Dr. Erin Michaud, SLP and BCBA-D with over 20 years of experience in communication development and ABA, joins the podcast to share the groundbreaking work of The Early Markers of Autism Project—a program changing the landscape of early autism identification and intervention. This hands-on, in-person research and treatment study works with infants from both high-risk populations (siblings of children with autism, with a 20% recurrence rate) and low-risk populations. By tracking social interaction, shifting attention, joint attention, and social behaviors from infancy through age five, the project identifies and responds to early markers far earlier than the current AAP screening recommendation of 18 months. The impact? Earlier diagnoses, earlier interventions, and fewer families waiting for services. Dr. Michaud shares how this project is creating validated assessment tools, expanding parent training, and building strong research to push for insurance coverage—bringing meaningful change for high-risk infants and their families.#autism #speechtherapyWhat's Inside:What are the early markers of autism? What is the Autism Sibling Project?Supporting parents and our littlest learners.Mentioned In This Episode:Talking First Words — Coming Soon Early Markers of Autism Project | The New England Center for Children7 Investigates: Autism Intervention - Boston News, Weather, Sports | WHDH 7NewsNECC Infant Sibling Research Project 2023 Speech Membership - ABA Speech ABA Speech: HomeThe BriefAll your family's pressing concerns and questions, answered in one place. Many people assume that gut problems always show up as bloating, pain, or digestive distress — but that's far from the truth. In this episode, Tara explains why everyone who cares about their long-term health and longevity should be paying attention to their gut… even if they think their digestion is just fine. From fatigue and brain fog to anxiety, weight gain, autoimmune issues, and even fertility challenges — the gut often plays a bigger role than you might realize. Tara shares a real-life client case: a woman with zero gut symptoms whose stool test revealed significant bacterial imbalances that were quietly driving inflammation and impacting her health. You'll learn why markers like LPS (lipopolysaccharides) and butyrate are so important, how they connect to inflammation throughout the body, and why a truly comprehensive stool test is non-negotiable if you want real answers. Tara also explains why not all tests — and not all practitioners — are created equal, and how to ensure you're working with someone who understands the full complexity of the microbiome. Whether you're chasing down stubborn symptoms or simply want to stay vibrant and healthy for years to come, this episode will inspire you to make your gut a top priority. Tara explains that: Comprehensive stool testing is essential for everyone, not just those with digestive symptoms. This helps identify issues that may be quietly driving systemic inflammation. Markers like LPS (lipopolysaccharides) and butyrate on stool tests provide vital insights into the inflammatory state of your gut—and, by extension, your whole body. If your test doesn't measure these, you're missing valuable information. Imbalances (dysbiosis) can exist without gut symptoms and still drive conditions like fatigue, autoimmunity, and infertility. Understanding your unique microbiome can be truly game-changing for your health path. Watch on Youtube. This episode is brought to you by the Primal Tallow Balms.Dr Kendrick emphasizes the lack of scientific evidence linking high cholesterol to heart disease and argues that a higher fat diet can have positive effects on health. The discussion also covers the complexities of LDL cholesterol, the importance of understanding various health markers, and the potential effects of adopting a high-fat diet. In this conversation, Dr. Malcolm Kendrick discusses the complexities of heart health, focusing on the role of blood clots, the impact of diet on cardiovascular health, and the misconceptions surrounding cholesterol and statins. He emphasizes the importance of understanding the glycocalyx and its protective role in blood vessels, the benefits of a high-fat diet, and the potential for plaque regression. Kendrick also critiques the use of statins, arguing that their benefits are often overstated and come with significant side effects. Takeaways* Cholesterol is often misunderstood in relation to heart disease.* Changing medical opinions is challenging due to entrenched beliefs.* High-fat diets can have positive health impacts.* LDL cholesterol is often mischaracterized as harmful.* The relationship between dietary fat and heart health is complex.* Markers like triglycerides and HDL are important for assessing heart health.* Insulin resistance is a key factor in heart disease risk.* The disease process in arteries can take decades to develop.* LDL levels can be influenced by carbohydrate intake, not just fat.* Understanding the nuances of cholesterol can empower patients. Blood clots form on artery walls and can lead to heart disease.* A high-fat diet can improve blood sugar levels and overall health.* The glycocalyx is crucial for protecting blood vessels from damage.* Diabetes damages the glycocalyx, increasing heart disease risk.* A 30-day high-fat diet can lead to significant health improvements.* Stopping the progression of plaque is more important than regression.* Statins may increase nitric oxide but have many adverse effects.* The average increase in life expectancy from statins is minimal.* Challenging your doctor about statin use can be beneficial.* Understanding the true causes of heart disease is essential for prevention.

