This week at Venture, we welcomed Pastor Jared Ming from Higher Vision Church as he continued our Journey Through Ephesians series with a powerful message from Ephesians 5. Pastor Jared teaches what it means to “be imitators of God” — that following Jesus is not just about believing, but about becoming more like our Father. Through humor, personal stories, and deep biblical insight, he unpacks two life-changing truths: 1. Walk in Love Love isn't just emotion — it's action, sacrifice, generosity, and self-control. Jared shows how true love is expressed through giving, and how it also means restraining the desires and behaviors that lead us away from God. 2. Walk in the Light We are called to leave the darkness behind. Jared challenges us to disconnect from anything that keeps us from God's best and to step fully into the light — through confession, truth, repentance, and following Jesus wholeheartedly. This message is practical, challenging, and full of moments that will help you grow closer to God and look more like Him in your daily life. ⏱️ Timestamps 00:00 – Welcome to Venture Church Online00:06 – Drop your location in the comments00:20 – Service intro00:42 – Pastor Jared Ming takes the stage01:07 – Honoring Pastor Brandon, Pastor Di, and the team01:23 – About Higher Vision Church01:38 – Thanksgiving weekend humor02:03 – “Drumstick” joke02:24 – Diving into Ephesians 502:41 – Standing for the reading of God's Word02:57 – “Be imitators of God”03:31 – Opening prayer03:58 – What does it mean to imitate God?04:17 – Mimicking your Father in heaven04:42 – Family photo illustration05:19 – Do you resemble your Father spiritually?06:25 – What imitation really looks like06:49 – Encouraging the room07:16 – The call to “walk in love”07:56 – Love expressed through giving08:41 – God loved and gave09:05 – The five love languages09:27 – Gift illustration with Pastor Morgan10:51 – It's not love if there's no substance11:13 – Showing love through generosity and forgiveness11:43 – Love is demonstrated through action12:27 – Love is expressed through self-control12:59 – Hard topics: sexual immorality13:28 – Why Paul addresses sexuality14:28 – Fornication explained15:08 – God's call to holiness16:01 – Coveting and desires16:35 – Desires become actions16:57 – God protects us through boundaries17:53 – Love restrains18:01 – Controlling your words18:27 – All communication matters19:15 – Every word is recorded19:44 – Our words justify or condemn20:06 – Life and death in the tongue20:52 – The power of confession21:34 – Your words shape your future22:11 – Speak life, not defeat22:37 – Don't be deceived by empty words23:21 – Cultural lies vs. biblical truth24:06 – Reaping the results of belief24:51 – Speak God's promises25:19 – “The best is yet to come”25:35 – Walk in love recap26:15 – Point 2: Walk in the light26:35 – Leaving darkness behind27:06 – Know what is acceptable to God27:42 – Why you need the Bible28:15 – Light reveals what darkness hides29:17 – Stop blaming darkness — turn on the light29:53 – Jesus is the light30:15 – Jesus wants followers, not fans30:38 – Disconnect from darkness31:26 – “No thank you” illustration from Elf32:47 – What fellowship with darkness looks like33:37 – Expose what's hidden34:18 – Painful but necessary healing34:45 – Story of the plantar wart36:22 – It can't heal until you reveal36:50 – Break fellowship with darkness37:22 – Time to walk in love and light37:41 – Salvation invitation38:29 – Call to repentance39:12 – Prayer of salvation40:12 – Prayer over the church40:45 – Pastor Di wraps up service41:27 – How to go deeper this week41:47 – Christmas season starts next week41:53 – Closing remarks42:00 – End
Welcome to the final episode in Gospel Spice's series, "Identity in the Battle." Stephanie draws from Paul's letter to the Ephesians, with a primary focus on what it means to know and live out our identity in Christ, especially amidst spiritual warfare. This serves as a conclusion to the study on our identity in Christ and how that shapes our engagement in spiritual warfare.Ephesians: Tone & ContextStephanie emphasizes two critical ways to approach Ephesians:Mature Tone: Unlike Paul's other letters, Ephesians is deeply theological and not focused on addressing specific church problems. Instead, it equips believers for mature faith, acknowledging life's difficulties, but encouraging us by affirming that victory in Christ is already secured.Context: Paul writes from prison (likely AD 62), aware these may be his final words to the church in Ephesus. Despite his chains, he speaks with gentle affection, offering encouragement and a desire for continued connection.Four Pillars in Paul's Farewell (Ephesians 6:23–24)Paul concludes with four key blessings:Peace: A deep, abiding peace (shalom) from God.Faith: Assurance in the unseen, a call to trust God in uncertainty.Love: Love that unites the community.Grace: The foundation for all Christian living.Paul challenges us to let these words be the flavor of our own walk with Christ and to root ministry and relationships in love and grace. The Spiritual BattleEach believer has a choice—either to remain bystanders or to take up their place in the spiritual battlefield. Importantly:Jesus' love is not lessened by our reluctance, but we are invited to participate in battle for the sake of others, including addressing evils like human trafficking. The enemy (Satan) is not complacent, so we must not be either. Knowing the victory is won should lead not to laziness, but to courageous engagement. Our battle is never against people, but against evil and