This sermon centers on the healing of a demon-possessed boy in Matthew 17, not merely as a miraculous event, but as a profound illustration of the necessity of persistent, prayerful faith. The passage reveals Jesus' disappointment with His disciples' inability to cast out the demon, not due to lack of authority, but because of their 'little faith'—a faith that relies on human solutions rather than divine dependence. The sermon emphasizes that true faith, like a mustard seed, begins small but grows through trials and a consistent life of prayer, especially in situations where no human remedy exists. It calls believers to cultivate a faith that persists in prayer, even when answers are delayed, and to recognize that God often works most powerfully in the midst of life's most desperate, unsolvable problems. Ultimately, the sermon points to the ultimate 'impossible' situation—sin before a holy God—and calls all to place their faith in Christ alone, the only true solution, where faith is not measured by results but by trust in God's character and promise.
James 2:10-13 (NASB) 10 For whoever keeps the whole Law, yet stumbles in one point, has become guilty of all. 11 For He who said, “Do not commit adultery,” also said, “Do not murder.” Now if you do not commit adultery, but do murder, you have become a violator of the Law. 12 So speak, and so act, as those who are to be judged by the law of freedom. 13 For judgment will be merciless to one who has shown no mercy; mercy triumphs over judgment. Six Aspects of (our attitudes and behavior that point us toward) Christ-like Impartiality Part 1 (Last Week): 1) The Prohibitive Principle (2:1, 9) 2) A Poor Picture (2:2-4) 3) The Paradox (2:5-7) 4) The Positive Practice (2:8) Part 2 (Today): 5) The Perfect Standard (2:10-11) 6) A Serious Precept & a Solemn Proverb (2:12-13)

Every mass, we imitate the faith of the Centurion and pray: “Lord, I am not worthy that you should enter under my roof, but only say the word and my soul shall be healed.” The next time I am at mass, can I pray these words with deep faith and reverence?https://epriest.com/reflections/view/2823

In this episode, Nathan and Cameron dive into why so many believers today feel embarrassed to publicly identify as Christians, exploring how cultural polarization, political co-optation, and widespread biblical illiteracy shape modern perceptions of the church. Drawing on real experiences—from awkward airplane conversations to navigating headlines about scandals, televangelists, and politicized “Christian” figures—they unpack the tension between the beauty of the Gospel and the distorted versions of Christianity that dominate the public square. Nathan and Cameron offer thoughtful theological insight on hypocrisy, deconstruction, cultural Christianity, and what it means to articulate the way of Jesus in clear, non-insider language for a post-Christian society. This deep, compassionate conversation equips Christians who want to engage honestly, missionally, and intelligently with the world while keeping Christ—not cultural caricatures—at the center.DONATE LINK: https://toltogether.com/donate BOOK A SPEAKER: https://toltogether.com/book-a-speakerJOIN TOL CONNECT: https://toltogether.com/tol-connect
As believers in Jesus Christ, true faith is clearly demonstrated in a believer's life from James 2:20-26.
James 2:1-13 (NASB) 1 My brothers and sisters, do not hold your faith in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ with an attitude of personal favoritism. 2 For if a man comes into your assembly with a gold ring and is dressed in bright clothes, and a poor man in dirty clothes also comes in, 3 and you pay special attention to the one who is wearing the bright clothes, and say, “You sit here in a good place,” and you say to the poor man, “You stand over there, or sit down by my footstool,” 4 have you not made distinctions among yourselves, and become judges with evil motives? 5 Listen, my beloved brothers and sisters: did God not choose the poor of this world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom which He promised to those who love Him? 6 But you have dishonored the poor man. Is it not the rich who oppress you and personally drag you into court? 7 Do they not blaspheme the good name by which you have been called? 8 If, however, you are fulfilling the royal law according to the Scripture, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself,” you are doing well. 9 But if you show partiality, you are committing sin and are convicted by the Law as violators. 10 For whoever keeps the whole Law, yet stumbles in one point, has become guilty of all. Six Aspects of Christ-like Impartiality: 1) The Prohibitive Principle (2:1, 9) 2) A Poor Picture (2:2-4) 3) The Paradox (2:5-7) 4) The Positive Practice (2:8)

