Pitt beat Duquesne 61-9, BUT something Jack didn't like from that game was Desmond Reid returning punts. Yes, he scored a PRTD in the game, but Jack says Reid is too impactful to be their punt returner. Ohio State's Jeremiah Smith was also returning punts too, apparently. -BREAKING: Jaylen Warren is signing a two-year extension with the Steelers. Jack reacts.
Post-Gazette sports columnist Jason Mackey joins host Adam Bittner to give season predictions for the Pitt Panthers football team at the start of the 2025 season. How cool is it to see coach Pat Narduzzi's team facing crosstown rival Duquesne in the season opener? Is Eli Holstein capable of a season like Kenny Pickett had in 2021 en route to an ACC conference championship? Is Desmond Reid's health the most important factor for OC Kade Bell's offense? And is Pitt a top three or four team if it can follow through on linebacker Kyle Louis' vision of finishing games? Our duo tackles those questions and more.
Noah Hiles is reporting that Isiah Kiner-Falefa is being placed on outright waivers. Joe likes the job Don Kelly has done, but he gave away two games against the Cardinals with his decisions. Penn State men's and women's hockey are playing at Beaver Stadium on January 31st and the women's hockey team is hosting Robert Morris.

Today's case: Will Pitt win more than 6.5 games?
Friend of the show Chris Peak returns to preview the 2025 Pitt Panthers
Adam Crowley and Dorin Dickerson discuss what potential they believe Pitt Football has for this upcoming season.
Pitt man Pat Bostick joined the show. Pat, part of the broadcast booth for Pitt football, will also be the new host for the Pat Narduzzi Show this season. Pat said there are a number of reasons why Kenny Pickett has struggled in the NFL. Pat isn't writing off the rest of his career, citing what he did in Philly. Pat doesn't rule out Pickett having a career turnaround like Baker Mayfield or Geno Smith, but said ‘a lot would have to go right.' Pat thinks the trials and tribulations Pickett went through at Pitt made him prepared for being moved around in the NFL. The guys asked Pat about the Panthers going into 2025 and what we could see from Eli Holstein this season. Pat is excited for another college football season. He gave his Steelers season prediction and had them winning a game.
Jason Mackey is in for Joe and Bob and is live from the Pitt Football Kickoff Luncheon. The expectations for Dez Reed and Kyle Louis are very high and are both preseason All-Americans. All eyes are on Eli Holstein for another year for his second season as a starter with OC Kade Bell. The Steelers are clearly thin on the defensive line and if they lose a starter, like Derrick Harmon, it's going to be an issue.
Reid said there is more confidence in the building this year. Reid is helping children create reading habits at The Children's Home of Pittsburgh and launched an Amazon wish list to help them. Reid said he enjoys seeing how happy the children are when he goes and reads to them. Reid said he doesn't care much about the accolades and wants to win.

The Duke Blue Devils won in fun fashion against the Pitt Panthers, and we recap everything on Episode 679! There's no way we can get into the recap without starting with the Dunk of the Season so far, when Cooper Flagg absolutely caught a body (and the foul) against Pitt center Guillermo Diaz Graham. We get into the rest of the good from the game, most notably the defense. The defense is performing at historic levels, and it's incredible to watch. It's fueled how Duke takes these games over and shuts an opponent down. We also deal with the stuff to improve from this game, from the turnovers to Jason and Donald's ability to make an opponent sound dangerous! There was a lot to discuss from this one, so it's a longer episode. But, it's one you'll want to listen to from start to finish! Make sure you're following us! The Duke Blue Devils return home tomorrow to take on the Pitt Panthers, and we preview the Quad 1 game on DBR Bites Episode 80. Duke and Pitt both enter with 12-2 records overall and undefeated in the ACC, and this is a strong Pitt team led by a beloved member of The Brotherhood in Jeff Capel. Capel has a team that has quite a bit of continuity, which makes their elevation to one of the best teams in the ACC. They have some length and some toughness, and they have some guys who can put the biscuit in the basket. Donald and Jason go through what Pitt brings to Cameron and how Duke can continue their unbeaten start to the ACC schedule. Before the break, we also do a little word on The Duke Effect and how many people tuned into Duke Basketball in 2024. After the break, we switch to football, where Duke lost to Ole Miss last week in the Gator Bowl. Despite the 52-20 scoreline, there was some things to be proud of from Duke on both sides of the ball. We discuss how Henry Belin IV did throwing the football and how Duke is set up to be a contender for the ACC title next year with their schedule and many of the players coming back, including All-American Chandler Rivers.
