In this, the finale of the second season, we take an initial trip to Västerbotten, for a relaxing selection of recordings from the coastline in July. I wanted to share some particularly nice audio with listeners in this finale. Along the coastline of Northern Sweden is where I enjoy field recording the most and I thought this would be an apt way to begin the final episode of this second season..The main sound magazine documents an incredible overnight trip to Sandemar Reserve. I knew when I was putting this sound magaizine together, that it contained some rather special audio. The night in question was quite magical and has remained fresh in my memory, ever since. This was simply a case of saving the best until last and I hope you enjoy this audio experience...The Grand Finale; See you all in 2026 for Season 3!Leave a comment here....Support the showSubscibe to Wild Bird Acoustics here;https://wildbirdacoustics.buzzsprout.comLots more audio related material here at my long running website;https://blogbirder.blogspot.com/

How can we bring ourselves to say goodbye? In one last visit to our beloved Abbey, things are changing with the times (how astonishing!), and some people are dealing with it better than others (what a shock!). Retirement, pregnancy, divorce, organizing the county show… just about every major life milestone is happening to one of our favorite characters. Will Daisy pull off her first big dinner as the head cook? Will Edith keep from fainting the first time Mary asks her for sisterly advice? Will Mary survive scandal and FINALLY take her place leading the estate? Will the estate itself endure??? Call up your most fabulous gay playwright friend, prep a pitcher of Old-Fashioneds, and don your best tiara for a final farewell to the most glittering jewel in Julian Fellowes' crown, our dear Downton Abbey. With box office takings on the rise, James Cameron-Wilson celebrates the arrival of Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale, an exquisitely packaged producdtion with most of the regulars that rounds the trilogy off nicely. He finds #4 The Long Walk, based on a Stephen King novel about boys forced onto a deadly march, to be so compelling you didn't worry about its illogicalities. #7 Spinal Tap II: The End Continues plays on a nostalgic yearning. Often too silly, it still has a high chuckle quotient. James also pays tribute to Robert Redford. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

047 - The long Walk, Dir. Francis Lawrence The Long Walk is a dystopian, post modern Civil War America. Every year each state is represented by a young boy who walks for the grand prize of whatever they want. The cost of victory? The other 49 have to be dead. There s no finish line and no breaks. To fall behind or stop is to be killed. Par the corse for Stephen King. Mark Hamill (The Major) plays his part beautifully as the guy we love to hate. Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale (timecode below) finds Lady Mary Talbot and family a year into The Great Depression and rocked with a scandal. It's ore of what we've come to love about the show- excellent writing, brilliant performances, and an old world English charm that keeps us coming back for more. The final Downton Abbey that shows the struggles with change.
We're here to provide a little distraction -- and a positive online community during these weird times -- with the latest episode of our Breakfast All Day podcast. Our first movie isn't exactly escapist fun, though: "The Long Walk," which is one of the better Stephen King adaptations. It's beautifully written and acted but also harrowing to watch, especially now. This may not be the best week to see people getting shot in the head, but this movie is really good otherwise. In theaters. Next up, it's "Spinal Tap II: The End Continues," the painfully unfunny sequel to the 1984 comedy classic "This Is Spinal Tap." It would be impossible to match the brilliance of a movie that invented an entire genre, but this one really doesn't. Rob Reiner, Michael McKean, Christopher Guest and Harry Shearer are all back, along with some major celebrity cameos. In theaters. If you're looking for elegant pleasures, we have "Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale." Everyone's lives are in flux in 1930s England, but they look great doing it. And despite their financial woes, they find time to get gussied up for the horse races at Ascot. This tidies up all the stories in satisfying fashion. In theaters. Finally, a lengthy Movie News LIVE!: Early reactions to "One Battle After Another," Emmy Awards on Sunday, "Big Little Lies" season 3 and much more. We tried to keep the politics to a minimum but dipped into some entertainment-adjacent items toward the end. Join us every Friday at Noon Pacific. Thanks for all you do for our community! Subscribe to Christy's Saturday Matinee newsletter: https://christylemire.beehiiv.com/ Come hang out with us before a showing of "One Battle After Another"! Did Jesus forget to mention a secret rapture? Discussion Questions: Read 1 Thessalonians 4:16–17. Paul describes one dramatic, public return of Christ with a shout, trumpet, and the resurrection of believers. Why do you think Paul emphasizes these visible signs instead of describing a secret return? Read John 5:28–29. Jesus says both “those who did good” and “those who did evil” will come out of the tombs at the same hour. How does this challenge the idea of two separate resurrections or two separate comings of Christ? Read 2 Thessalonians 1:6–10. Why does Paul connect Christ's return with both judgment on the wicked and relief for the suffering church? How does this strengthen our hope in times of hardship? Read Matthew 24:27–31. Why do you think Jesus compares His return to lightning flashing across the sky? What does this tell us about how obvious and undeniable His coming will be? For nearly 1,800 years, Christians believed in one visible return of Christ and one final judgment. Only in the 1800s did the idea of a “secret rapture” appear. Is it helpful to you to know that particular history? Why or why not? Read Hebrews 9:28. The writer says Christ will appear a second time “to bring salvation to those who are waiting for Him.” Why is Christ's return essential to completing God's plan of salvation? If Christ is returning once, visibly, and finally to judge and renew all things, how might this shape the way think? What perspectives might change if we live in the hope of His coming?
