In the midst of all the flimflam surrounding religion and religious organizations, the simple message of God's Word is being lost. Is it possible to simply be a Christian in the 21st century? Can we avoid being entangled in and weighed down by all the trappings and innovations of man which have found their way into religion over the past 2000 years? I believe “yes,” and can be accomplished by taking an “island approach” to Christianity. What do I mean by that? Suppose there was an isolated island filled with people who knew nothing of Jesus. Then, one day a...Article Link

In part four of our series, Walking With Jesus: A Journey to the Cross with Major Dr. Terry Masango, we stand before the empty tomb—the defining moment that separates Christianity from every other faith tradition in the world. The resurrection isn't just an epilogue to the crucifixion—it's the validation of everything Jesus taught and claimed. It's the proof that death has been defeated, that sin has been conquered, and that the devil himself has been overthrown. As we prepare to celebrate Easter Sunday, Major Masango reminds us not to stay fixated on the cross and the darkness of Friday, but to press forward to the empty tomb and the light of Sunday morning. We're invited to move past the suffering and see the triumph. >>> Get your free Holy Week Art Journal here. EPISODE SHOWNOTES: Read more. BE AFFIRMED. Get the Good Words email series. In part three of our series, Walking With Jesus: A Journey to the Cross with Major Dr. Terry Masango, we explore three simple words: "Jesus, remember me." Spoken by a dying criminal, these words contain within them the essence of our faith journey. As we near Holy Week, Major Masango invites us to consider which of the two thieves we identify with—the one who demanded physical salvation or the one who recognized his need for spiritual redemption. It's a message that speaks directly to those of us who feel unworthy, invisible, or beyond redemption. It reminds us that even at the worst points in our lives—even in our final moments like the thief on the cross—we can turn to Jesus and simply ask, "Remember me." And his answer remains the same: "Today you will be with me in paradise." >>> Get your free Holy Week Art Journal here. EPISODE SHOWNOTES: Read more. BE AFFIRMED. Get the Good Words email series. Finding Rhythms: Rest, Reflection, and Brotherhood In the rush of life, how do we maintain the rhythms that keep us grounded? This episode of the Exploring More Podcast dives into the balance between productivity and rest, focusing on the intentional rhythms that connect us with Jesus and with our brothers in faith. Michael Thompson and SJ Jennings explore the significance of solitude, reflection, and being present with God throughout the day. Drawing inspiration from The Chosen series, they discuss the Sabbath as a foundational rhythm—one that can be difficult to honor in a world that constantly demands more of us. The conversation offers practical steps for cultivating healthy spiritual habits, from creating the right environment for solitude to practicing audible prayer and revisiting past questions with a fresh perspective. They challenge listeners to not just bring requests to God, but to engage in meaningful dialogue, listening for His response. As life pulls us in every direction, intentional rhythms become essential for staying connected to God and each other. Join the conversation and discover how to create space for rest, reflection, and deeper faith. We hope you enjoy this episode and invite you to connect with us!
In part two of our series, Walking With Jesus: A Journey to the Cross with Major Dr. Terry Masango, we turn to one of Jesus' most profound and challenging parables: The Good Samaritan. This story isn't just about helping others—it completely redefines what it means to be a neighbor and challenges our assumptions about who deserves our love and compassion. In our world, we're often divided by differences—political views, cultural backgrounds, socioeconomic status. We build invisible walls between "us" and "them." But in this message, Major Masango asks us a critical question: Who is our neighbor? And more importantly, to whom are we being a neighbor? As he explains, real love gets close. Real love notices people. Real love is willing to be interrupted and inconvenienced. Listen as Major Dr. Terry Masango unpacks the parable of the Good Samaritan and challenges us to cross boundaries with compassion, just as Jesus did. >>> Get your free Holy Week Art Journal here. Welcome to a new series—Walking With Jesus: A Journey to the Cross. Over the next four weeks, we'll be guided by Major Dr. Terry Masango through a thoughtful exploration of Scripture and its meaning in our everyday lives. In this series, he invites us to walk alongside those who encountered Jesus on his journey to the cross—from the lost sheep being carried home on the shepherd's shoulders, to the Good Samaritan who showed true compassion across social boundaries, to the thief on the cross who found salvation in his final moments, and finally to the empty tomb that changed everything. You'll be challenged to see yourself in these stories—sometimes as the lost sheep, sometimes as the Good Samaritan and always as recipients of God's grace. Today, we'll discover the lengths to which the Good Shepherd will go to find those who have strayed. >>> Get your free Holy Week Art Journal here. EPISODE SHOWNOTES: Read more. BE AFFIRMED. Exhausted by religion? Jesus has a better way! Let's be realwhen someone says Christianity is easy and light, some religious folks lose their minds. Watch out! That's easy believism! they cry. But Jesus actually said it. His yoke is easy. His burden is light. So why do we turn it into hard work? Somewhere along the way, we swapped rest for religious stress. We made it about moral performance instead of Christ Himself inspiring us from within. We mixed new wine with old, crusty rule-keeping. But Jesus calls us to something radically differentgrace, rest, and a life where He does the heavy lifting. So, are we going to believe Him or keep clinging to exhausting religion? This message will challenge everything you thought you knew about walking with Jesus. Watch now and step into the real Christian lifewhere the world may not be easy, but our connection with Him is easy and restful. Discussion Questions for Matthew 23, Mark 2, Luke 10, and John 7: 1. In Matthew 23, Jesus warns about the heavy burdens the Pharisees place on people. How do we sometimes fall into the trap of carrying religious burdens God never intended for us? 2. Why does Jesus expose the hypocrisy of the religious leaders? What does this reveal about God's heart for us to walk freely in His grace? 3. In Mark 2, Jesus speaks of new wine requiring new wineskins. How does this illustrate the radical difference between law and grace? 4. Why do you think mixing the old with the new is so destructive? How does trusting the purity of God's grace free us from religious striving? 5. In Luke 10, Jesus tells Martha that Mary has chosen what is better. What does this teach us about relaxing with Jesus rather than worrying about religious performance? 6. Why do we sometimes feel like we need to do more to please God, and how does Jesus' response to Martha challenge that mindset? 7. In John 7, Jesus invites the thirsty to come and drink, promising rivers of living water. How does this contrast with the exhausting efforts of legalism? 8. What does it mean for the Spirit to flow from within us? How does this reshape the way we walk with Jesuswithout heavy lifting? How does learning from Him change the way we live? “For I am gentle” – How does Jesus' gentleness contrast with the harshness of religion or our own expectations of Him? “And humble in heart” – What does Jesus' humility teach us about God's heart for us? How should this shape our relationship with Him? “And you will find rest for your souls” – What does it mean to find rest in Jesus?
