Episode 10 - Do Not LieWhat is the purpose of the law? Why follow something so ancient? Shouldn't we get rid of rules and be people of love? Is the law relevant? Necessary? Reasonable? There's so much confusion about the law of God in the Old Testament. Join us in this series on the 10 Commandments as we see how Jesus not only fulfills the law but how the gospel frees us to obey the law.
Continuing in our "Journey Through Scripture" series, Pastor Jim Ellis takes us into the book of Acts to examine a very human story: the sharp disagreement between Barnabas and Paul. We learn how even deep ruptures between passionate believers can be used by God, proving that He is always in the business of repairing relationships and redeeming conflict. #BCC #Gospel #JourneyThroughScripture #ReadBible #Unity #BibleStudy #ChristianLiving #JimEllis #BiblicalTruth #BCCBismarck #Acts #Paul #Barnabas #Rupture #RepairSupport the showFind out more about us at BismarckCC.org. Message by Pastor Doug Bunnell, recorded live November 16, 2025 at First Presbyterian Church of Bellingham. Scripture read by Sarah Lewis. On Christ the Solid Rock Jesus is the High Priest working in God's Temple mediating the new covenant. What does the “true tabernacle” mean, and how does it differ from the earthly tabernacle? What is the role of a priest, and how does Jesus fulfill that role uniquely? In what ways is Jesus' priesthood and covenant superior to the old one?How does the concept of a “better covenant” with “better promises” encourage us today?Verses 8–12 quote Jeremiah 31:31–34. What are the key promises of the New Covenant in these verses? How does this reveal God's grace in the New Covenant? Are there areas of your life where you're still living under an "old covenant" mindset? How can we live more fully in the reality of the New Covenant today?Hebrews 8:1-131 Now the main point in what we are saying is this: we have such a high priest, one who is seated at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens, 2 a minister in the sanctuary and the true tent that the Lord, and not any mortal, has set up. 3 For every high priest is appointed to offer gifts and sacrifices; hence it is necessary for this priest also to have something to offer. 4 Now if he were on earth, he would not be a priest at all, since there are already those who offer gifts according to the law. 5 They offer worship in a sanctuary that is a sketch and shadow of the heavenly one, just as Moses was warned when he was about to erect the tent. For, God said, “See that you make everything according to the pattern that was shown you on the mountain.” 6 But Jesus has now obtained a more excellent ministry, and to that degree he is the mediator of a better covenant, which has been enacted on the basis of better promises. 7 For if that first covenant had been faultless, there would have been no need to look for a second one. 8 God finds fault with them when he says:“The days are surely coming, says the Lord, when I will establish a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah,9 not like the covenant that I made with their ancestors on the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt, for they did not continue in my covenant, and so I had no concern for them, says the Lord.10 This is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord:I will put my laws in their minds and write them on their hearts, and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.11 And they shall not teach one another or say to each other, ‘Know the Lord,'for they shall all know me, from the least of them to the greatest.12 For I will be merciful toward their iniquities, and I will remember their sins no more.”13 In speaking of a new covenant, he has made the first one obsolete, and what is obsolete and growing old will soon disappear.

