A dog vanishes chasing glowing red eyes in the darkness, couples are pursued at over 100 miles per hour by something with massive wings, and a terrified mother watches a gray humanoid creature shuffle onto her porch and peer through the windows—all in the same night that would mark the beginning of Point Pleasant's year of terror.Support our Halloween “Overcoming the Darkness” campaign to help people with depression: https://weirddarkness.com/HOPEIN THIS EPISODE: “I see dead people.” Today it's a meme seen in every corner of the internet. It began, however, as an incredible idea for a film - “The Sixth Sense” – and the reason the meme is so prevalent today, is because the film blew our minds with the unexpected twist ending forcing us to watch the film again. But what if your child were to truly tell you they were seeing dead people. Not imaginary friends, and not even the occasional monster in the closet… but actually seeing dead people. One woman in the UK is pondering that question with not one, but two children who are adamant they are seeing those who have already passed on. (My Children See Dead People) *** Steven Stayner was only seven years old when he was kidnapped and held for over seven years, being sexually molested by the man who grabbed him. But when another boy was brought in as the man's next victim, Steven turned from victim, to rescuer. (I Know My First Name is Steven) *** Stories of people in the past looking to the skies to see UFOs are becoming more and more common as we learn more of our history. But there was some very strange goings on in 1896 and 1897 with some flying contraptions, weird looking people, bizarre languages, and even a close encounter of the third kind. (America's Mystery Airships of 1896-97) *** From UFOs in 1896-97… to UFOs in 1966-67. But this time we add another element. Not only did a young man see a UFO, but the encounter appears to have taken him outside of time – and even changed his personality in the process! (Missing Time in 1966) *** In Blake Edward's 1965 classic comedy film, ‘The Great Race', the heroic Leslie and the despicable Professor Fate, engage in an epic automobile race from New York to Paris in the early 1900s. The film is actually based on a real race that took place in 1908 – and as hilarious as the ‘The Great Race' movie was, the actual race took stupidity to a whole new level. (The Great Race to Stupidity) *** As far as we know, it was the very first sighting of what we've come to know as The Mothman – and it was seen not by a single person or even a single couple – but by four people. Actually, “sighting” probably isn't the right word for it… as it ended up in a high-speed chase between the four people in one car, and Mothman giving chase. EPISODE BEING DISCUSSED: https://weirddarkness.com/mothmanharbingerofdoom/SYNOPSIS: Hosts Ghost and Ghoul Friend conduct an in-depth analysis of Darren Marlar's Weird Darkness episode "Mothman: Harbinger of Doom," exploring the concentrated year of terror that gripped Point Pleasant, West Virginia between November 1966 and December 1967. The discussion examines over 100 credible witness accounts of the seven-foot winged creature with glowing red eyes, beginning with the harrowing high-speed chase of the Scarberry and Millat couples, the mysterious disappearance of Newell Partridge's dog Bandit, and Marcella Bennett's traumatic close encounter. The hosts analyze the creature's consistent physical descriptions, its connection to UFO sightings and "men in black" encounters in the area, and the tragic Silver Bridge collapse that killed 46 people in December 1967—questioning whether Mothman was a harbinger of the disaster or directly responsible for it. The episode expands beyond Mothman to explore related phenomena including 19th-century mystery airships, 1960s UFO encounters with missing time, psychic abilities and their psychological toll, Steven Stayner's kidnapping survival story, and the absurdly dangerous 1908 Great Race from New York to Paris. Throughout, the hosts examine how unexplained encounters create lasting psychological trauma—fear without memory, dread without explanation—that fundamentally changes those who experience the unknown.

Shane van Gisbergen is back on the pod and he tackles your questions. With the NASCAR community raving about his performance this year (especially on road courses) we get his thoughts on the progress he’s making on ovals. Will he do some Sprintcar Racing or even the Chilli Bowl during the off season and has he nearly pulled a ‘hammy’ kicking that Rugby ball into the crowd. SVG managed to watch Bathurst around his Trackhouse commitments in Vegas and he offers up some observations on that classic edition of the Great Race. And why he’s wound back a bit of the SIM race prep but cranked up his views of onboard videos.Shane has made a few appearances on the Garage over the years but this conversation is one of their best. Don’t miss it… Head to Rusty's Facebook, Twitter or Instagram and give us your feedback and let us know who you want to hear from on Rusty's GarageSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

“You're supposed to represent power!”This episode about Egyptian mythology also includes history about The Great Race for Mercy, during which Darien mistakenly refers to an important sled dog as “Fox” when his name was actually Togo. Deepest apologies. Those responsible have been sacked. Other topics include many Horus Variants, a Peregrine Falcon PSA, Young Horus as a symbol of hope, a very cool-sounding festival tradition that was probably pretty meh actually, strategic connections to godly iconography, a side tangent about sixth grade social studies, and Horus being a big, fat cheater. Mark Winterbottom made a very memorable appearance on the pod 12 months ago but a bit has changed in his world since that Feature Episode. His role now as a codriver netted a podium first time out with his old race family at Tickford. The battle between the coey’s and was there any initial rustiness? How much he’s enjoyed mentoring the team’s Super 2 drivers and the conversation he had with JB & Billy from the Rush Hour about his bakery buy. In this episode of the Every Little Model podcast, John and Tricia explore the concept of 'Minding the Gap,' the space between where we are and where we want to be in personal and organizational development. They unpack the importance of measuring progress by looking back at how far we've come, rather than constantly comparing ourselves to future goals. They share insights into the Gap and Gain mindsets, using personal anecdotes and organizational examples to bring this to life.Follow the Every Little Model podcast on LinkedIn for visuals from this episode and all our episodes.

