Soon they arrive in the golden age of Total Football in the Netherlands as Cruyff and Ajax win 3 consecutive European Cups. That Ajax club eventually splinters, but the best of the Netherlands come together to play in the 1974 World Cup. An impressive run to the final culminates in a bitter loss to West Germany that births a rivalry that will last decades. In 1988 the Dutch gain a measure of revenge as they defeat West Germany in the Euro Cup.

They start off in the 1950's Netherlands and follow along until around 1970 and the development of Total Football. They note the parallels drawn between Dutch soccer and Dutch culture and history, and connect those topics back to FCC and US soccer.
