Too much is going on, I'm not sure I'm holding it together very well and so this true adoption series is me trying to do this.. This is my intro podcast to the series..

Those that know me will know that child abuse is a topic very close to my heart. When I first saw Jeremy and heard his story I was instantly engaged. Jeremy searched for his abuser and tried to take him to court for the abuse he inflicted upon on him from the age of 8 years old. His abuser then took Jeremy to court. Jeremy is now using his experiences to encourage others to speak up about child abuse. More survivors are speaking up, but Jeremy is also aiming his work to parents to encourage them to talk to their children from a much earlier age. This is a sensitive area and I honestly believe Jeremy is the best spokesperson for initiating such an important movement. I'm honoured he came to talk to me. Welcome to my next episode of searching for truth, this week I talk with Bethy. Her story immediately caught my attention when she explained she met her Birth Mother. I could relate to her longing to see her Birth Mother from an early age. I like Bethy only had one thing in mind growing up and that was to meet out Birth Mothers. It was a desperation. Bethy like myself knew she was going to find out the truth one day. And we did! I found out my Birth Mum was dead, this news I believe was my number 1 trauma. Bethy met her birth mum 18 months before she died. Through meeting her Bethy met the father of her first three children and her abuser for 9 years. Oh so many twists and turn in this interview, it really is perfect for searching for truth. As an adoptee I know how sensitive this area is.... You have no clue what's on the other side.. You just know you need to go there. Until now I'd not spoken to anyone that had the same longing as I did for their Birth Mother.. Bethy and I have our unique stories with one thing in common, we were both adopted and longed for our Birth Mothers. This is the story of Elavi Dowie's fight to see his children. After splitting from the children's Mother Elavi thought he would stand a fair chance seeing his children and so went to the courts himself. Little did he know that this would be the beginning of a 6 year fight with the family courts. As you will hear Elavi is now fighting the family courts.
