We sift through several elements related to that depth chart and how much of it can be taken seriously. The Steelers have reportedly now made a contract offer to CB Joey Porter Jr. as of Tuesday, so Alex and I go over the piece of news. We discuss what common ground the two sides could end up with should an extension ultimately get finalized before Sunday. We go over several players sitting out the preseason finale in addition to giving our initial overviews and main takeaways from that road loss to the Bills. The Steelers restructured the contract of WR DK Metcalf since our last show, so Alex and I go over the details related to that transaction. The SEC said that those who choose to leave college and compete professionally should not be allowed and will blur the lines between college and professional sports.

Nick thinks that the Steelers are Porter Jr. both know where their two sides stand and Nick doesn't buy that there hasn't been a single offer. Both sides likely know who wants what. Nick believes Porter Jr. wants to be the highest-paid corner. He thinks the Steelers are more comfortable with $28-29 million and there has to be a compromise there.

August 24, 2026 - Season 17, Episode 13 of The Terrible Podcast is now in the can. In this Monday morning show, Alex Kozora and I get right into discussing several key things that Pittsburgh Steelers HC Mike McCarthy had to say during morning media session. The Steelers are planning to have rookie OT Max Iheanachor practice on Monday, so we discuss the possibility of him making his debut Thursday night in the team's preseason finale. McCarthy also said that DB Jalen Ramsey is set to practice on Monday as he is being removed from the Active/PUP list. We also pass along the seemingly good health of several other players that have been dealing with injuries coming out of the weekend. On Monday, McCarthy refused to confirm that QB Will Howard will definitely make the 53-man roster this year, so Alex and I discuss that tidbit. We also talk a little bit about McCarthy telling the media on Monday that the team is currently at an impasse with CB Joey Porter Jr. when it comes to contract extension talks. Alex Highsmith was back at Steelers OTAs and participated on Monday. Nick doesn't think there is any ill-will that Nick Herbig is making more money. Nick doesn't think Highsmith will hold-out or hold-in. T.J. Watt could have less than 82% of the snaps and could be the way to keep Herbig and Highsmith with good snaps.