When you think of the most powerful people on earth, meekness is not one of the character attributes we would usually use to describe them. Yet when Jesus is listing character traits that a Christ Follower will need to live and operate in the second mile, one of the most important is meekness. Not only is it the practical application when we seek to live the first two traits he has mentioned - it is what empowers us to strive to follow in his footsteps and be obedient to His Word. This message defines and explains what Biblical meekness is and why it is so important. It also gives us some practical examples of what meekness looks like lived out in our everyday lives. Message by Pastor Doug Bunnell, recorded live November 9, 2025 at First Presbyterian Church of Bellingham. Scripture read by Kristen Frankland.Created and Treated EquallyIn the Kingdom all people are equal so we live out the subversive resistance by treating all people with equality. What transformation happened in Onesimus's life? How does this change things? How does verse 16 challenge cultural norms of the time (i.e., slavery)? "No longer as a slave, but better than a slave, as a dear brother..."How can you apply Paul's appeal for reconciliation in your own relationships? What does Paul's willingness to pay Onesimus's debt reveal about his character? How does this letter speak to issues of human dignity, equality, and Christian fellowship—especially across social or economic divides?Philemon1 Paul, a prisoner of Christ Jesus, and Timothy our brother,To our beloved coworker Philemon, 2 to our sister Apphia, to our fellow soldier Archippus, and to the church in your house:3 Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.4 I thank my God always when I mention you in my prayers, 5 because I hear of your love for all the saints and your faith toward the Lord Jesus. 6 I pray that the partnership of your faith may become effective as you comprehend all the good that we share in Christ. 7 I have indeed received much joy and encouragement from your love, because the hearts of the saints have been refreshed through you, my brother.8 For this reason, though I am more than bold enough in Christ to command you to do the right thing, 9 yet I would rather appeal to you on the basis of love—and I, Paul, do this as an old man and now also as a prisoner of Christ Jesus. 10 I am appealing to you for my child, Onesimus, whose father I have become during my imprisonment. 11 Formerly he was useless to you, but now he is indeed useful to you and to me. 12 I am sending him, that is, my own heart, back to you. 13 I wanted to keep him with me so that he might minister to me in your place during my imprisonment for the gospel, 14 but I preferred to do nothing without your consent in order that your good deed might be voluntary and not something forced. 15 Perhaps this is the reason he was separated from you for a while, so that you might have him back for the long term, 16 no longer as a slave but more than a slave, a beloved brother—especially to me but how much more to you, both in the flesh and in the Lord.17 So if you consider me your partner, welcome him as you would welcome me. 18 If he has wronged you in any way or owes you anything, charge that to me. 19 I, Paul, am writing this with my own hand: I will repay it. I say nothing about your owing me even your own self. 20 Yes, brother, let me have this benefit from you in the Lord! Refresh my heart in Christ. 21 Confident of your obedience, I am writing to you, knowing that you will do even more than I ask.22 One thing more: prepare a guest room for me, for I am hoping through your prayers to be restored to you.23 Epaphras, my fellow prisoner in Christ Jesus, sends greetings to you, 24 and so do Mark, Aristarchus, Demas, and Luke, my coworkers.25 The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit.

Christ United Sermon Series - Sanctuary Nov 9 - Hope Ahead: The Road to Healing Mark 5:24b-34 ~ Rev. Rob Couch Christ United Church Mobile, Alabama
At the start of the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus follows up his call for those who want to follow him to be "poor in spirit" to promise for those who mourn that they will be comforted. It is easy to read this as meaning "mourn" in a sense of our emotional response to facing death, sickness or tragedy, and there are plenty of those promises in the New Testament, but that is not what he is talking about here. In verse 4 of Chapter 5, he is talking about a different type of mourning. A type of mourning that is the emotional response to the intellectual reality of verse 3 - a mourning over sin. All sin and its consequences - the sin in our world, our nation, in the lives of those we love and most importantly in our own lives. We can never expect to live in the second mile if we are not heartbroken over the things that break God's heart. Listen to discover what that might look like in our everyday lives and learn the promise that comes to those who are broken hearted over sin. Pastor Randy continued the Book of John sermon series with a sermon titled, "Who is Jesus? The I AM" from John 8:31-59. 3 Characteristics of the I AM: 1. He knows His true FOLLOWERS. (vs. 31,37) 2. He guarantees true FREEDOM. (vs. 32-36) 3. He honors the true FATHER. (vs. 38-59)
