How does the Gospel motivate us to serve, and also to lose while winning as we apply it to all our relationships? We find out in this message from Romans 12:14-21.Support the show (http://pushpay.com/pay/opendoornj)
The gospel is this: we are not loved because we are intrinsically lovely or because we have made ourselves worthy of love. We are loved because Jesus died for us when we were unattractive in order to make us attractive. When we love others, and repent of our selfishness at the same time, we become more and more sincere in our love towards others and empty of our hypocrisy.Text: Romans 12:9-16Support the show (http://pushpay.com/pay/opendoornj)
What is the believer's relationship to sin now that we have been born again, and how can we tell the difference when we sin as believers and when someone who doesn't know Christ lives in sin? These are questions we answer from our study in 1 John.Support the show (http://pushpay.com/pay/opendoornj)

Where is our hope truly grounded as believers? If we say in Christ, but we live abiding in the wrong source of hope we will find ourselves empty and fruitless. True believers have found their hope in Jesus Christ alone.Support the show (http://pushpay.com/pay/opendoornj)
Now that we have established that the works of the Law don't save us, and it is only by grace through faith that we come into new life in Jesus. What then is purpose of the Law in the lives of a believer? What is the spirit of Anti-Christ? How does it affect church, and what are the marks of true believers? In 1 John 2:18-27 we discover the marks of Anti-Christ, and the Mark of Christians.Support the show (http://pushpay.com/pay/opendoornj)
As we enter chapter 3 of Galatians, Paul begins to correct the church for coming into the family of God by faith, but leaving faith behind for their works in order to grow. As we have begun in the Spirit, we will progress as believers by the Spirit. The just will live by faith. The entire Christian life is built on faith, not performance; this is the way it has always been, and there is no other way.Support the show (http://pushpay.com/pay/opendoornj)
As we look at Galatians 2:16-21 we often overlook what justification is because we assume the church knows, or that we ourselves have fully grasped it. What is justification? Paul correct Peter at Antioch for his hypocrisy in not walking according to the truth of the gospel. When we don't live according to the Gospel, we live hypocritically. What are some causes of hypocrisy, what are its consequences, and how do can we cure ourselves from hypocrisy in our own lives? In 1 John 2, we understand that all believers are growing in grace at different rates in the body of Christ, but all can take assurance that spiritual growth doesn't hinge on their performance, but is according to God's work and plan in all believers.Support the show (http://pushpay.com/pay/opendoornj)
In Galatians 2:10-24 Paul gives his testimony not to draw attention to himself as being of use and potential to God and therefore "redeemable", but rather to highlight that the true Gospel of Jesus Christ is all of God's grace.Support the show (http://pushpay.com/pay/opendoornj)

When we revise the gospel, we reverse the gospel. In Galatians 1:7-9 Paul lays down the plumb line for what the gospel is, and how it works.Support the show (http://pushpay.com/pay/opendoornj)
One of the most obvious and overlooked facts about the historical context of Galatians is that Paul is writing to believers, who have deserted the message of the true gospel, for one that has mixed in performance-driven acceptance based on obedience to Mosaic Law.Galatians is not only Bible evidence that legalism is possible in believers, it is evidence that it is common in believers. Through our fleshly desire to be our own savior, and the hero of our own story we are primed to accept teaching that says, “God is pleased with you when you...”“People who live in certain ways have a special anointing... or more power...”We love these mystical messages that give us the ability to be higher than others, and worthy of salvation. But these are fables that contain parts of the gospel, but ultimately have perverted the relationship with God that the gospel delivers to us.Support the show (http://pushpay.com/pay/opendoornj)

In chapter 16, we find the spiral of Samson's life spiraling down and ultimately coming to a fall. In this message we will see the dangers of operating in the flesh in the way we live, the way we love, and in the way we lose.Support the show (http://pushpay.com/pay/opendoornj)
By Judges 15 the life of Samson is a contradiction of God's blessing & spiritual power in a man who is impulsive, unteachable, and driven by his own fleshly desires.Samson is living by the mantra, "As they did unto me, so have I done unto them..." In Samson we have the example of the lust of the flesh, so what does it mean to "walk in the Spirit", and how is it possible?Support the show (http://pushpay.com/pay/opendoornj)
After the miraculous announcement of the birth of Samson in chapter 13, we would expect some incredible Judge to come ikon the scene & deliver Israel from its enemies. Instead we are left in the remaining chapters with a fleshly, impulse driven, sex addicted scoundrel who is unreachable and out of control. Yet the perplexing truth is that God has chosen Samson, He will inevitably use Samson, He will work through His flesh & sin, and ultimate accomplish His will. What can we glean from this bad example who is far more focused on his own giftedness, than the fruit that should be produced in his life? We discover the Bible distinctions between gifts and fruit in this message from Judges 14:1-15:7. Support the show (http://pushpay.com/pay/opendoornj)
As we begin to look at the final cyclical judge in the Book, God reveals some things about His desire both to know us, and give to us of His Spirit through the life of Samson.Whose eyes matter when determining right and wrong in our lives, and what has God given us that is better than rules whereby we can know Him? Even with the presence of God's Spirit in us we are still capable of terrible things. This was the case of Jephthah. With his beliefs about God heavily influenced by the culture he was living in, he foolishly promised something he should never have.Jephthah, though well intentioned, is the picture of what we look like when we try to allow truth and error to coexist in our lives.Jesus is the perfect Judge who delivers us from ourselves.Support the show (http://pushpay.com/pay/opendoornj)

In Judges 9 we see the picture of a man in Abimilech that promotes himself, and lives a life to get all that his flesh desires. In contrast we see the trust in the Lord in Jotham, and the grace of God through Tola and Jair to save Israel from themselves. From this may we learn the destruction of self-reliance, and the corrupt nature of our flesh. To understand that our greatest battles will be with our own desires, and the key to overcoming them is yielding to God's will.Support the show (http://pushpay.com/pay/opendoornj)
When we have a measure of success we often feel deserved of admiration. When we are given a position of power, we need to protect our hearts from using it to lift up ourselves and abuse others. These are the Lessons we need to learn from the failures we see in Gideon at the end of his career as a Judge over Israel.Support the show (http://pushpay.com/pay/opendoornj)
As we conclude chapter 7 of the book of Judges, we see God assuring His fearful servant through the reminder of His Word, the actions of others, and the circumstances that are facing him. Like Gideon we are continual need of reassurance, so God gives us His Word, others, and the circumstances of life to assure us of His love for us, and the confidence we should have in Him. If you've ever struggled with assurance, this message is for you.Support the show (http://pushpay.com/pay/opendoornj)
As we continue out study through Judges, we see through the life of Gideon that God wanted Israel to be certain who it was that would receive glory for their victory. He knew that if their salvation was by their works, they would have cause to boast in themselves and not in Him. We too would have reason to boast if our salvation was in ourselves and not completely in Christ. Who gets the glory? Jesus alone!Support the show (http://pushpay.com/pay/opendoornj)

God brings deliverance to His people through unexpected people and in unexpected ways. In this message we look at the "left-hander" Ehud. God tells us in Judges 3:7 that doing evil involves forgetting Him, and serving other gods.