spiritual forces. With people, we are to demonstrate the fruit of the Spirit—love, patience, kindness.Handling Conflict in the ChurchStephanie points out that disagreements among Christians are inevitable. The priority is always reconciliation, but when that's not possible, it's best to move aside while continuing to pray blessings over one another, remembering that we are all fighting the same spiritual war.Five Steps for Engaging in Spiritual WarfareBecome aware of the spiritual realm.Train up: Study scripture, pray, and fellowship.Stand firm: Hold your ground in Christ's strength.Resist the devil: Persevere with God's might, not your own.Train others: Help disciple and equip younger believers.True Identity in ChristThe reality of our identity is found in the fullness of Christ. Everything—our calling, purpose, and ability to overcome—flows from knowing who God is, what He has done, who we are in Him, and what we are called to do.We are the inheritors of a deep legacy of spiritual riches and calling. So, root your life in the peace, faith, love, and grace found in Christ, remember your true identity, and take your place in the spiritual battle with courage. As the series ends, Gospel Spice invites everyone to "taste and see that the Lord is good," step boldly into battle, and empower others to do the same.Reflection/Response:- How do Paul's final words in Ephesians inspire you to engage the spiritual battles you face today?- What does it look like for you to stand firm in your identity in ChristEnjoying these reflection questions? We want a warm, welcoming atmosphere to journey ever deeper into the heart of God. We believe it is the ultimate calling of the Christian life, and I like to summarize it with my motto, God's glory, our delight. That is why we invite you to “taste and see” that the Lord is good. And we have been doing this every day since 2019. We need YOU to keep Gospel Spice alive and growing. Financially speaking, we rely on people who understand this vision and who understand that we cannot function without a minimum budget. We run an extremely tight budget. For example, I work full time but don't draw a salary. And yet, we have expenses – for example, the equipment and technology we use, and also the wonderfully gifted staff who make it possible to deliver high quality content all around the globe, and then the necessary occasional promotional budget to make it possible to be discovered by those who seek to live a life spiced with the gospel of Jesus Christ. We need your help. So we would love for you to consider if this ministry is blessing you to pay gospel spice forward. And so we commit to giving the majority of what we receive, once all of our administrative costs are paid, to organizations that fight human trafficking on the front line. There are many worthwhile causes in the world, so why this one? Because I have always personally felt deep compassion for victims of human trafficking – maybe because I have never been its victim myself, so I feel a responsibility to help those less fortunate than me. Also, because Jesus tells us to love our neighbor. Human trafficking is modern day slavery, and that is something that revolts the heart of God. We want to play our part in raising awareness and then financially supporting those who fight this great evil. So, we do some due diligence. Let all that you do be done in love.” — 1 Corinthians 16:13–14 (ESV) “Be Watchful” What does Spiritual Vigilance look like? ““Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion.” — 1 Peter 5:8 (ESV)” Being watchful means being alert — guarding your home, your marriage, your heart. Spiritual drift happens slowly; vigilance prevents it. Modern distractions (screens, busyness, comfort) dull our alertness. Thoughts on why this is the first command from Paul How can we stay spiritually awake when the world wants to lull you to sleep? “Stand Firm in the Faith” How do we stay anchored in truth and not be tossed around by opinion? “Stand firm in one spirit, with one mind striving side by side for the faith of the gospel.” — Philippians 1:27 (ESV)” Standing firm means knowing what you believe and why. Is it arrogance or conviction? Is it rooted in grace? The faith here is the faith. The truth revealed in scripture. What truths have we compromised because standing firm felt uncomfortable? “Act like Men” Paul's command “act like men” means be courageous, mature, and responsible. What does that look like? “Be strong, and show yourself a man.” — 1 Kings 2:2 (ESV)” Real men don't run from responsibility, they bear it. The call to manhood is a call to maturity. Why does biblical masculinity get labeled as “agggression?” Why can't it be moral and spiritual bravery? What responsibilities has God placed in your life that require courage today? “Be Strong” Godly strength is dependence on grace, not self. “Be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might.” — Ephesians 6:10 (ESV)” Paul isn't saying “man up” or “try harder.” He's saying “rely on God's power.” Why do we miss this? Strength that isn't spirit-filled becomes pride. Weakness is the doorway to divine strength. This is counter-cultural “ Let All That You Do Be Done in Love” Love is what keeps strength from becoming hardness “And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.” — Colossians 3:14 (ESV)” Love balances authority with gentleness. Real leadership is servant leadership. What does this look like? Love is not weakness, it's the might of Christ expressed in humility How can your leadership reflect both strength and tenderness?