Are you struggling to reconcile God's sovereign plan with your personal choices? In this powerful sermon, Dr. Roger Patterson addresses one of the most debated topics in theology: Predestination and Free Will. He explores the "unsearchable ways of God" by looking at three essential biblical concepts: Predestination: God's eternal decision of what will ultimately come to pass. Providence: God's ongoing direction of all things toward His purpose. Personal Choice: Humanity's real ability to make moral choices and be accountable for them. Dr. Patterson argues that the Bible does not present God's sovereignty and human freedom as enemies, but as "dance partners". Drawing from the account of Moses and Pharaoh in Exodus 5 and 6, he delves into the three-stage "process of the hardening of the heart", showing how Pharaoh's rejection was an intersection of divine sovereignty and his own will. Learn how to live in the tension of these truths, understanding that God's plan will be fulfilled, yet your choices still matter. Scripture Reference: Exodus 5-7 Key Takeaway: Your choices matter (your "rudder"), but God's will (the "current") ensures His plan will be fulfilled. Daniel in the Lion's Den (Sermon Series on Daniel) - Sunday, 2nd November 2025.[Episode 6 - Daniel Chapter 6 (KJV)]1 Daniel is appointed president.Daniel 6:1-3 It pleased Darius to set over the kingdom an hundred and twenty princes, which should be over the whole kingdom; And over these three presidents; of whom Daniel was first: that the princes might give accounts unto them, and the king should have no damage. Then this Daniel was preferred above the presidents and princes, because an excellent spirit was in him; and the king thought to set him over the whole realm.2. Envy and Jealousy motivate a devious plot.Daniel 6:4-5 Then the presidents and princes sought to find occasion against Daniel concerning the kingdom; but they could find none occasion nor fault; forasmuch as he was faithful, neither was there any error or fault found in him. Then said these men, We shall not find any occasion against this Daniel, except we find it against him concerning the law of his God.3. Knowing the danger Daniel continues to walk with God openly.Daniel 6:10 Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime.4. Daniel's enemies spring their trap.Daniel 6:11-14 Then these men assembled, and found Daniel praying and making supplication before his God. Then they came near, and spake before the king concerning the king's decree; Hast thou not signed a decree, that every man that shall ask a petition of any God or man within thirty days, save of thee, O king, shall be cast into the den of lions? The king answered and said, The thing is true, according to the law of the Medes and Persians, which altereth not. Then answered they and said before the king, That Daniel, which is of the children of the captivity of Judah, regardeth not thee, O king, nor the decree that thou hast signed, but maketh his petition three times a day. Then the king, when he heard these words, was sore displeased with himself, and set his heart on Daniel to deliver him: and he laboured till the going down of the sun to deliver him.5 Daniel is cast into the lions den.Daniel 6:16-18 Then the king commanded, and they brought Daniel, and cast him into the den of lions. Now the king spake and said unto Daniel, Thy God whom thou servest continually, he will deliver thee. And a stone was brought, and laid upon the mouth of the den; and the king sealed it with his own signet, and with the signet of his lords; that the purpose might not be changed concerning Daniel. Then the king went to his palace, and passed the night fasting: neither were instruments of musick brought before him: and his sleep went from him.6. God sends an angel to protect Daniel.Daniel 6:20-22 And when he came to the den, he cried with a lamentable voice unto Daniel: and the king spake and said to Daniel, O Daniel, servant of the living God, is thy God, whom thou servest continually, able to deliver thee from the lions? Then said Daniel unto the king, O king, live for ever. My God hath sent his angel, and hath shut the lions' mouths, that they have not hurt me: forasmuch as before him innocency was found in me; and also before thee, O king, have I done no hurt.7. Daniel's enemies are executed.Daniel 6:24 And the king commanded, and they brought those men which had accused Daniel, and they cast them into the den of lions, them, their children, and their wives; and the lions had the mastery of them, and brake all their bones in pieces or ever they came at the bottom of the den.8. God is glorified throughout the empire again.Dan 6:25-28 Then king Darius wrote unto all people, nations, and languages, that dwell in all the