In this episode of SpaceTime, we uncover groundbreaking revelations about dark energy, lunar geology, and Europe's innovative space weather monitoring initiative.Dark Energy: A Changing Force?Astronomers have compiled the largest supernova dataset to date, revealing tantalizing hints that dark energy may not be a constant force in the universe. This research, led by the International Supernova Cosmology Project, analyzes over 2,000 Type 1A supernovae to explore the evolving nature of dark energy, which currently comprises nearly 70% of the universe's mass-energy content. The findings suggest that if dark energy is weakening, it could significantly impact the universe's expansion and ultimate fate, challenging existing models and sparking excitement in the astrophysics community.New Insights into Lunar MagmaA recent study analyzing samples from China's Chang' e 5 mission indicates that molten magma may have persisted on the Moon's surface much longer than previously believed. Researchers, led by Stephen Alado, utilized radioactive dating to reveal that volcanic activity on the lunar far side could have continued for billions of years, contradicting earlier theories about the Moon's cooling process. This new understanding of lunar geology offers valuable insights into the Moon's evolution and the processes that shape celestial bodies.Europe's Space Weather Early Warning SystemThe European Space Agency is set to launch Vigil, a pioneering space weather probe, in 2031. Positioned at the Lagrangian L5 point, Vigil will provide unprecedented monitoring of solar activity, allowing for early warnings of solar storms that could disrupt communication systems and power grids on Earth. This mission aims to enhance our ability to predict and mitigate the impacts of space weather on modern infrastructure, marking a significant advancement in global space safety efforts.www.spacetimewithstuartgary.com✍️ Episode ReferencesAstrophysical Journalhttps://iopscience.iop.org/journal/1538-4357Science Advanceshttps://www.science.org/journal/sciadvESA Vigil Missionhttps://www.esa.int/Applications/Observing_the_Earth/Space_Weather/VigilBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/spacetime-space-astronomy--2458531/support.
It's July 29th. This day in 1913, Pennsylvania passed a law that would establish a system for adding historical markers and plaques around their state. Over the coming decades, other states would follow suit, and into the first half of the 20th century, the United States saw a flourishing of those road-side historical markers.Jody, NIki, and Kellie discuss why there was such an appetite for historical commemoration in the early 20th century, and how something ends up getting a marker in the first place. In this episode, Ed Frawley shares why and how we teach our dog the Yuck/Leave it command. Yuck is a command we train to teach our dog to spit out something it has picked up. It is probably the second most valuable command to teach our dog. This is taught in combination with the "Leave it" command. Leave It is a command taught to ask the dog to leave something alone that we don't want them to pick up. This video clip came from our Basic Dog Obedience course. This self-study course has 8 hours of video plus very detailed written training content. This course will cover the basic philosophy of reward-based training for sit, down, the foundation of coming when called, yuck/leave it, and walking on a loose lead. Additionally, you'll receive advice on managing your dog in your home. This course is taught by Ed Frawley owns Leerburg and has been training people how to train dogs for over 55 years. | Links mentioned: Basic Dog Obedience: https://leerburg.com/302.htm | Intermediate Dog Obedience: https://leerburg.com/302b.php | The Power of Training Dogs with Markers: https://leerburg.com/marker-dvd.php | Training Dogs with Food Rewards: https://leerburg.com/food-dvd.php | Obedience Training Equipment: https://leerburg.com/view-category.php?categoryid=699
An “unforced error” is a term borrowed from sports, especially tennis, meaning a mistake made due to one's own lapse rather than being forced by an opponent. In everyday language, it refers to an avoidable mistake or misstep, typically resulting from a lack of attention or care rather than external pressure. Thom and Jess examine one of the most common unforced errors in this podcast: lack of guest-friendly signage and markers. The post Lack of Guest-Friendly Signage and Markers: The Unforced Error Series appeared first on Church Answers.