How many times have you heard this: "I love him, we're great together, but..."? There's always room for doubt, even in the happiest of relationships. So this week, the Sugars take on some of those doubts in rapid-fire fashion. This episode was originally published on January 5th, 2017.

Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.' All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” - Matthew 22:37-40 NIV If you would like to partner with us, please visit: myloh.church/give
Luke 9:43-45 (ESV) “And all were astonished at the majesty of God. But while they were all marveling at everything he was doing, Jesus said to his disciples, “Let these words sink into your ears: The Son of Man is about to be delivered into the hands of men.” But they did not understand this saying, and it was concealed from them, so that they might not perceive it. And they were afraid to ask him about this saying.”Who would want to kill Jesus? Why would they want to kill Jesus?Luke 13:31–35 (ESV) At that very hour some Pharisees came and said to him, “Get away from here, for Herod wants to kill you.” And he said to them, “Go and tell that fox, ‘Behold, I cast out demons and perform cures today and tomorrow, and the third day I finish my course. Nevertheless, I must go on my way today and tomorrow and the day following, for it cannot be that a prophet should perish away from Jerusalem.' O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to it! How often would I have gathered your children together as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, and you were not willing! Behold, your house is forsaken. And I tell you, you will not see me until you say, ‘Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!' ”In our lifetime, there have been assassinations.Charlie Kirk is the first spectacle/murderRecorded live/high def while streamingCan be replayed infinitelyThe arguments about his message are typicalUnlike other assassinations, we can go back and review his message unlike any other. The LORD said to Cain, “Why are you angry, and why has your face fallen? If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin is crouching at the door. For John had been saying to Herod, “It is not lawful for you to have your brother's wife.” And Herodias had a grudge against him and wanted to put him to death. But she could not, for Herod feared John, knowing that he was a righteous and holy man, and he kept him safe. When he heard him, he was greatly perplexed, and yet he heard him gladly.Mark 6:23–25 (ESV) And he vowed to her, “Whatever you ask me, I will give you, up to half of my kingdom.” And she went out and said to her mother, “For what should I ask?” And she said, “The head of John the Baptist.” And she came in immediately with haste to the king and asked, saying, “I want you to give me at once the head of John the Baptist on a platter.”Pharisees killed Stephen - Acts 7:54–59 (ESV) Now when they heard these things they were enraged, and they ground their teeth at him. But he, full of the Holy Spirit, gazed into heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God. And he said, “Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God.” But they cried out with a loud voice and stopped their ears and rushed together at him. Then they cast him out of the city and stoned him. And the witnesses laid down their garments at the feet of a young man named Saul. And as they were stoning Stephen, he called out, “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.”JesusEvery apostle but John There is going to be an attack on Christianity on a new level. What if your brand wasn't just about marketing, but about rethinking every single touchpoint your customer experiences? That's the approach Michael Jacobson took when he bought his uncle's struggling flower shop. Today, French Florist has grown from the brink of closure to Los Angeles' largest flower shop, generating over $9 million in revenue and expanding nationally through franchising. Under Michael's leadership, the brand is reshaping what it means to buy flowers, making everyday moments feel like luxury experiences. Make Operations Part of Your Brand Your brand promise is only as strong as the systems behind it. Michael shares how upgrading outdated tools and building a custom operating system didn't just cut costs. It made every step of the customer journey smoother and more consistent. The takeaway? If you want to deliver a premium experience, start by fixing the pain points your customers feel most, even if the solution is behind the scenes. Let Values Guide Every Decision It's easy to write core values and never put them into practice. French Florist takes the opposite approach, using the acronym LOVE (Love what you do, Own your impact, Value connection, Exceed expectations) as a daily filter for hiring, franchising, and customer touchpoints. The result is a thriving brand that feels consistent and authentic at every level. Ask yourself: do your customers feel your values in action, or only see them on your website? Enjoy this episode with Michael Jacobson… Soundbytes 22:26 - 22:40 “I don't know how many people actually live and breathe by [their company values]. Our company really does. We integrate it very deeply into the blood and DNA of our culture. Every decision we make follows that framework. We ask ourselves, if we're making big decisions, do they hit the core values.” 33:24 - 33:39 “If you can take the average person, on the average day, who has the average work ethic, with the average intellect, and build a system that can produce above average results, then that's a franchisable business.” Quotes “Business is tough. Nobody said it was going to be easy.” “We want to actually contribute real value to the world as an entrepreneur.” “If we can make this world 1% better, that's a worthy mission.” Links mentioned in this episode: From Our Guest Website: https://www.frenchflorist.com/ Connect with Michael Jacobson on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/michaelrichardjacobson/ Connect with brandiD Find out how top leaders are increasing their authority, impact, and income online. “You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? And if you greet only your own people, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that?" - Matthew 5:43-47 NIV If you would like to partner with us, please visit: myloh.church/give