Ryan Brown, pastor, writer, and disciple-maker, brings a compelling perspective on what it truly means to follow Christ in a world where faith often comes with a cost. His work centers on helping believers live out their faith authentically, especially amid the reality of Christian persecution around the globe and the challenges of living counterculturally in the Western Church. In this episode, Ryan explores how consumerism and comfort can distort discipleship, the power of prayer to shape our lives, and why suffering can be a path to glory. He challenges us to measure joy beyond circumstances and to pray for God's purpose rather than blessings on our plans. His insights invite listeners to embrace a deeper, more resilient faith that is lived out daily, no matter the cost.Whether you're wrestling with your own faith journey or looking to understand the bigger picture of the global Church, this episode will inspire you to live boldly and follow Christ on His terms.WEBSITE: https://www.nogreyareaspodcast.com/INSTAGRAM: https://www.instagram.com/nogreyareas_gagliano/FACEBOOK: https://www.facebook.com/NoGreyAreasTIK TOK: https://www.tiktok.com/@nogreyareasgaglianoEMAIL: info@nogreyareas.comYOUTUBE: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCbnC2rjEumGJhqy54qazFFwNo Grey Areas is a motivational podcast with captivating guests centered around how our choices humanize, empower, and define who we become. James 1:26-27 (NASB) 26 If anyone thinks himself to be religious, yet does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this person's religion is worthless. 27 Pure and undefiled religion in the sight of our God and Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself unstained by the world. Principles of True Christianity: I. Existence of worthless religion (1:26) II. Elements of worthwhile religion (1:26-27) 1) Control over Speech (1:26) 2) Care for the Needy (1:27) 3) Cleanliness from the World (1:27)

In this conversation, George Wood and Bill Vanderbush explore the essence of true faith, the nature of God as a loving Father, and the misconceptions surrounding faith-based recovery. They discuss the importance of understanding one's identity in Christ, the transformative power of God's love, and the need for a reformation in how the church perceives and represents God. The dialogue emphasizes the significance of union with God, the role of fatherhood in healing, and the necessity of moving beyond judgment to embrace love and acceptance. Key takeaways-True faith is needed in a divided world.Faith-based recovery often misrepresents the nature of God.God is fundamentally a loving Father, not a distant deity.Separation from God is a misconception; He is always present.Grace should be understood as a gift, not a reward for behavior. Our identity in Christ transcends earthly limitations. The church must reform its understanding of God's love.Addiction recovery is deeply connected to understanding one's identity.Connect with me for Coaching, Consulting or to come and speak at George@tattooedpastor.com Buy my book The Uncovery https://www.briteaton.com/The-Uncovery-BookMy personal website https://www.georgeawood.com/Sober Truth Project https://sobertruthproject.org/https://www.facebook.com/tattooedpastorgw/https://linktr.ee/tattooedpastor

A proper interpretation of the Bible is essential if we as believers are to be effective in sharing the Gospel of Grace. When Jesus gave His disciples the Great Commission, He meant it in a broader sense of simply traveling to a physical location to spread the Word we have been given; He meant incorporating it into everything we do as part of our everyday lives. Reading the New Testament requires that we read it through the lens of the finished works of Jesus Christ; our faith should be based on the same thing. Jesus is what God believes about us; therefore, agreeing with Him elevates us from operating from faith in God to the faith of God, Himself. James 1:21-25 (NASB) 21 Therefore, ridding yourselves of all filthiness and all that remains of wickedness, in humility receive the word implanted, which is able to save your souls. 22 But prove yourselves doers of the word, and not just hearers who deceive themselves. 23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks at his natural face in a mirror; 24 for once he has looked at himself and gone away, he has immediately forgotten what kind of person he was. 25 But one who has looked intently at the perfect law, the law of freedom, and has continued in it, not having become a forgetful hearer but an active doer, this person will be blessed in what he does. How Christians should respond to the Word of God: 1) Proactively get rid of your sin (1:21) 2) Humbly receive the Word (1:21) 3) Persistently do what God's Word says (1:22-25) 4) Wholly believe God's Promise to the obedient (1:25)
(Hebrews 11:7) To profess to be a believer yet refuse to share your faith with someone else is the antithesis of what true faith looks like. Sincere faith is willing to speak. James 1:19-20 (NASB) 19 You know this, my beloved brothers and sisters. Now everyone must be quick to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger; 20 for a man's anger does not bring about the righteousness of God. Theme: Growing in godly communication/speech is an integral part of every Christian's spiritual maturity. Three Keys to Godly Communication 1) Open your ears (1:19) 2) Control your tongue (1:19) 3) Control your emotions (1:19-20)

James 1:17-18 (NASB) 17 Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow. 18 In the exercise of His will He gave us birth by the word of truth, so that we would be a kind of first fruits among His creatures. Theme: God, who is the wonderful, wondrous Giver of physical and spiritual life, should receive continuous gratitude from us as His new creations. 1) Who God is >> His Wonderful Character (1:17) 2) What God does >> His Wondrous Works (1:18)

James 1:12-16 (NASB) 12 Blessed is a man who perseveres under trial; for once he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him. 13 No one is to say when he is tempted, “I am being tempted by God”; for God cannot be tempted by evil, and He Himself does not tempt anyone. 14 But each one is tempted when he is carried away and enticed by his own lust. 15 Then when lust has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it has run its course, brings forth death. 16 Do not be deceived, my beloved brothers and sisters. Theme: To progress in the path to spiritual maturity, Christians must continually overcome temptations of the flesh. True faith comes only from God's Word, not human effort or vague belief. Though we can't understand everything—God's nature, the virgin birth, or Christ bearing our sins—we trust Scripture. The Bible reveals salvation through Jesus' death and resurrection, calling every sinner to believe and be redeemed.
