Both Russell Wilson and Justin Fields, who were successes as Steelers quarterbacks in 2024, have now been benched by their new teams, with Fields set down by the New York Jets on Sunday despite a $30 million guaranteed contract. Fields had the best season of his career with Smith and the Steelers, turned that into a big payday, and has now seemingly turned back into a pumpkin. Wilson was better in Pittsburgh than he had been with the Denver Broncos, but was worse with the New York Giants before his benching for Jaxson Dart. Aaron Rodgers has also had a career resurgence with Pittsburgh and under Smith. Ryan Tannehill had the best seasons of his 11-year career when Smith was his OC with the Tennessee Titans.
