I am starting this new decade with a new mission. To help moms everywhere learn how to accept themselves. As new moms we have so much pressure, from society, from our family and friends, and from ourselves to be MORE than what we already are. Common new year resolutions include things that we feel we "should" be, things we "should" be doing. In this episode I talk about how to accept yourself and why it's so important to do before you add on challenges like growth and all the things you think you should be doing.I use my own personal examples from my life and my journey. I tell you why I'm growing in my natural hair colour, how I learned to accept my body and my weight, how I accept my current stage in life and it's limitations and sacrifices.Learning how to stop resisting yourself, and accept yourself for who you are is a practice, and I have an exercise to help you get started on your way. There is comfort and peace on the other side of resistance. I believe you can get there. It will help open you up in ways you cannot even imagine. It's exhausting to constantly beat yourself up, feel like you're failing, and try to meet other peoples expectations. Join me in this episode and let me know what you think. If you are closing a chapter in your life, or ending a year (it's the end of 2019 as I write) this episode is all about letting go of the things that are no longer serving you, to free you to move on. I walk you through an exercise on how to reflect on your life and bring the things that are no longer serving you to the surface so that you can let them go. This will allow you to move on into the next year, the next decade, or the next chapter in your life free from the things that are holding you back. I share my own real life example of the #1 biggest decision I made this year, the pain it's caused, and how I go about letting go of it and the exercises I've done. This episode is from the heart. Sharing a part of my life I've never spoken about publicly until now. I am on a mission to help remove the stigma and shame surrounding going to therapy. It's something I feel needs to be talked about more, the more we talk about it the more we normalize it. I open up from the heart in this episode to share my own 10 year long journey with therapy, why I started in the first place, and why as a new mom I had to go back. I share my tips about how to find and connect with a therapist and I break down what a session really looks like in real life. Hint: it's not always someone laying on a couch crying their eyes out while a therapist scribbles notes on a clip board.Visit the show notes for this episodeJoin the Mom Rising Village on Facebook