A special In Wheel Time replay - Ever wandered through a museum where cars aren't just machines, but masterpieces? Mary Agrusa takes us inside the Savoy Auto Museum in Cartersville, Georgia, where vehicles are displayed with the reverence typically reserved for fine art. "We consider this really more an art museum dedicated to the automobile," Mary explains, and her passion for automotive history shines through as she guides us through exhibits that tell stories beyond horsepower and torque figures. Each vehicle comes with a reader board that doesn't just list specifications but delves into fascinating backstories—why a particular model succeeded or failed, its historical significance, or quirky facts about its design. Visitors can walk 360 degrees around most cars, appreciating them from every angle under specially designed lighting that showcases their sculptural qualities. From an untouched 1925 Model T about to celebrate its 100th birthday to the elegant lineup of Studebakers charting the company's evolution, the museum offers something for casual visitors and dedicated enthusiasts alike. The Savoy isn't just preserving automotive history; it's inspiring the next generation. After their 1959 Plymouth Savoy named "Beatrice" participated in the Great Race (before unfortunately dropping two cylinders in West Virginia's mountains), local schools were inspired to build their own race cars for future competitions. This hands-on approach to automotive education perfectly complements the museum's mission to make car culture accessible and engaging for everyone.Switching from classic to contemporary, Don Armstrong takes us behind the wheel of the 2025 Lincoln Nautilus, and his enthusiasm is immediate. With its door-to-door digital display spanning the entire dashboard, this midsize SUV redefines interior luxury. Assembled in Hangzhou, China, the Nautilus combines elegant exterior styling with a smooth turbocharged powertrain that achieves impressive fuel economy. As Don puts it, "It gets an A-plus for attractiveness," positioning it as a standout option in a competitive segment that includes the Mercedes-Benz GLC and Genesis GV70.Whether yoBe sure to subscribe for more In Wheel Time Car Talk! The Lupe' Tortilla RestaurantsLupe Tortilla in Katy, Texas Gulf Coast Auto ShieldPaint protection, tint, and more!Disclaimer: This post contains affiliate links. It is sad to see that so many believers begin the Christian life but they do not run well nor do they finish well. But in this great race, we are called to be participators not spectators. We are to run and run well for the reward. Join us for this challenging and relevant message “The Great Race.” To support this ministry financially, visit: https://www.oneplace.com/donate/395/29

"EDITH HEAD: OLD HOLLYWOOD'S QUEEN OF FASHION" (093) EPISODE 93 - 6/23/25 With eight Academy Awards to her name — more than any other woman in history — EDITH HEAD wasn't just a costume designer; she was a storyteller in fabric, silhouette, and sparkle. From BETTE DAVIS to GRACE KELLY to AUDREY HEPBURN, she dressed the biggest stars of the silver screen, leaving an indelible mark on both fashion and film. In this episode, we explore how a shy schoolteacher became the most powerful woman in Hollywood wardrobes, her collaborations with iconic directors like Alfred Hitchcock, and how her designs helped shape characters, define eras, and influence fashion far beyond the studio lot. So, slip into something fabulous, and let's step behind the curtain into the life and legacy of the great Edith Head. For decades in the early 1800s, engineers and merchants attempt to convince the United States to build a railroad that could link the east to the west. But it isn't until the nation is thrown into Civil War that the government passes a bill to construct a transcontinental railroad. Two companies are formed: the Union Pacific and the Central Pacific. The Union Pacific begins building west from Omaha. But the man who oversees everything, Thomas Durant, uses the project to enrich himself. Remember when a bunch of dogs saved hundreds of human's lives in Alaska a century ago? In January of 1925, diphtheria, a deadly disease, swept through the village Nome, Alaska… killing multiple children. The town was frozen in for the winter. No roads in or out. No ships able to break through the ice in the sea around it. No planes able to fly through a winter so cold, temperatures on the ground would plummet to nearly -90 degrees Fahrenheit. The only hope to deliver life-saving anti-toxins to the area? Alaska's wildly hearty, determined, and heroic sled dogs. As the flames of the Karmelo Anthony-Austin Metcalf controversy simmer, a new spark threatens to reignite the firestorm of racial tension. On today's Fearless Monday, Jason reacts to the story of Shiloh Hendrix, a Rochester, Minnesota, native who raised over $600,000 after calling a young black autistic child the N-word. How did we get here? On one hand, you have Karmelo Anthony — a high school student who allegedly fatally stabbed a white classmate, allegedly due to a lack of emotional control. On the other, an emotionally immature white woman hurling racial slurs at children, then raising hundreds of thousands for her “relocation” after receiving backlash she arguably deserved. These are two sides of the same dysfunctional coin. None of it makes sense on the surface. There has to be something deeper going on. Who in their right mind donates hard-earned money to individuals entrenched in racial idolatry? To complicate matters further, Dr. Umar claims to have new evidence allegedly exonerating Karmelo Anthony, suggesting that both Austin and Hunter Metcalf “jumped” him, forcing him to act in self-defense. In other news, Caitlin Clark offers fans a glimpse of what's to come this WNBA season as the Indiana Fever face off against Brazil's national team. Ironically, the women of Brazil's national basketball squad — many of whom are women of color — seem to show more appreciation for Clark's global impact on women's basketball than many of her own American peers. No wonder men are becoming “passport bros” — Western morality appears to be collapsing. Thanks for making us part of your day. Tune in!
