the writers' room, since they don't know how one gets a job, or plays poker, or gets text messages, or responds to an innocent question from a friend. Then, it's back to Mad Men, as Don, Peggy, and Roger look to sherbet, anonymous sex, and LSD -- respectively -- to take them to "Far Away Places."

What are the lies that we have embraced because of our life circumstances or things that have happened that would keep us or hold us back from the fullness of identity that the Lord has for us?” –Rebecca Greenwood From an early age, Rebecca Greenwood struggled with strongholds in her life: anger, depression and multiple fears. She feared authority figures, displeasing others, heights, the dark…even while she was a church youth leader and member of the worship team. Through a process that she describes in this podcast, Rebecca learned how to break free from these strongholds through uncovering their root causes and allowing God to heal them. She shares how you can find freedom and lasting peace through this process, and help others to do the same. “We will want in our personal lives to see God's kingdom extended wherever He has placed us…We can be totally bold and humble all at the same time.”-Rebecca Greenwood You will learn: How to identify the areas in your life where you are limiting yourself How to uncover your own strongholds and their root causes How to replace the lies about yourself that you have been believing with truths about who you were really created to be How to retrain and renew your mind Rebecca is co-founder and president of Christian Harvest International and Strategic Prayer Action Network (SPAN). From the time she was young girl, Rebecca felt a drawing of the Lord that she would be used by Him. Her mother used to tell Rebecca she was blessed and her father loved to sing a son entitled Far Away Places to she and her sister when they were small girls. Little did her parents know they were speaking her destiny into her heart and mind even from the time she was a young child. In a prayer time in 1990 she felt a strong presence of the Spirit in which she was overcome. During this time the Lord showed her a vision of thousands and thousands of souls from many nations. He challenged her saying, Becca, will you be accountable for the souls I have assigned to you? Will you reach them for Me? Her heart captivated by this experience, she seriously responded to the mandate of the Lord to the nations. Since this Kingdom encounter, her passion has been seeing the lands of the world impacted for the Glory of God and reaching people with the gospel and setting the captive free. Her heart cry has become, Lord give me the nations. . As a result, prophecy, prophetic intercession, transformational spiritual warfare prayer, spiritual mapping, deliverance and teaching the word of God extensively in the many lands of the earth are the main thrusts of Christian Harvest. Over the past 22 years, she has participated and led in spiritual warfare prayer journeys to 25 countries such as Egypt, Nepal, Italy, Turkey, Russia, Ukraine, Ireland, Spain, China, and to many cities and locations throughout the United States in which measurable breakthrough of transformation have been realized. Having a heart for lost souls, Rebecca has seen many saved and set free. She ministers in transparency from her personal experiences of overcoming fear, depression and rebellion into freedom. She is committed to equipping in scriptural truths on how to live an overcoming life of purpose, fulfillment and destiny. And to equip people and churches to have a Jesus captivated and authoritative prayer life in which change and transformation are realized. While she loves to travel the world and partner with the Lord in touching people's lives, Rebecca's favorite and most cherished times are with her husband Greg and their three beautiful daughters: Kendall, Rebecca and Katie. They reside in Colorado Springs, CO and are members of Freedom Church. Rebecca has been a guest on TBN, Its Supernatural, God Knows and the Harvest Show. She has written for publications such as Charisma, Pray! Magazine and Spirit-Led Woman. She graduated with a Doctorate of Practical Ministry from Wagner Leadership Institute where she also serves as a core faculty member. She is the author of six books: • Authority to Tread: An Intercessors Guide to Strategic-Level Spiritual Warfare • Breaking the Bonds of Evil: How to Set People Free from Demonic Oppression • The Power of a Godly Mother (ebook) • Destined to Rule: Spiritual Strategies for Advancing the Kingdom of God • Let Our Children Go: Steps to Free Your Child from Evil Influence and Demonic Harassment • Your Kingdom Come: Encouraged to Intercede • And was invited to partner with C. Peter Wagner in contributing to an Understanding Spiritual Warfare: Four Views. An academic book discussing four theological views of spiritual warfare which will be used in seminaries throughout the United States.

In this time-shifting, turbulent episode, characters find themselves discovering things about themselves and others--and sometimes the truth is harsh. We discuss Roger's LSD trip, Peggy's boldness, and Don's abandonment of Megan. While some characters like Peggy are growing, are others, like Roger, just repeating a cycle? And was the unconventional structure of "Far Away Places" too jarring?
Turn on, tune in, and drop out with Jim and A.Ron as we cover the trippy, spacey, and all around awesome hour of television that is Mad Men episode 506, “Far Away Places”. ¡Bienvenidos a nuestro vigésimo segundo programa! PART 1 of another cool REAL Country chat with the always fun Lee from Jetty Road talking about touring, life, and their stunning album "FAR AWAY PLACES" Here is some more info on Jetty Road: Paving your own destiny is a topic Australian act Jetty Road are quite familiar with. Their debut six years ago into the Australian music scene saw them make the bold decision only a few years later to branch out into the Northern hemisphere; a courageous step, which is now starting to pay big dividends. Jetty Road are now making waves in Canada and Europe as well as their home country Australia. But winning one of Australia's highest country music accolades in January 2010, the CMAA Award (Golden Guitar) for Best Group, was the icing on the cake. Identical twin sisters, Lee and Paula Bowman, Julian Sammut and Simon Ross are members of what is now being touted one of Australia's hottest acts. The four friends met whilst studying at Music College in Melbourne, Australia, and after a few years began writing and recording, releasing their debut album Full Circle in 2005, the follow up album, Dirt Roads City Lights in 2007, and their multi award winning album, Life at a Million Miles in 2009. And the figures are starting to stack up. Since releasing Full Circle, the band have had nine tracks appear in the Top 20 on Australian country radio, 7 of those in the top 10, with Million Miles staying the number 1 position for 6 consecutive weeks. Seven of the video clips for these tracks have appeared in the Top 10 on the CMC Top 30 chart (Country Music Channel) - three of them to the coveted #1 position, City Lights (2008), Million Miles (2009) and World Keeps Turning (2009). Along with strong chart success, Jetty Road have taken home many awards over the past few years, including their first Golden Guitar award at the CMAA Country Music Awards of Australia for Best Group / Duo in January 2010. That year, Jetty Road was also honoured with Album of the Year and Single of the Year nominations. They've also won other key country music awards including Australian Independent Artist of the Year, Australian Independent Album of the Year, Australian Independent Group/Duo of the Year, numerous Australian Country Music People's Choice Awards and the National Music Oz Award for Best Country Act. Most recently, their signing to On Ramp Records, one of Canada's premiere country music record labels, is their next significant achievement. They are the only non-Canadian act amongst an impressive Canadian country music artist roster including Victoria Banks, Shane Yellowbird and Jaydee Bixby. And while many may view the title of Jetty Road's fourth album, Far Away Places, as a reference to their penchant for globetrotting, it also reflects their musical journey into the unknown. On past albums, Jetty Road have written all of their own material, but their latest project sees a branching out with a number of notable co-writes, including George Canyon (Wrong), and Jason McCoy (I'm a Dreamer / Welcome to the Party). Opting to record their 4th album half way across the globe in Vancouver, Canada with producer Paul Shatto has also proven to be an exciting partnership. So, what's in store for Jetty Road in 2012 you ask? Stay tuned; it seems they may be in for one memorable ride..... http://www.JettyRoad.com REAL Country video editing by: Terence Sadler The YouTube channel for REAL Country is interactive!