John tells us an old command about how and who to show God's love to. John then gives a new command of what NOT to love. Key Phrase: “…love your brother and sister… love not the world.” 1 John 2:10, 15
Namumuhay tayo sa mundong inuuna ang sariling kahulugan ng pag-ibig—isang pag-ibig na nakabatay lamang sa damdamin at romansa. Transformed By Love // “Love Is” How can we, as a church and as individuals, live in our community in a way that reflects the grace and kindness of Jesus? But What Is the Love of God? Ephesians 3:14-19 (ESV)“For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.” Agape - noun used 18x = benevolence, goodwill, flowing from God's charter. Agapáo - verb used 28x = The proof of love. Love Is + Love Does God is Love What is the Love of God Like? His Love Appears First 1 John 4:19 (ESV)“We love because he first loved us.” His Love Cannot be Earned 1 John 4:9-10 (NLT)“God showed how much he loved us by sending his one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him. This is real love—not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins.” Romans 8:38-39 (ESV)“For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” “The gospel is this: We are more sinful and flawed in ourselves than we ever dared believe, yet at the very same time we are more loved and accepted in Jesus Christ than we ever dared hope.” - Timothy Keller His Love is Proven by the Cross Romans 5:6,8 (ESV)“For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly… but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” John 3:16-17 (NIV)“For this is how God loved the world: He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him.” His love is revealed by the Holy Spirit Galatians 1:11-12 (ESV)“For I would have you know, brothers, that the gospel that was preached is not man's gospel. For I did not receive it from any man, nor was I taught it, but I received it through a revelation of Jesus Christ.” Ephesians 3:14-19 (ESV)“For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.” “Holy Spirit, Give Me a Revelation of Your Love, I Need It!”

What does it truly mean to love one another? In this episode, Dr. John reflects on how love and truth are inseparable in the Christian life. Drawing from 1 John, he shows that genuine love is expressed through obedience to Christ's commandments and warns against the harm false teaching causes within the church. Learn how walking in God's truth strengthens our love and unity as a family of believers.Walking in Truth and Love: It has been said that there are two kinds of people in the Christian community. There are the love people, who believe that living in love, unity, and harmony with others is of utmost importance. Then there's the truth group of people. These Christians care deeply about the salvation of the lost and remind us that unless truth is declared, no one can be saved. Unfortunately, the love group can find it difficult to draw lines in the sand when it comes to false teachings and sin, and the truth camp often becomes harsh, judgemental, and lack in grace. Which group do you fall in to? Before you panic, there is good news! We don't have to choose between love or truth. It is not a trade-off. Join Dr. John Neufeld in this 5-message series where he will walk through how to live a life of both Christian love and truth!

In this episode, Dr. John explores the delicate balance of love and truth in Christian relationships, using the example of the “elect lady” in John's letter. In our pursuit of greatness in God's eyes, we tend to imagine following Jesus into ever-increasing, upward levels of maturity. What's your #1 Challenge in Living your Truth?
What's up Bros? We love the Love Hotel. After a hell of a cliffhanger last week, we get to read the letter. It turns out Shannon tracked down Earl's long lost stepson and provided him with the contact info. After an emotional scene, it looks like Earl may still be in the running afterall. Luann and James continue to further their relationship (to the point that James is referring to Lu as his girlfriend). Ashley is still torn between Ralph and Wale and even didn't give Wale her key this time. She claims its because shes afraid to fall in love with Wale because they may not want the same things. Gizelle is still somewhat checked out as far as the dating scene goes but can Phil or one of the newbies be enough for her to fall in love?!? This show rocks. Learn more about your ad choices. This week on Black on Black Cinema, the crew returns to discuss the 2020 film, "Really Love." Set in contemporary Washington D.C., a rising black painter strives to break into the competitive art world, while balancing a bittersweet romance he never expected. The film is directed by Angel Kristi Williams and starring Kofi Siriboe, Yootha Wong-Loi-Sing, and Uzo Aduba. Dominic talks with a caller DMS as they examine Belichick's relationship. He later asks about how people would deal with having a transgender child. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
What's up Bros? We watched Love Hotel and let us tell ya... This show is great. It is the perfect put on and turn the mind off kind of show. The cast is perfect. You have Luann mixing it up, Gizelle grilling the guys, Ashley inevitably falling for one of them and Shannon is a fish out of water. And you know what? It just works. In this episode we get to meet the cast of dudes and they are also a riot. Earl the Pearl is a gem, Ralph is a stud, Wale is gunning for Ashley and Gerry just wants to surf. Their are other gentlemen involved but we cannot say enough how much we enjoyed this. So buckle up Bros and follow along this season with us. Learn more about your ad choices.