In this episode, Ed Frawley shares why and how we teach Contact Heeling to your dog. Contact Heeling, also called Controlled Walking, is a form of heeling where the dog is expected to maintain close body contact with the handler, typically with the dog's shoulder touching the handler's knee.| Links mentioned: Basic Dog Obedience: https://leerburg.com/302.htm | Intermediate Dog Obedience: https://leerburg.com/302b.php | The Power of Training Dogs with Markers: https://leerburg.com/marker-dvd.php | Training Dogs with Food Rewards: https://leerburg.com/food-dvd.php | Obedience Training Equipment: https://leerburg.com/view-category.php?categoryid=699

For years, scientists have grappled with differing values derived from cosmic microwave background radiation and supernova observations. Lead author Wendy Friedman discusses how recent findings suggest that the standard model of cosmology holds up, with the Hubble constant now estimated at 70.4 kilometres per second per megaparsec, aligning more closely with earlier measurements. This breakthrough could reshape our understanding of the universe's expansion and evolution.Venus's Thin CrustNew research indicates that Venus's crust is unexpectedly thin, challenging previous assumptions about the planet's geology. A study published in Nature Communications reveals that Venus lacks the tectonic activity seen on Earth, resulting in a crust that is about 40 to 65 kilometres thick. This research proposes a model of crust metamorphism that could explain how volcanic activity persists on Venus, despite the absence of plate tectonics. Upcoming missions, including NASA's Davinci and Veritas, aim to gather more data that could confirm these findings and enhance our understanding of Venus's geological processes.Building Blocks of Stellar FormationA recent study highlights that the formation of stars is influenced not only by the amount of gas in a galaxy but also by its distribution. Observations from the WALLABY survey, conducted using the Australian Square Kilometre Array Pathfinder Telescope, reveal that star formation is concentrated in areas with higher gas density. Lead author Seona Lee explains how this research sheds light on the intricate processes that govern star formation, suggesting that gas location is critical for the birth of new stars across various galaxy types.www.spacetimewithstuartgary.com✍️ Episode ReferencesAstrophysical Journalhttps://iopscience.iop.org/journal/0004-637XNature Communicationshttps://www.nature.com/naturecommunications/Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/spacetime-space-astronomy--2458531/support.00:00 This is Space Time Series 28, Episode 66 for broadcast on 2 June 202501:00 Resolving the Hubble constant debate12:15 Venus's surprisingly thin crust22:30 Building blocks of stellar formation30:00 Science report: New links between autism and Parkinson's disease

You might not realize just how much your oral health is tied to your heart and overall wellness—but it's a connection worth knowing about. I caught up again with my amazing colleague, Dr. Ellie Campbell, and we got into why regular lab tests sometimes miss the early signs of things like heart disease, stroke, and even dementia. We talked about why your dentist could actually be one of the most important people on your health team, plus some sneaky risks that only advanced testing can catch. Dr. Ellie has been in family medicine for over 25 years, mixing integrative and functional approaches to help people truly understand their health. She shared some eye-opening stuff about how sleep apnea can mess with your blood sugar, why fasting blood sugar numbers matter more than you think, and how your genes could be playing a bigger role than you realize. She also gave some solid advice on how to speak up for yourself in a medical system that doesn't always connect these dots. If you're someone who wants to take better care of yourself and catch problems before they sneak up, this episode is packed with tips that really hit home. "I am on a mission to show in the most positive manner just how far off a lot of these people are and to show people there's hope and to teach them how to do it without completely eradicating their health." - Dylan Gemelli I sat down with Dylan Gemelli, a prominent figure in the fitness and biohacking industry who's transitioned from the bodybuilding world to becoming a cellular health expert. Dylan shared his incredible journey of rebuilding his life from scratch, discovering peptides and SARMs long before they became mainstream, and his personal battle with heart disease that led him to prove medical professionals wrong about what's possible. We dive deep into the world of peptides, cardiovascular health testing beyond standard panels, and why the hierarchy of health should include strategic supplementation for optimal aging. Dylan's passion for challenging medical dogma is infectious, especially his evidence that LP(a) levels can be lowered despite conventional wisdom saying otherwise. What you'll learn: What peptides and SARMs are and how they differ from harmful substances like steroids Why standard cholesterol panels miss the most important cardiovascular risk markers How Dylan lowered his "unchangeable" LP(a) levels by over 230 points when doctors said it was impossible The hierarchy of health supplements everyone should consider, starting with creatine for women of all ages Why microdosing GLP-1s may be the ultimate longevity hack for improved metabolic health How specialized peptides can accelerate healing, improve sleep, and support cellular repair The truth about NAD+ supplementation and what delivery methods actually work Why building and maintaining muscle mass is critical as we age, especially for women Love the Podcast?
