Three Keys to Godly Communication 1) Open your ears (1:19) 2) Control your tongue (1:19) 3) Control your emotions (1:19-20)

Here is perhaps the Bible's clearest definition of faith: “the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.” Abel, Enoch, and Noah are all examples of this faith, trusting in unseen realities and living in costly ways because of this faith.

What's the difference between following Jesus and being a Christian? Genuine discipleship means dying daily to selfish desires and embracing a new identity in Christ. This isn't about working harder. It's about surrendering further and letting the Spirit transform us from within. Listen now and be inspired to embrace daily surrender that brings rest and freedom.
James 1:17-18 (NASB) 17 Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow. 18 In the exercise of His will He gave us birth by the word of truth, so that we would be a kind of first fruits among His creatures. Theme: God, who is the wonderful, wondrous Giver of physical and spiritual life, should receive continuous gratitude from us as His new creations. 1) Who God is >> His Wonderful Character (1:17) 2) What God does >> His Wondrous Works (1:18)

In this podcast episode, Mateja Todorovska shares her remarkable journey from growing up in a Catholic church to becoming deeply involved in New Age practices and the occult. After believing she was serving God through these practices, Mateja's life changed dramatically in December 2018 when she encountered Jesus while watching a YouTube video. This revelation led her to repent and fully embrace Christianity, even leading her former New Age followers to Christ. Mateja lives in Slovenia with her family, works with Josiah Venture, and is committed to helping others through her faith. Mateja also provides guidance on how to engage lovingly with those who are still involved in New Age beliefs. James 1:12-16 (NASB) 12 Blessed is a man who perseveres under trial; for once he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him. 13 No one is to say when he is tempted, “I am being tempted by God”; for God cannot be tempted by evil, and He Himself does not tempt anyone. 14 But each one is tempted when he is carried away and enticed by his own lust. 15 Then when lust has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it has run its course, brings forth death. 16 Do not be deceived, my beloved brothers and sisters. James 1:9-11 (NASB) 9 Now the brother or sister of humble circumstances is to glory in his high position; 10 but the rich person is to glory in his humiliation, because like flowering grass he will pass away. 11 For the sun rises with its scorching heat and withers the grass; and its flower falls off and the beauty of its appearance is destroyed; so also the rich person, in the midst of his pursuits, will die out. Theme: Believers, whether rich or poor, should find their true satisfaction in Jesus Christ above all else. 1) The poor Christian's boast (1:9) 2) The rich Christian's boast (1:10-11)

Faith without works is dead. James makes it clear: if your faith doesn't move you to act in obedience, it's not real faith. Abraham's obedience, even in the hardest test, showed the world that his faith was alive and complete. Join Pastor Robert and his wife Carolyn as they explain how actions reveal the evidence of our faith—and why obedience is the true mark of a follower of Christ. Sometimes it's easy to treat our faith like a transaction—doing our part and expecting God to do His. But trusting God means stepping into something much greater than a simple exchange.
The King's Authority: True Faith
James 1:5-8 (NASB) 5 But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him. 6 But he must ask in faith without any doubting, for the one who doubts is like the surf of the sea, driven and tossed by the wind. 7 For that person ought not to expect that he will receive anything from the Lord, 8 being a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways. Theme: Christians should seek spiritual maturity by asking God for wisdom and praying with a believing heart. Some “How-tos” of gaining wisdom and making petitions to God 1) Acknowledge your need for wisdom (1:5) 2) Ask God for wisdom (1:5) 3) Ask God in faith, for everything (1:6-8)
What is faith made of? Many people believe they have saving faith, but the book of James challenges us to measure our faith by our actions. In this episode, Pastor Robert and his wife Carolyn unpack what true, biblical faith looks like, why actions must accompany belief, and how obedience reveals whether our faith is alive or dead. James 1:2-4 (NASB) 2 Consider it all joy, my brothers and sisters, when you encounter various trials, 3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. 4 And let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing. Theme: We as Christians can take joy in our trials because we know that God is using them to grow us to spiritual maturity. Three Encouragements to help us deal with life's trials: 1) Put on the Right Attitude in our Trials (1:2) 2) Have Accurate Knowledge about our Trials (1:3) 3) Understand the Intended Outcome of our Trials (1:4)

What if the key to resilience wasn't about avoiding suffering—but learning to embrace it with grit, faith, and silence? In this episode of Decidedly, we sit down with Father Stephen J. Gadberry – Catholic priest, Air Force veteran, and ultra-endurance athlete – to uncover how tragedy, discipline, and devotion shaped his approach to decision-making and leadership. There is a great controversy raging within Christianity in our day. The question is: what relationship does faith have with righteousness? Of course, our concern is not with the technicalities of the debate. Our concern is whether people are being deceived into thinking that saving faith has nothing to do with the way they live their life. This is Ep. 06 of our series, "Resisting the Rise of Lawlessness." Psalm 50 begins with the LORD summoning His people before Him for a trial. He does not keep silence, but calls out so that His people will listen to Him. He acknowledges that they have made sacrifices continually, but they have done so without faith, as if God needed something from them. Instead, God calls His people to offer their sacrifices with thanksgiving, to keep their vows to Him with faith, and to pray to Him in their time of need. To those who ignore His Word entirely, God speaks with rebuke for their repentance before the day of judgment comes. To the one who hears His call in faith, the LORD promises to show His salvation. Rev. Luke Zimmerman, pastor at Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mechanicsburg, PA, joins host Rev. Timothy Appel to study Psalm 50. To learn more about Calvary Lutheran, visit calvarymechanicsburg.org. Join Sharper Iron this summer to study selected Psalms. In the Psalter, God speaks His Word to us and teaches us how to speak back to Him in prayer. Even in the great variety of the Psalms, each one points us to our Savior, Jesus Christ. Sharper Iron, hosted by Rev. Timothy Appel, looks at the text of Holy Scripture both in its broad context and its narrow detail, all for the sake of proclaiming Christ crucified and risen for sinners. Two pastors engage with God's Word to sharpen not only their own faith and knowledge, but the faith and knowledge of all who listen. Submit comments or questions to: listener@kfuo.org
